Blind Items Revealed - Kindness

August 7, 2013

This is not a particularly long or elaborate blind, but I wanted to give it the 10:10 spot because I think it is great what this couple has done the past few years. The husband is an actor. I always think of him as A list, but that is because he has been on television forever and was in one of my favorite movies that no one else ever watched. he has had the very good fortune of being on two very hit television shows and one of them is currently still a hit and on a network. His wife is an actress, and was way more popular than the actor when they got together. She does not act as much any longer. A few years ago they went to the manager of a grocery store and asked how much it would cost to buy the entire contents of the store. All of it. The manager gave them a number and the couple said they wanted to buy it all. The manager thought it was a great idea, but that he could not afford to let them take all his stock and that they probably did not need everything he sold. They came to an agreement and the couple ordered every item of food that was currently in the store. Canned goods to meat to produce. All of it. They also ordered every paper item and dish and cooking item. They then have done the same thing every year and donate it all to various local food banks and churches and homeless missions. All told they have spent well over $1M the past few years without anyone even knowing.

  6. Mark Harmon was my teenage love (Flamingo rd, that helicopter rescue thing). I adored him. Makes my teenaged self all giddy to think how lovely he is in real life.

  7. I bet the movie Enty loves is "Stealing Home" with Jodie Foster. I loved it too. Mark is a mensch.

  13. I ask this about once a week and never get an answer; is there any couple in show business who are happily married and monogamous? Is it possible that mark and pam are the answer to my question? Any blinds or rumors out there concerning these two?

    1. Nope. They've been married for decades and not a peep. My Forever Dong Olyphant is the same. Le sigh....

  18. Don't like Mark Harmon. Would definitely Shazbutt Mindy, I'd just post date the memory to 1982, when I was 7 and she was fine.

  19. Mindy is my homegirl!

I love them for this. Just another reason to love NCIS.

  21. I did a movie with Pam and she was super nice. She thought Jodie was so "butch" in "Stealing Home". Mark was there and very private. I only got to meet him once. But he was incredibly handsome. Good for both of them.

  22. I remember Mark as a college quarterback, and his connection to the Nelsons.

    1. @CK, met him when he was the QB for UCLA and played my college team and have been smitten ever since. His dad was an All-American college football player at Michigan and Heisman trophy winner. His parents, sister, Kris (Rick Nelson's then wife), and other assorted relatives were with him. A gracious and kind family. As my mom would say, "That boy was raised right." I guessed this was him when it was originally posted. :-)

This is very admirable but I can't stand Harman - he gives me the absolute creeps for some reason.

  24. Stealing Home is still one of my sentimental favorites! It's where I fell in love with Mark Harmon for sure

  25. I had the hugest crush on Mark Harmon, but I'm concerned because I had that crush when he was in the Ted Bundy movie. Unfortunate.

  26. TTM you crack me up!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. TTM: If some wackadoodle can marry Charles Manson, then you can have a crush on Mark Harmon as Ted Bundy. Now if you had a crush on whoever played John Wayne Gacy, I'd be worried, unless it was because of a clown fetish.

  28. @Citygirl thanks!

@Count, I dunno, Brian Dennehy was kinda hot in the movie where everyone shot him in the street. Not at all whatsoever in the John Wayne Gacy movie, whew, not a freak after all

  29. TTM, boo, I just ordered The Deliberate Stranger for my Dad yesterday off Amazon. Spooky, huh?

  30. Well good on Mindy and Ted Bundy but I'd prefer we save the reveals for juicier stuff. (Still totally would've done him circa "Summer School".)

    Way to go.

  32. Pure class. Some other's should take note next time they have "charity" auctions that benefit themselves.

  34. It warms my cold, black heart to find out that there are some great people out there. Maybe they really are as nice as they seem. MORE KINDNESS REVEALS!

  35. This is great, but generally donating money to food shelves is better.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah! I love Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber. So glad to know that he really is a nice guy. And I love Summer School and watch it whenever I see it on.

  40. My boyfriend, born in 84, has no idea who they are. That blows my mind. Summer School was my favorite movie for one summer and Pam will always be seared into my brain as the star of My Sister Sam and her many interviews about the murder of costar Rebecca Schaeffer. As a kid, that was huge Hollywood news.

  41. Mark Harmon was soooo good as Ted Bundy. He captured that alternately charming/creepy thing so well.
