TSOM. Except that last night's show was a remake -- well, actually, a revival of sorts, I suppose? -- of the stage musical, not the movie. People need to remember that, darn it. They're quite different.
dont know that I have a fav Julie Andrews movie, but I watched Sound Of Music last night. It was the play, so I knew it wld be different. Carrie Underwood was stiff and uncomfortable, BUT~she tried man, she tried. I gotta give her props for that- she sang, danced, knew her lines- she did the very best she could. Audra was awesome, and so were the kids and everybody else. Shout out to actor who played Max- he was great. And it was LIVE!! I gotta give it up for that- you had set changes, dancing, stairs, beds, I mean that they got it all done was awesome, even if some people carped on Kelly And Moyers should get on stage soon, he was great !
OT, just came from celebitchy they can't figure out if they love ya or hate ya ent. Three different articles in the comments talking about CDAN they ain't talkin about any other sites like that.
I love the movie Victor Victoria and I got to see it on stage the first time I went to NYC.
I'm torn about last night's effort. Carrie sang great, but of all the characters she was just off. I think it was her speaking voice. I kept waiting for an accent. I have to give them props for going live though.
Mary Poppins. I loved the show. It was so refreshing to watch quality programming on TV! I'm hoping there are more musicals to come! Who wouldn't want to watch Broadway shows on TV??
Princess Diaries. Because my daughter enjoyed it so much. Want to add that my 19 year old and I totally loved watching SOM last night. Yeah Carrie can't act at all but we didn't care. Loved the music, singing costumes and sets. It was so nice to actually be entertained. By something nice. By something families could enjoy. Something that didn't involve anyone whose name begins with a K or anyone calllinf herself a Real Housewife. Please do more TV like this. 18.5 million viewers don't lie.
I thought I was the only one who knew that movie. Wasn't James Garner perfect as Charley the coward? Her performance was spot on as the embattled widow who was tired of falling for men who didn't make it. Love that movie even though it got heavy handed in the end....:-)
Sound of music is one of my favorites. LOVE Love love the part when she is floating along the green hills singinging the hills are alive with the sound of music...lalalalala... :) That song makes me so happy in a pollyanna way. Yep best movies are old movies.
Julie Andrews has always been a major girl crush for me--I think she is soooo awesome. Impossible to pick--but I love Victor /Victoria and I love Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. I have the recording of her in My Fair Lady-I wish she had done the film of that.
And I love some of the Blake Edwards comedies she did around the time of Victor Victoria.
Sorry I thought SOML wasn't very good. The Broadway actors stole the show--but Carrie and Vampire Bil were not that great--absolutely no chemistry. I did think the kids were decently cast. The little soprano boy was killing the high notes.
I like the idea of them doing this more than I liked the actual show.
Did any of you guys watch that last night?
ReplyDeleteCarrie Underwood has a Kermit the Frog quality in her voice that I can not get behind.
