Blind Item #9

This former B list mostly television actress who made her fame as a tweener is all grown up now and trying to make a comeback in a big way the past few months. Our actress recently took a $200K payday from a university that opposes interracial marriage.

  2. Candace Cameron seems to be in the news lately.

  3. I have no proof, but this smells like Candace Cameron Burre at Bob Jones or a similar college.

  4. Yea Candace Cameron and Bob Jones or Liberty sounds right.

  5. @ T.E. Cruz: My thoughts exactly!

  6. I cannot wait until the Cameron skeletons come out of that closet with Kirk. Something happened that made them all psycho-nutbar-religious; and that is always a great story.
I never liked any of them, and if I had the energy, I'd hate them now.

  7. Well just look at her crazy evangelical brother and there you have it. I like her though, she seems down to Earth and is absolutely gorgeous!

  8. I would question whether the woman actually knows that the university opposes interracial marriage. Someone like Candace Cameron Bure might think that a christian college aligns with her own beliefs without investigating.

I'll be disappointed if this is her (or if this blind is real) because I'm happy for her that she's made it to adulthood without being a complete wreck like most child stars.

  9. How did this person get 200k?
Was there an event or something?

I can't see Candice demanding that kind of coin, but who knows

  10. bob jones in sc is not against interracial... its just a very christian school. christianity is not racist.

@gypsy, i think that fame/hollywood early on drives kids away to the point where they want to find the most opposite thing, i.e. religion, intense family structure, etc.

  11. I was thinking Hillary Duff. Lizzie MaGuire, and now trying to comeback with a singing career. Also confused about the payday.

  12. Welcome back, disappearing comment!

    Yep, DJ and BJU.

They still believe that being black is "the mark of Cain", and that's why interracial marriage is wrong. They only dropped the "ban" on interracial dating among students in 2000 when Bush visited the campus and everyone found out about it.

    Mark of genius.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, I'm not Christian really, but just because one is doesn't make them racist.

    ReplyDelete
  14. BJU dropped the no interacial dating rule in 2000.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @Reno & T.E., no, being a Christian doesn't make you an automatic racist. But Bob Jones University had a BAN - an actual ban - on interracial dating amongst students up until GWB's visit when the media found out about and they were roasted in the press. Prior to that, they used Bible references to support the ban (tribes mixing with tribes, I believe). Burre recently brought out the submissive wife argument in the press, another BJU staple.

  16. When people quit associating with Columbia University for inviting Ahmadinejad to come speak, I'll get my outrage meter all set up again.

But for God's sake, you don't have to agree with every last thing any person or institution believes in to have some sort of alliance, or working arrangement, or friendship with them.

  17. If they oppose it, its their business. Freedom of choice. Democracy. Why is this blindworthy?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Whoever it is is an asswipe. Does sound like candance. Ugh. Will this shit ever end?

Exactly...I cannot think of many people who I agree with 100% on everything with--it makes for lively, yet respectful, thought provoking discussions amongst us as a group...but we all agree to disagree and we move on. Gee--imagine a whole world like that....sigh...

  20. If you think that people of different races shouldn't get married then you are a racist. Your objection to the union is race based. No matter how you dress it up. By the way race is a social construct and has no basis in biology.

Just to throw it out there - how about Jodie Sweetin? VERY desperate for some much-needed cash, that one ...

Whomever it is would get on just fine with Common (the rapper), who is quite vocal about the same views.

    Utter bullshit.

Of course if that was what "they" believed, I'm sure it would be written down somewhere.
And if it were written down somewhere, you'd be able to reference it.

We'll take your lack of reference to mean what you're posting is nonsense.

    You are comically ignorant.

I do find it funny that you think repeating a stupid leftist slogan makes you somehow informed on the matter of race.

Wouldn't it be funny if you could explain why Scientists discovered a genetic variant associated with prostate cancer in blacks if race was a "social construct"?

  24. Fun fact: Candace's brother Kirk is currently starring in ads for Liberty that are running here in the south, complete with his Twitter handle. So, it wouldn't surprise me if this was her.

  25. Does anyone in hollywood refuse money on moral ground?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey-ho, Jay! Here's your reference, straight from the United States Supreme Court.

[ Footnote 6 ] According to the interpretation espoused by Goldsboro, race is determined by descendance from one of Noah's three sons - Ham, Shem, and Japheth. Based on this interpretation, Orientals and Negroes are Hamitic, Hebrews are Shemitic, and Caucasians are Japhethitic. Cultural or biological mixing of the races is regarded as a violation of God's command. App. in No. 81-1, pp. 40-41.

@Alli Morgan - I never made the connection between those two! But now, thinking about it, they do look very alike ...

  28. I went to BJU but back then it was just called "high school".

  29. I also thought Melissa Joan Hart.

  30. What does prostate cancer have to do with some school paying a 200k appearance fee?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Brigham Young, BYU? Mormons only started allowing blacks into their church during my lifetime.

  33. Not gonna lie, I would accept $200k from Liberty or Bob Jones U for an appearance. It's not like they can tell me how to spend it afterwards. Of course, why they would hire a pro-choice, gay-marriage endorsing atheist who believes in evolution, climate change and the fossil record is beyond me. Oh, also, interracial marriage is totally a non-issue to me. But, yeah, I would take their money. I'm cool with them being $200k less rich thanks to me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hey @NomNom, maybe they will hire me, because if you trade 'atheist' with 'person who believes in a higher power' and change 'climate change' to 'global cycles' we could be an interesting lecture duo!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Before I jump all over Candace, I'd need some more proof. It must have been a high profile appearance if she got $200K. Was the appearance directly tied to the university? Does she have the same belief? Is she aware of the universities views. It could be her, I just need something more conclusive than what we have here.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Is she aware of the views of the university? Was focused on keeping my daughter from rubbing pinkeye into the other eye..

    ReplyDelete
  37. lisa whelchel (facts of life) & concordia university (irvine, ca).

  38. What possible justification could there be to pay anyone $200k to speak at a college? That burns me. That could fund a year of college for 7 students where my kid goes to school.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh for fuck's sake.

It appears that several of you actually attended Bob Jones "University" and for that, of course, you have my deepest sympathy. Not only mine, I'm sure you have the sympathies of rational and educated people everywhere.

Be careful when you're lighting up those "lawn ornaments" won't you?

  40. Might it be Cameron at Liberty University? Similar to Bob Jones, but no "public" interracial marriage policy.

Candace Cameron has spoken at Liberty numerous times, including at 2013 graduation.

(She may also be a graduate, can't be arsed to look it up.)

    ReplyDelete
  41. FYI, Bob Jones publicly apologized in 2005 for its past racist policies.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Whoever it is I don't blame them one bit. If someone was dumb enough to waste 200K to listen to me talk I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Liberty doesn't have a rule against it...

  44. Candice Cameron. Barf.
