  1. Yay for Lorde and a huge F-U for skipping Of Monsters and Men. Glad Imagine Dragons got best rock performance, though - Youtube those guys, they do not play in a sandbox.

Yay, Cyndi Lauper and yawn, Macklemore.

Glad to see Summertime Sadness on here (though I haven't heard the remix). Lana del Ray gets a lot of Girls-type grief, but she is truly talented.

And Stephen Mofo Colbert. Best pretend Canadian export ever.

  2. I am soooo glad I didn't waste my time watching this shit last night. Just by looking at wht was nominated told me this would suck. The commercial music industry today is pathetic--loaded with talentless artists who will suck ass or dick to get ahead. Every genre of music, with the possible exception of country which stays pretty close to its roots, is horrid. Pop music is especially rancid and that's what dominates this show. People say the 80's was the worst period of time for the music industry, but guess what? That music still stands up now 30 yrs. later and the shit going on now won't even stand up in 2016. I feel bad for talented musicians who sat home watching this shit wondering why they cant get ahead in the profession they chose. You can't get ahead because having talent is different than what the industry looks for now.

  4. Uncle Sandy, you had coffee yet?

I didn't watch the Grammy Awards (they bore me and I hate to listen to music I don't like for a mere glimpse at my favorite performers), but there are some solid performers on this list.

    @Lucas, I feel your pain.

  5. @ sandybrook

I'm with you 100%. This was just a big giant infomercial.
I read the "pre telecast" winners with a little bit more interest though.

  14. Taylor Swift will NEVER be Tori Amos. NEVER!!!

God that was the worst Grammys in a long time, IMHO. I thought 2013 and 2012 were standup shows. I really enjoyed every performance last year.

This year, well from the opener with that horrendous opener by Beyonce the writing was on the wall. Why in the world is she as hyped as she is?!?! I don't get it. I honestly think Justin Timberlake or Bruna Mars would have been a better choice. ANYTHING, would have been a better choice than that song she lip synched. Fucking horrendous.

I cut out around 10, and watched Downton. It was a much happier place for me.

I checked back in to watch the Macklemore and Madonna number. A bit too preachy and political for my taste. And, I did not find it edgy in the least.

Edgy would have been just a musician up there playing an instrument and singing.

I thought the number with Carol King and Sara Bareillas (Sp?) was great.

Pink was awesome, but the dude from Fun sounded like a cat dying.

Jamie Fox was trippin. His ad libbing was so WTF.

I loved Willie Nelson and crew.

I also thought the Daft Punk thing was fun, but why do they wear helmets. I don't get it.

The whole thing made me feel out of touch, annoyed and I was too sober to handle all of my emotions.

  15. Yay Gary Clark Jr.!!! Well deserved!

  16. I also dug Chicago and Robin Thicke. It took 45 minutes for some good music to be performed. Unbelievable.

  18. I actually found the commercials for Shakira's new album and Angelina's evil witch movie with the Lana Del Rey remake of a Disney song (WTF? Loved it.) more intriguing than the actual Grammys. The Justin Timberlake and Sophia Vergera ads also held my attention.

@Susan well those commercials sound like more fun than what I got ... being Mortein fly spray commercials - over and over again :-/

  19. @susan I too thought the Mackelmore, Madonna, Queen thing was a bit preachy and political. It makes light of the situation. Really? Getting married at the Grammys. A place where they force people to hide their sexual orientation to sell records and now Grammys in on board with this moment. WOW

'We got married at the Grammys' just beautiful.

I believe you can love whoever you want and equal rights but that moment seemed very fake and heavy handed.

Also, not to diss Queen (even though I just used a performative) seems timely that she is doing this now.

    1. @ Orvilla, I would have skipped it completely but for the comments :-D
I cringed at the whole Mack/Madonna/Latifah marriage thing. I wanted to cry at how such an awesome! event in these couples lives were treated So shabbily...

  20. Apologies for all of my typos in my long-ass rant. Eek! Multi-tasking, taking care of the kid and bitching on the internets on less than 1 cup of coffee is impacting my typing.)

@Orvilla. OMG. I'm so glad somebody else feels the same. I completely and truly support the marriage of all people. It's just that the whole presentation was like a Glee episode. And the whole time I was thinking, "I wonder how many of these couples will end up getting divorced." I'm going to hell. Hee.

  21. @Susan It was a spectacle. It's a shame. Hell you say, I guess I will be burning with you;)

  22. @Susan, thanks for the heads up, I watched the Maleficient trailer with Lana del Ray - fascinating! (I'd link to it but... you know...) I love her voice.

  24. And I loved John Legend. But, I always love John Legend. Note to self: Must see John Legend play. Lang Lang was a treat as well, but I've never been into Metallica. (Ducking.) I appreciated the whole performance, though.

That's the thing with the Grammys. I like that viewers can be exposed to all different types of music. I think they really missed the boat this year. Oh well. What do I know? Just my 2 cent.

And I still stand by my love for Katy Perry's music dress. Only she can pull that off. It was kitschy. My husband told me I was nuts. Ha.

  26. Yay for rihanna, bruno winning. Always loved pharrell before he got this big. I guess I will have to check out his newer stuff. I thought the blurred lines song was bleh but will have to see if his newer comps are any good before making judgements..Alas most of the musicians I like arent on here or up for awards and thats okay. (Kings of leon, radiohead, mumford & sons..) lorde is garbage. Her music bores me just like taylor swift
