Was Aaron Rodgers Outed?

The talk today should be about Green Bay's dramatic win yesterday to secure their bid for a spot in the playoffs. Instead, I think Aaron Rodgers is going to be spending a whole lot of time dodging questions about his sexuality after multiple reports say that he was involved in a gay relationship with his one-time roommate and assistant Kevin Lanflisi. The pair reportedly had a falling out after Rodgers refused to publicly come out. Since that time Kevin has been quietly talking and posting Tweets that he removes and generally doing everything he can to out Aaron Rodgers without actually outing him. Kevin has apparently moved out of the home he shared with Rodgers and now lives in California where one of his most recent cryptic Tweets says "Silence always comes with an expiration date."

  6. I wish Enty hadn't seen fit to post this. Even if it's true, Enty didn't need to pour gasoline on the fire by "outing" Rodgers as he's just done here. Anyone with half a brain knows that the NFL is a notoriously homophobic organization.

    ReplyDelete
  7. enty loves to out people now. didn't any of you see one of his recent tweets about closet enabling? his opinion on outing has changed drastically and I wonder why. homophobia is still very much in existence and enty knows it.

  10. Sounds like Kevin is looking for his payday. If Rodgers is gay, I don't blame him for staying closeted while he's an active player. While some teams might be open to having an openly homosexual player, others just won't be. Forget locker room dynamics--think about all the press about a single player who comes out. ALL the stories surrounding the team will be about that one player's sexuality instead of the team's performance on the field. It's not fair and it's not cool, but it's how our media works.

If anyone chooses to come out, though, good for them. They shouldn't hide if they don't want to (even considering all the troublesome media coverage).

    ReplyDelete
  16. I've been following them both on twitter for some time...I don't think Rodgers is gay (and who cares if so...), but there was some falling out and Kevin is using the power of implication...its his 15 minutes. Rodgers is notoriously private and has had a gf from his hometown for ages. The pictures of them "together" could be of any two straight males that are good friends at an event, golfing, etc. or of a personal asst that is also a close friend (I used to be one...his hugging Kevin after the superbowl win isn't that big of a deal...). This is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  17. there is a recent blind item on blind gossip that sounds an awful lot like this

    ReplyDelete
  18. Rodgers could be a flamboyant Queen and still have a job in the NFL. He's one of the best QBs in the league. Any team would take him. His jersey sales may drop, some negative signs would be confiscated in arenas, but he'd play all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Aaron Rodgers, star quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, being outed would be a real coup for the gay agenda, which is why they are pushing this on the internet. I seriously doubt there are any gay players in the NFL, the gays tend to dislike collision sports and stick to the arts and music careers

    ReplyDelete
  20. Kevin is a jerk. He will also probably be single for a very long time. It is not up to anyone else to decide when another person's sexuality is revealed. I wish it didn't matter. One day no-one will care.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have a summer home near Aaron's house in Wisconsin. If Aaron were gay and this guy supposedly lived with Aaron at his house, believe me, the town of 11,000 people would know about it.

And I can assure you, Packer Nation wouldn't give two fucks about Aaron being gay. He is the most beloved man in the state behind God himself. So the thought that he would be pulled from the playoffs for being in a gay scandal is laughable.

    He's an amazing guy.

  27. Yeah, I concur with the people saying that him being gay isn't going to get him forced out of the NFL - he's too good.

I don't know whether it's a bitter ex-friend trying to make trouble or the real deal, but the ONLY reason I care is because he's HAWT and somewhere in my deluded mind that means I have a chance if he's straight. Sigh. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. "I seriously doubt there are any gay players in the NFL"

Sorry I think that is an erroneous assumption.

This is stereotyping all gay men and I am sure gay men come in all shapes and sizes and interests and jobs. From police officers to soldiers to professional athletes to designers to interior decorators just like heterosexual men and women just like gay women.

I think we'd be surprised how many professional athletes are in the closet, gay or bi. We even have professional hockey players coming out now.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Kevin is showing why he was dumped.

  32. I gotta add It's a great testament to how far we've come when people declare it doesn't matter if he's gay. I so love hearing this.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If he is gay I hope he owns it so other pro athletes might stand up too. If he isn't this is incredibly unfair because a denial by somebody who is not gay sounds exactly like a denial by somebody in the closet. So the default assumption is closet.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Enty is not outing anyone, this story is all over gossip sites and has been for over a week.

I think the NFL is extremely homophobic, but it's bs to say we can gossip about everything else except who someone is secretly dating if the person they're secretly dating is of the same sex. This football player got engaged to a woman who he's either deceiving or using as a beard. If the story is true, his ex boyfriend is entitled to his emotions. I'm sure it hurts and sucks to be forced into the closet because you fall in love with someone who is closeted.

  40. Most of the gay stories are on really slimy websites with no credibility. But these Entys don't worry about shit like that.

  43. Rumors have been out (pardon the pun) about him for years and that he and Ryan Braun went beyond friendship. Which would explain his reaction to the PED scandal of Braun.

That being said unless a crime is involved or he's deceiving a woman that believes he's straight I don't think he should be outed by anyone either. Its a bitch move on Kevin's part.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Do I personally care if he is gay.. Hell no! He is a great QB. He does his job, and I haven't heard any douchey stories about him.

Like others, I haven't heard anything about this (cuz my sports site/espen binge wacthing son isn't home), and wonder of the Enties did it for clicks and traffic?

For all we know, Kevin was fired for being caught doing something nefarious and spreading shit to be distracting.

Kevin better knock this shit off, because he will never ever 'assist' in Hollywood, if he keeps trash talking his 'employer'

  45. Why do we have to protect people who choose to live a lie?

If you have sex with someone then you shouldn't expect privacy.

    ReplyDelete
  46. He also has a home in San Diego, where his long time girlfriend Destiny was/is a bartender for several years. There may have been a falling out, Kevin overstepped/stole/took advantage and is young, bitter and exacting revenge.

  47. Drama-Packed Outing of an NFL Player

nfl rainbow[Blind Gossip] Remember how one or more NFL players were rumored to be thisclose to coming out of the closet earlier this year? Well, the situation for one of them just turned ugly!

This player, who is one of the sport’s biggest stars, was sure – and then unsure – that he wanted to come out. A lot of the pressure for him to come out was being put on him by his boyfriend. Long story short: Lots of hinting on social media, lots of fighting, the athlete backed out, the couple broke up, and the boyfriend moved out.

But it didn’t end there! And we have lots of new information about what is going on behind the scenes!

The athlete is now panicking because the ex-boyfriend refuses to go quietly! The ex not only wants back into the relationship…. he still wants the athlete to come out! There is an entire team of lawyers and publicists all over this one, but the usual measures to keep an ex quiet aren’t working with this one. A law suit would make it all public, and a huge payout (we’re talking seven figures) was rejected.

Why is the player balking about coming out? There are actually five major reasons:

He does not want the notoriety of being the first NFL player to come out. (Although he has privately said that he would be OK coming out if a bunch of other guys did it first)
He plays for a team that is not located on one of the coasts, so his team’s fans are much more traditional (read: conservative). He fears being booed both on and off the field.
He is concerned that some teammates would not support him off the field and that some might even do something detrimental to him on the field (e.g. not throw a block when they should) that could result in a career-ending injury.
He does not want to lose his current endorsement deals.
He is a devout Christian, and he fears being ostracized by some members of his family and other members of his faith.

Yes, that sure is a lot of drama packed into one outing! Maybe he could lighten the mood by getting Justin Bieber to photobomb the announcement? Of course, a little victory dance after the announcement would also be awesome!

    Team:

^^^This showed up today as a blind item in Blind Gossip website. Most guess are Aaron Rodgers and his former assistant.

  48. @ Clubber Wang. Two things. I played a wee bit of ball in my day. On every team I played on, there were guys who had "questions" that hung over them...EVERY TEAM FROM LITTLE LEAGUE TO COLLEGE! Oddly some of the best players I have known were some of those in question. Tenacious, vicious and physical. These guys often took better care of their bodies than most of the team. Spent more time lifting, appreciating their male form. Whether it was fighting themselves, or expectations, or the confinement of the closet many were great players, and teammates. To expect that homosexual men would avoid sport is asanine. Who better could better appreciate the development of physique and male camaraderie? Stories innumerous from lore, Achilles, to modern day, Jerry Rice, have hung over men with exceptional physical gifts. One thing though, in the heat of the game you could give a fuck whether someone is gay or straight. Can they do their job, and help you win. That is all. Besides I heard that gays don't like guns, dirt,or physical combat either...so explain why there are so many gay marines.

I'm from Milwaukee, and fairly well-connected, which isn't hard to be in a small city.

Rodgers being gay is hardly news around here. Like I said, it's a small community, and athletes are very visible, if only because there's few places they can go to be social.

I think if we are going to talk about the doings of Wisconsin athletes, the doings of Ryan Braun are FAR more interesting

You do realize that one of the top international rugby union players came out as gay, and that there's a whole gay rugby side in San Francisco. There is no manlier collision sport than rugby, except for maybe Aussie rules football.

Take the pitch against me, boy, and I'll cave your homophobe face in.

That being said, I couldn't care less about who Rogers screws because the Seahawk defensive line is gonna grind him into dogmeat if he brings that cheesehead bullshit into our house in the playoffs. Fear the 12th man, Packers fans!

  58. Hi guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

Aaron Rodgers is our local hometown hero. During the offseason, he and his fiancee are always out and about together in town (and are quite friendly and nice). While I realize this doesn't actually rule him out as being gay, my husband said that he had more than his share of girls in high school and early college.

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents!

Gay folks stay strong true equality is coming. We (humanity) shall overcome! Evolve or die. Natures course. Gays aren't created they are born often from "normal" heterosexual parents. Doubt me, ask yourself, If same sex parents cannot physically procreate how has homosexuality been present in human culture across the existence of civilization... You know kinda like brown skin? ReplyDelete
  63. This news made me both incredibly ecstatic AND totally bummed. I'm an out gay person living a regular working class life with my partner: going to work, raising our child, etc. We LOVE the Packers and absolutely ADORE Aaron Rodgers. For such a great athlete and wonderful guy to be "one of us" is insanely cool. What a fantastic role model for young people, both gay and straight. It's just fantastic.

    But then-

I think of all the assholes in the world who could try and make his life a living hell. Any mistake or misstep on the field being attributed to his sexuality... The possibility he could be injured on purpose... The thought of any of these terrible things makes me sick to my stomach. Then I want to be all protective and say "just stay in the closet buddy- it's cool."

    ReplyDelete
  64. @B. Profane- I know, right? The coolest people come from Chico, I tell ya;-)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Rodgers is good enough that it don't matter what he's fuckin, as long as they are legal. It is about winning and money, if he puts checks in the win column and bigger checks in his teammates hands no one will care.

The only time I envision it becoming an issue is on the downside of his career. Maybe he doesn't get the 2-3 years of past his prime, mediocre that a Montana or Favre got. Rodgers is probably making about $20mill a year, though. He isn't going to need to hang around.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Unless his fiancé and (more than a few) other women of the greater Green Bay area are all "beards" I don't believe it. It's possible, but I would say this sounds more like scorned best friend who wanted more and was shut down, probably in not a very nice way.

Either way, there's isn't a whole lot he could do wrong according to the state of Wisconsin. He's pretty much treated as a god walking amongst us.

(I can make jokes about the Sisters because one of 'em used to be my hairdresser.)

    Go Seahawks!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Maybe the silence having an expiration date threat isn't about sexuality. Maybe drugs or PEDs....

    ReplyDelete
  70. I think what's driving this is that Rogers is so unlikely to have other skeletons in his closet. A QB wouldn't benefit enough from PED's to make the risk worthwhile.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Rodgers is very professional. Rodgers was seriously pissed about Braun lying to him and dropped their business together and probably their friendship. He takes his position in the Packers very serious.

This guy is an an asshole no matter what the secret or motive.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I feel sorry for Rodgers, but if his game is off Sunday, I won't mind a bit! My 49ers are going to win that game anyway, so Rodgers can sort it out in his off season.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I agree with chopchop. Enough said.

    ReplyDelete
  74. When Braun tested positive for PEDs, he appealed his suspension and destroyed a guy's credibility/career to get off on a technicality. He then denied ever taking PEDs.

Come to find out in the BioGenesis case, Braun was one of the dozen(?) MLB players they were providing PEDs to. When the evidence was laid out to him in his meeting w/ MLB officials and they told him, "Sign off that you won't appeal this ban, or we will give you that ban" he accepted a suspension of 62(?) games and I think he publicly admitted using PEDs.

Profane: Saying a QB wouldn't benefit enough from PEDs to take em is extremely narrow minded. One of the biggest benefits is recovery from injury. Having an extra 5 yds of arm strength for the long ball aint bad neither.

    ReplyDelete
  75. The only thing that should matter about a football player is if he can throw a ball, kick a ball or catch a ball. WTF difference does it make who he prefers to sleep with or fall in love with?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Back up to another champion NFL quarterback: Troy Aikman. Rumors for YEARS in Dallas that he was gay.

Proof? No visible g/f. Turns out that he was incredibly private and was dating a woman IN the Cowboys organization.

Therefore, no visible g/f w/him on trips, team outings, etc. because she purposefully stayed out of group pix. They could 'hang out' on the 'down low' because of the business relationship. And their relationship occurred before invasive social media.

Yeah, i know. They're divorced now after a number of years of marriage and several children, but you never know how sneaky 'The Gays' can be :-[

(Talk about profiling? 'The Whites? The Blacks? The 'Noo-Nows'? Oh, yeah, all groups are absolutely 100% homogenized and identical in all aspects.)

PLEASE, just give people some space and judge them on their public personas. [Although i'm not real big on political, or any other kind, of public 'in your face' hypocrites -- Just give people space and privacy in their private lives, please.]

  77. "Profane: Saying a QB wouldn't benefit enough from PEDs to take em is extremely narrow minded. One of the biggest benefits is recovery from injury. Having an extra 5 yds of arm strength for the long ball aint bad neither."

I suspect I have rather more experience on the subject than you. I sure as hell know a lot about recuperating from injuries incurred by violent sports.

Note that I qualified my statement with "worth the risk." The arm strength that pro QB's use to zip long throws they develop long before they make it to the NFL. Weight training to increase muscle mass for their throwing motion is actually detrimental because it decreases flexibility. You're not gonna gain an extra 5 yards on your long ball, not without screwing up your arm. That's why pro QB's generally weight train just for overall strength maintenance.
