Today's Blind Items- The Shoplifters

A few weeks ago in NYC this A+ list mostly movie actor walked into a store with three of his friends. One of the friends is a former almost A list actor who really has scrambled for roles the past couple of decades. Over the course of an hour the four people went in and out of the store three times. At the end of their visits the store was missing two jackets. One of the jackets cost $65K and the other jacket about half that amount. No one noticed the items were stolen until they showed up missing during an inventory check right before Christmas. The surveillance video was looked at and on six separate cameras were our actor and his friends walking out of the store with the jackets. The owner of the store called our actor's people and sent them a copy of the video which the owner also keeps on his phone and is happy to show anyone who buys him a drink. The actor's people said they were just random friends our actor met a club. Umm, they are the same group of people he has been running with for years. Apparently they have run this little scam before. Not so much to make money but just to get a little rush. After some back and forth and a little warning about TMZ maybe getting the videos our actor paid for the items.

    1. That's probably the whole reason they stole it. Big rip off! No way even being rich & famous would pay that price!

  20. We've got a lot of Steelers fans living here @Pgh and their bar is about a mile away from my house and I think I heard some strange noises around a quarter to eight that didn't sound like birds or squirrels.

  21. Who is pussy party?
@sandybrook, lol. I can picture Deniro shambling through the store " What is this shit?! In my day, this kind of crap would a got your ass kicked... How much? BULLSHIT! I bought a house for this in 65.."
Pesci chiming " They sure stick it to you around here! They get you at both ends. First with the look and then with the hospital bill! They love to stick it to stars like us!"
Deniro gives Pesci the " crazy rooster side eye"look he perfected in 'Analyze This' ,as Dustin Hoffman mumbles the odds of getting caught on camera divided by the number of apparent cameras...

  24. First of all…they walked out and there were no security tags on the garments…?
Second who does inventory more than once a year ?
    So it's a small store …or is it a big store ala Barney's ?
    This sounds like bull…

    1. @MISCH, good point. Maybe the store didn't want to risk damaging the clothes with tags and thought the obvious cameras were enough deterrent. Of course these guys are used to them and probably didn't even notice them, lol.

  30. @ msgirl Leo is 39. I think Lucas is 38. So yes they're old enough for this blind. After Witness Lucas didn't really have any other big movies. At least not that Leo didn't get him.

  31. A lot of stores that have those items probably only let certain people in. I got followed around the Metropolitan Museum of Art by the security guard back in 2010. Do not know why. Was followed by a security guard in a discount chemist in my local neighbourhood here in Australia, do not know why. In both cases they are shit security guards as I am the last person to touch, steal etc. In the meantime the art thieves & shoplifters were having a field day.

  32. A jacket that costs $65 K is the real crime, wanna guess what the markup on that was?

people can charge what they want for things. you don't have to buy it. Definitely Leo and what a douche bag

  41. Thank you, PghGirl. I'm glad you enjoy my nonsense.

I can't stand this type of stuff from celebs/rich. Entitled a-holes. Store owner should have waited until the check cleared, then sold the video.

  42. Just cause I wanted a reason to google him.

    ReplyDelete
  43. $65k? Really?? Not $6500??? Was it fur?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Rich people really can do anything they want. In NYC, an African-American teenager buys a $300 belt with his own, legally earned money, gets arrested. Movie stars steal clothes and jewellery, no problem. ::barf::

  45. This jacket has to be 6.5K, not 65K. Places with prices in the high 5 digits have private sessions with rich clientele. They don't have that stuff out on racks.

  47. 6.5k not 65K. Seriously there is no jacket for men hanging on a hanger in NY right now worth 65K unless it's made of gold thread or belonged to some one super duper famous (and dead). Even then that's what over pounds of gold?
