Kim Kardashian Bikini Cover - Does Awful In Sales

The NY Post has a new article this morning that discusses Kardashian fatigue and they use numbers to back it up. The best example is the cover that got so much press attention. It was Us Weekly's Kim Kardashian in a white bikini cover. The magazine paid $110K for the photo. That is a ton of money for one photo. The magazine usually sells 500K copies and they were hoping for a bump of at least 100K. They dropped 100K and only sold 400K copies of the issue. The article also talks about how all tabloid sales are down when they put a Kardashian on the cover. That is great news for the world who is tired of Kardashian faces staring at them every week when they are trying to buy food and booze.

One thing I don't really agree with is they spoke to an analyst who blames it all on Kanye West. I think he has his own issues, but I think with the Kardashians it is just too much for too long and they need to go away for a decade or so to give everyone a chance to find someone else to idolize and make rich for no reason other than someone was willing to have sex for money.

Tom Cruise Drops Lawsuit Against In Touch

So much for the $50M lawsuit filed by Tom Cruise against In Touch for their claims that Tom abandoned Suri. As I predicted all it took for Tom to drop the case was the threat of a deposition of Katie Holmes. That was it for Tom and he dismissed the suit on Friday. The case was not a winner from the outset. People have different definitions of abandon and the guy hadn't seen his child in almost four months. He says he spoke to her regularly but the other issues he was going to have is what has he done since they wrote the story? Have you seen Tom and Suri together? Nope. Know why? He isn't allowed. Scientology won't let him. During his deposition he threw Nicole Kidman under a bus because she had previously said she had seen her kids with Tom once or twice and he said she never spoke to them or saw them. Why? Scientology. As much as Tom would have hated a million questions about his sex life with Katie Holmes in a deposition, imagine a live trial broadcast to the world which had the same questions and questions about Scientology. It would have been a circus and a public relations disaster with a big fat loss against Tom at the end. The only reason anyone even remembers the cover any longer is because Tom sued.

A former assistant sent this in, and I loved the way she wrote it so much, that I kept it pretty much as is, except for my list additions.

I work in fashion and a few years ago was working for a designer named ____________( who is amazing by the way and probably the nicest boss I've ever had). Really big. Loved by Vogue. Well respected.
Anyways she got a call from this former A list celebrity/singer who is now still an A list celebrity and working on that singing thing again's assistant who said that our celebrity loved the designer and wanted to meet with her to discuss possibly designing some couture pieces for her. The designer had done some tie dye tights that our celebrity said were "genius". Which they were.

The designer went to the celebrity's house which was huge.
Our celebrity was in bed and called the designer in. Our celebrity was completely manic and jumped out pulling open the doors to an enormous cabinet that was completely full of pill bottles. This cabinet was 6 foot high and packed to the rafters with nothing but pills. She took a few handfuls and ran into the adjoining room telling the designer that she was working on designing a collection that was really punk.

In the next room there were rails and rails of vintage dresses, vintage might be the wrong word...try 18th and 19th century dresses that would be worth at least 10 grand a piece.
And our celebrity had cut them all up. Huge ballgowns probably worn by royalty were cut to the knee and had patches of random fabrics glued and half stitched on. She warbled on for an hour about working together. She kept leaving and downing more pills and going off on tangents. The designer really wanted to work with her. But after 5 hours of "speaking" with our celebrity she finally left after the celebrity passed out cold on the floor in one big thud.

The designer said she thinks the dresses that had been destroyed probably cost in excess of 1,000,000 pounds ($1.5M).

She paid $25K to keep her hair and makeup people on standby for 8 hours while she was working and had them dress her and style her all for a 30 second photo op at 5am with the pap she had tipped earlier to be waiting.

Nigella Lawson's Former Assistants Found Not Guilty

A jury in London this morning found Nigella Lawson;'s two former assistants not guilty of stealing almost $1.5M worth of goods and cash from Nigella's ex-husband. The trial was an expose more about Nigella than a trial about stealing stuff. The two women claimed they were given permission to use the credit cards of the family to hide Nigella's drug use and apparently the jury believed the assistants and didn't believe Nigella when she said she only used coke six or seven times and pot not that often. the assistants said Nigella uses coke every day and smoked pot in front of her kids.

Barbara Walters Thinks Kimye Relationship Is Fake - Hates Them Both

Barbara Walters never comes out and says anything controversial. It just isn't her nature to do anything that might jeopardize a future interview or force her to apologize for something. It was therefore with great surprise that I found myself watching her Most Fascinating special which I blame on the fact I was sitting on the remote control and couldn't find it to change the channel and was further surprised when she blasted Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. yes, they made her most fascinating list but it doesn't mean she likes them. She says Kim is a fake and that Kanye is an ass and that the couple is probably fake and she does it in a way where you have to watch it a couple of times to really notice that she is giving it to them. You are also watching it more than once to see if her mouth is actually moving as she speaks or if someone just props her up in a chair and a voice over is used later.

Maybe she is getting a little more feisty as she heads towards retirement. Maybe she broke into jenny McCarthy's dressing room and got the good stuff stashed there. I don't know but I applaud her for calling out Kimye. Of course this is the same person who was desperate to interview Paris Hilton and called her a star at some point.
