Blind Items Revealed

July 29, 2013

This drummer of a three person band who is one of the top bands of all-time has more money than he could ever spend. Did he spend it on his nephew when his nephew was dying of leukemia? Nope. Not one penny. He wanted nothing to do with it or death and told his sister that he was not going to help her or his nephew. The nephew died. Think about that when he is out promoting a new record.

Frank Wright/Green Day

  3. Oh Lord, that's awful.

  4. Huh, so Tre Cool is neither his real name nor an apt descriptor of him as a human being.

  5. Uh Green Day no....one of the greatest bands since 1990 maybe. THe guy is a POS.

  7. I'm so glad it wasn't Dave Grohl, who was a suspect. SO GLAD!

  8. so relieved this is not Dave Grohl. I couldn't think of any other 3man band except Nirvana

  9. And who brought this info to light? The sister or another unhappy family member. I hate items like this as I'm sure there's only a grain of truth to it and/or a lot of information omitted.

  10. What a POS! I used to like this band.

  11. I am so happy this isn't Frank Beard.

  12. Alabama, I'm with you. I don't like items like this, because we have no idea of the family dynamics or other info behind it.

  13. regardless of the family's issues (or even the sickness' outcome) when a kid is sick, you do whatever you can to help out.
If he didn't spend a penny on his nephew's treatment, he deserves karma to bite him very hard.

  14. I just saw Scrooged as part of my xmas pogrom, I am picturing all the ghosts visiting this guy one by one only future don't let him go. I especially enjoy the idea of Carol Kane and this guy going ropeadope for his soul.... :-D

  15. Awful.
I will ally be so crushed if I ever hear that Dave Grohl did something cruel, or is an asshole. I have only heard good stories about him, and he hates Paris Hilton - I love him.

  16. Hitler will be shoving a pineapple up his ass in purgatory one day.

  17. I really hope this isn't true :-(( I'm always shocked that people can be so heartless.

  18. I can't stand Green Day.
That being said, the problem with blinds like this is that they're designed to outrage (wha wha what!!!? no money for cancer nephew??! The fiend!!!) but there could so easily be more to the story. Maybe the guy really is a fiend but then what exactly was the money going to do for the kid? Leukemia kills quickly, especially the children.
Everyone who reads this blog regularly is experienced enough to know that blinds are not just about information but also about manipulation. Smarten up and stop being led about.

    1. Not true. I know a woman who survived childhood Lukemia twice when she was very young, 5 and 7 yrs old. This was back in the early years of any cancer treatment, the 70s. Not only has she survived and thrived, despite her chemo treatments she went on to become a mother of two healthy children. Typically the treatments render females sterile.

Now, give generously to St. Jude's Children's hospital. They do great things.

  19. I googled a ton of things to find out anything about his nephew & sister and see nothing.
People love to believe bad things about other people.

  20. The whole band are douches. They performed here in Atlanta at Music Midtown last summer. I worked the event. They were only band over the three days that had the artist area locked down (even to other artists). They said eight words to the crowd the entire performance and a midi board went out so they sounded terrible. There were no apologies, or crowd interaction. Capital Cities went out into the crowd and gave hugs, took pictures, etc.

  21. If this is true, this is so sad. I couldn't imagine not doing everything possible to help a sick child.

  22. Families are complicated

  23. I'll not contribute a single cent nor lend an ear to any of their tunes if this is true.

  24. I am going to agree with people who say it is a family situation and because we are on the outside and not living the drama...we can't point accusatory fingers and put all the hate on the celebrity.

  25. No matter what information we're not getting on this blind he should have stepped up and done something. Anything. Can anyone think of anything, anything at all, that would be so bad that he would be justified in not helping? That's not a rhetorical question. I'd really like to know what was so awful that he couldn't have done something to help. This one beggars description unless actually did offer help and was rebuffed.

  26. I strongly doubt this story. For one thing, they aren't that big and they haven't earned that much. Larry Livermore of Lookout took a lot of the money they made for their first two albums. Green Day came up through the highly punk-purist, MR&R-devout 924 Gilman scene, with which I am familiar. They were well-respected in the East Bay punk scene for their roots purity, even after they left Lookout for a major label. I really doubt they've become total money-grubbing douchebags.

Lot of punk types become estranged from family, often at the instigation of said family. If his sister shunned him when he was a low-life punker, why should he fork out for a nephew he probably doesn't even know?

    1. Are you serious? They've sold more than 65 million albums world wide & estimates are that the band earned $10 million for their last tour.

  27. "Top bands of all time?" I'm...just...speechless.

  28. Somehow I think there is more to the story here. Like perhaps the money was wanted for some wacky treatment that would not have extended the kid's life.

This guy is a selfish POS. I agree with the give to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. They are on the leading edge of childhood cancer treatment and no family is ever turned away.

  30. Since we all like to take the blinds with a grain of salt and say this site is just for entertainment, blah blah blah, I will wait for a dozen or two verifications before I buy into this one.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't believe this. Or there's something missing, like the sister wanted him to give her money and he wouldn't so she spread this around just to make him look bad.

Family dynamics do matter when it comes to money.

  32. no more green day ughh

  33. Living in SF/Bay Area, I have quite a few connections to Green Day (I've been a fan for well over 15 years) so I'll be able to find out if something did happen between him and Lori (his sister). I have not heard a thing.

  36. I once was friends with a woman with whom Tre was cheating on the person he was cheating on his first wife with...I've known that guy is a POS for while.

  37. I can't stand my sister, she's a drunk and has stolen, lied to, and used me for anything a person can.
When my nieces need ANYTHING, I am there. IF they might need anything, I am there. If my sister might benefit, I am still there. It's not about me or her.
I don't give a shit about family dynamics or money, you help the kids.
I am not rich, but I'd give my last dime for my nieces if I had to.

  38. Well said, @Amartel.

  39. Wright aka Tre Cool has a net worth of $45 million. He has an older sister named Lori. Could not find anything about any other sibs or a nephew,
