Motley Crue Says They Are Quitting
One final tour of 72 dates for the band Motley Crue before they hang up their leather pants and wigs and play golf all day. First of all, the tour will be extended beyond 72 dates so the first part is a lie. The second thing is that they say the band has agreed to never use the name again after this tour. Uh huh. So, when a couple of them start running out of money the next few years who will want to use it first? Someone will. No matter what you heard or they said there will be another Motley Crue tour. Sure, they are basically a self tribute band at this point and haven't done anything original in several decades but they can still make money. On tour. They just won't make enough to cover their expenses doing anything else but playing so they will be back. What they will do is get together for some television event or charity thing and decide to go on the road again and then never get off. This announcement is just about driving ticket sales and getting a higher price for the tickets.
They are still pieced together?
ReplyDeleteNo idea they were still even touring.
ReplyDeleteThey should do one of those cruises like Backstreet Boys and Keith Sweat are doing. The cruise ship would be like a floating brothel navigating the Caribbean!
ReplyDeleteYou would be begging for the Norovirus after being exposed to the shit on that boat.
DeleteYou would be begging for the Norovirus after being exposed to the shit on that boat.
DeleteGood point @Sass71. That's why I don't have plans to be on the boat, just collect the bags of money in ticket sales!
DeleteThat empty deathly quiet is the sound of no one giving a shit what they do ever.
ReplyDeleteUnlike Zeppelin or the Stones, I have a hard time picturing Crue fans in their 50s who can really rock out with them the way they did in the '80s. Maybe I'm not giving them enough credit and there are also a bunch of younger fans? All that to say, now seems like a good time to pack it in. Can you imagine some half-empty club full of over-the-hill metalheads?
ReplyDeleteThey should dress as their 80s hair band selves, for their last tour. Like KISS (another shit band) in make up.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea they were still together. LOL
ReplyDeleteOnly vaguely remember them......so?
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Kristin! That gives my cold black heart warm fuzzies!
ReplyDelete7/11 it's making this stone cold bitch see dollar signs!
DeleteThat pic made me misty.
ReplyDelete((I HEART THE '80's))
@liddy
ReplyDeleteLol
;-)
Huh, now that Tommy Lee has quite the member on him but I'd snap his lil skinny ass in half! :(
ReplyDeleteVan Halen did a reunion tour with David Lee Roth and the first time around did stadiums full of nostalgic 40-year-olds.
ReplyDeleteThe second time around, much smaller venues.
David Lee Roth has a great podcast, if anyone's interested. http://www.therothshowrss.com/
What's the bet a series of "tribute bands" will arise ...
ReplyDeleteOr - worse - other '80s groups will reform for their own 'quitting shows' ... Lef Deppard, Poison .... aaaaaargh; no thanks!
Motley Crue has made some fabulous music over the years and have lots of fans who are now of an age that they have plenty of disposable income. This is great marketing on their part.
ReplyDeleteExactly they've been touring for years now. True fans know
DeleteI was at the concert when they recorded and filmed Carnival of Sins. Happened to be in one of the venue suites. Holy cow! Say what you will, they put on a hell of a show. I was busy watching some firebreathers and topless chicks, when Tommy swung by trapeze from one drum kit to another.
ReplyDeleteThree sidenotes: a) a private suite with full bar and private bathroom is the cat's ass b) Mick Mars is a wee little man. c) Apparently, wearing a patch to a Crue concert is an open invitation for people to want to fight you. Who knew?
They're still together? I thought they broke up years ago.
ReplyDeleteMy throwback guilty pleasure is Hall and Oates. The Husband took me to see them a couple years ago at The Borgata, and they were great. Played all the greatest hits. Cheese fest, but I loved it.
ReplyDeleteNow Motley Crue. Eh, Give me Bon Jovi in concert or give me death. And I will rock big hair, studs and a half top for that shit. They put on a great show. But you need Richie, JBJ!!
Home Sweet Home is a wonderful tune, though. I'll give Motley Crue that.
Good for them for touring. Don't all the oldies use the "farewell tour" thing. I can't hate on them for that gimmick. You gots to do what you gots to do.
Know what I've noticed? A lot of men experimented with make-up back in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteCount, you know you're my brother from another mother, so I'll let you go with saying that about the Crue and KISS, anyone else would be destroyed.
ReplyDeleteBands like KISS, Motley Crue, etc. are for people who don't want to take music too seriously. Just something to listen to and have fun with. Hell, they don't take themselves that serious, when bands do that they turn into Metallica.
Rowdy, you are 100% correct.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya, Rowdy. When the kids in my school were wearing their jean jackets w/ all the Motley Crue, Megadeath, Poison patches all over them, I was copying my brother in laws Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys albums to cassette. I completely skipped the heavy metal thing, only to go back and buy Metallica and Motorhead CDs when I was in High School.
ReplyDeleteVince Neil is touring on his own...coming to Canada anyway
ReplyDeleteHow will the world survive??
