Blind Items Revealed - Kindness
October 2, 2013
This is not the biggest blind item in the world but I put it in this time slot because I think it shows you what you can do with not a very large budget and when you just make the effort to try and do something. This B list foreign born actor who has just taken off over the past couple of years and has always focused on movies here until now is most beloved by me for a foreign television show he was on. While he was filming his show last season he and the show's creator who is also a genius found that they had a ton of stuff left everyday from the craft service table. They started shipping the extra stuff to homeless shelters around town and food banks and then got the bright idea that they could use the budget of the show and order even more food everyday saying what they had was not enough. Soon their budget for food was enough for a group of people five times their size and not only did they manage to send thousands of dollars of food everyday to homeless shelters but also fed any homeless people who happened by the set.
Chris O'Dowd and Christopher Guest (HBO canceled the show so no more helping the homeless)
the show was Family Tree and it was pretty good.
ReplyDeleteI <3 Chris O'Dowd. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
ReplyDeleteThe IT Crowd. Probably my most favourite comedy ever. I adore Chris ODowd. 'Works Outing' might be the best comic episode of any programme ever.
DeleteDid I say how much I love Chris O'Dowd?
After many many years that I've been lurking here I feel I must reply to your post Violet. And all I can say is, "I'm disabled."
DeleteChris O'Dowd is going to be on Broadway in "Of Mice and Men" starting in late March. I think James Franco co-stars. Just on this blind alone, I think I'll be getting tickets. Love him.
ReplyDeleteStealing from a production company is a kindness? Write a check, dude.
ReplyDeleteMost homeless shelters won't accept food that's open/already prepared. At least in the states.
Pfft. Don't rain on my Chris O'Dowd love parade.
DeleteAww Violet, I don't wanna rain on your parade, I want to blow up all the floats.
DeleteCome sit by me, Violet. I have bloopers!
DeleteBloopers!! I think I might have to psych myself up before watching those. Richard and Chris and Noel. Sunday evening is set.
DeleteIf it's Christopher Guest's production company, he's not stealing, though, is he. I love him. I will watch THIS IS SPINAL TAP or A MIGHTY WIND over and over and still catch something I didn't see before. He and Jamie Lee are good people, I think.
ReplyDeleteThere's supposed to be a question mark after "is he." A period there makes it sound snotty. Stupid phone. Sorry.
DeleteI gotcha AKM ;)
Delete" got the bright idea that they could use the budget of the show and order even more food everyday saying what they had was not enough. "
They're lying to someone. Regardless of the intent, that's fraud and theft. I've always hated this blind.
How is stealing heroic? Open up your effing wallets! Guest is a British Lord married to Jamie Lee Curtis who has millions.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love Chris O'Dowd! I.T Crowd was amazing!
ReplyDeleteI do love Chris O'Dowd! The IT Crowd is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThey are only lying to ppl financing the project Kristin so they aren't hurting anyone and if Guest is actually financing it himself there is absolutely no problem. The budget gets approved by the company and banks before it gets implemented and there's insurance bond if it goes over budget.
ReplyDelete@Violet @MissX @CriticalPeach @Seven
ReplyDeleteI adore him! He is hysterically funny. Adored the IT Crowd and he was the best thing in Friends with Kids.
@Seven--where did you get bloopers??? OMG! They must be hilarious!
Well to be totally grinchy or scroogey
ReplyDeleteyou could argue that they were stealing from the British Taxpayer because they get a tax deduction for that expense right but that depends on what tax credit you would get for an outright charitable donation, it might be that the outright charitable donation would be more than the tax deduction in which case they are not cheating the British taxpayer and in fact are paying more taxes
Chris O'Dowd is the shite
ReplyDeleteWell well well. Look who decided to join us. Did you finally finish boarding up all the doors, entryways, and crawl spaces to Canada so we can't send Bieber back to you?
DeleteBeen a bad week, chickie. Did you get my note yesterday about no book club because of the Grammies?
DeleteEverything okay? If you need anything....OneEyeCharlie totally seems like the dependable type ;)
DeleteI'm all good. Aww, that's so sweet you were pimping out your crush for me!
DeleteHey, Charlie
Hey TTM! Do I need to kick anyone's butt for you??
DeleteSugar I will be glad to help bust a kneecap or two. Nobody puts TTM in a corner.
DeleteIt's all bueno, chicas! Hammer, did you see the note about moving the book club to next week because of the Grammies?
DeleteI saw the above, if that's the one you mean. It's cool though, I've been working 13 hr days and couldn't tell you my own name right now. You ladies would think I was drunk, high, or secretly Justin Beiber if I tried to hold a serious conversation right about now.
DeleteHi TTM. Missed you!
ReplyDeleteYes! Now I'm a bigger fan of Chris O'Dowd. Shame his show was cancelled.
ReplyDeleteTl;dr
ReplyDeleteI'm a lurker and I, too, missed TTM. Hope things are getting better for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mother Campfire, and yay for posting from lurking!
DeleteLove!
ReplyDeleteBeen watching Chris ODowds show Moone Boy on Hulu. So good!
ReplyDeleteI guess technically the government's getting screwed, since craft services would be a production cost and therefore tax-deductible. But in the interest of feeding the homeless, who cares? It's not like that's what the feds are going to do with the money.
ReplyDeleteOh for fuck's sake. There's someone actually shitting on these guys for FEEDING THE HOMELESS?
ReplyDeletePlease proceed directly to Hell. Do not pass Go, do not collect two hundred dollars.
So thoughtful but no thanks. STFU.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say to the comments about "open your wallet," how do you know they didn't open their wallets first? And what they are doing is above and beyond what they have already personally given? I say if they can work the system to help feed the people that are ignored by the system, then that is karma, baby.
ReplyDeleteFeeding homeless people is always a good thing, no matter how it is done. I know people who have gone to food banks and gotten a bag of flour and some pasta. Not too much you can do with a bag of flour if you are homeless.
ReplyDeleteI would think that they would have consulted with lawyers /accountants before doing this on their own.
Nice :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, wait - Christopher Guest as in Jamie Lee Curtis' husband? Not surprised - nope; not one iota. That lady is such a generous, kind spirited woman - just amazing. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch for her spouse to be the same.
ReplyDelete.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. Is it really being kind by donating (essentially stealing) money that is not yours for charitable causes that are not chosen by the rightful owner. It's called embezzling.
