Taylor Swift Is Destroying Beach In Rhode Island - Neighbors Hate Her
As you may remember, last year Taylor tried to keep people off the public beach in front of her house by having her security team be very aggressive and perform illegal acts. Public attention on the issue got Taylor to back down but not before she angered everyone in the village of Watch Hill. Now though she is trying to permanently alter the coastline of Rhode Island and that is going to make everyone in the state ticked off at her.
In an article from yesterday which which will no doubt be continued this week a Rhode island journalist discovered that Taylor is installing a sea wall in front of her house without any permits or at least not the correct permits. Everyone seems to be a bit confused about whether permits are needed for altering the ocean front or changing the tides of the beach. This is probably why Taylor didn't buy a house in Malibu because she would never be able to move a piece of sand, let alone bring in a fleet of bulldozers and remove boulders from the ocean and put them in front of Taylor's house.
Yes, the same boulders that have probably been there for centuries protecting the coastline and providing a habitat for sea life are now going to be used to make sure the four or five days Taylor spends at her place better for her and damn the rest of the town or the state.
uhoh its female Enty day if no one knows if its legal or illegal then she has the right to try and build one and someone should get an injunction to stop her if they dont want it there. Until then its her right to build it.
ReplyDeleteStupid Bitch!
ReplyDeleteWHAT A MONSTER!!!
ReplyDeleteGod, even her drama is boring as shit.
LOL
Delete@KRISTIN
Hilariously, I have heard from friends who vacation there she only goes to random diners, etc at very odd hours doing the whole sunglasses inside thing to avoid being mobbed despite the fact Watch Hill is a very upscale place without a ton of young people who even know or care who she is. Girlfriend needs to go to college and get some reality in life. Or at least a real, age appropriate friend or two.
ReplyDeleteApparently this is the Entern who doesn't read the articles they link day.
ReplyDeletePeople are confused as to whether or not she needs permits, you say?
READ YOUR OWN F*CKING ARTICLE.
Here's a hint - the headline:
"No town permits required for Taylor Swift's seaside wall "
required is multiple syllable word may be tough to decipher.
ReplyDeletelol Bacon Ranch. Between the numerous glaring grammar mistakes and poor reading comprehension skills as demonstrated in paraphrased article summaries from other websites, I'm convinced The Enties are not from a primarily English speaking country.
ReplyDeleteTo me, this is not worthy of being on CDAN.
ReplyDeleteHa! @sandy
ReplyDeleteIt's more of a fluff piece, anyway. Guy is just talking about how he was out for a walk near her house and saw the construction, began asking questions. Love how that somehow means everyone in town is outraged.
@elise is using too many big words in her synopsis, floats over the Enties heads.
ReplyDeletenewspapers these days @Bacon. They do anything to sell one copy!
ReplyDeleteI think you may be onto something, elise :)
ReplyDeletelol, not that it matters. I mean it though. No one gets a passing grade from an American school making the awful grammar errors you find here. I really suspect the writers are foreign born.
ReplyDeleteStories more interesting than this crap:
ReplyDeleteSelena Gomez allegedly has lupus
Bieber's movie bombed
Marge Simpson nudies online (seriously)
I admit to being something of a Swift apologist, but there seems to be a lot more to this story than Bitter!Enty's point-of-view.
ReplyDelete@elise, I hate to say it, but as a former English teacher I saw many kids getting passing grades despite not knowing a pronoun from a conjunction. The system is broken. :(
This will most likely become a big deal. As the article stated, within 200 feet of the ocean, you need to obtain permission and permits from the Coastal Resources Management Council.
ReplyDeleteIf she is within the 200 feet and is in fact building within the mean hide tide line, the CRMC will be coming after her.
I have lived in RI for 25 years and still considered an outsider and nothing pisses of Rhode Islanders more than people from out of town coming in and making changes.
For five years I taught in a community college and was appalled by some of the papers I received from students. My then grade schooler could have been more coherent.
ReplyDelete@pugster, that's because they're not proofing the plagiarized inserts.
Delete@Elise & @karen A foreigner would probably have better grammar than someone educated through the American system, for the reason @karen gave.

ReplyDeleteThe article says the job has CRMC permits. But around here (CT) anything affecting the tidal flow, etc. requires review and permitting from the Army Corps of Engineers - don't know if the CRMC is equivalent, but the ACOE could be one more interested party. Given that permit fees are a source of revenue for the (admittedly wealthy, but they still like their income) town, and that Ms. Swift has so much money, I'm surprised no town permit was required.
ReplyDeleteIf you want privacy buy a piece of property with private beach in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to believe they would grant people permits to build seawalls unless you can prove an issue with the tide itself not because you want privacy and how sad if this is just another case of money buys you anything you want, even this.
Esp since you know this broad will get bored and sell this house sooner than later. In which case the locals should insist the wall be dismantled.
Oh and there would be no time to stop her - she did a very clever thing all developers do if they are worried about possible protests - in our neck of the woods from the aboriginals or the tree huggers, do the work at the time of year when everyone is too busy and government offices are closed, oh like the Xmas holidays and weekends. Touche Ms. Swift, include that in your song about your ocean wall - is that symbolic for the stone wall around her heart?
ReplyDeleteFYI there are laws in place where developers cannot cut trees without permission and some developers just send someone out on a weekend to cut down the trees and they pay the fine, because the fine is cheaper than appealing the decision to refuse permission to cut down the trees and the delay on developing the land and under our tax lines the fine could arguably be a tax deductible cost of doing business.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone assume that the sea wall isn't necessary because of tidal issues and other reasons people do this literally every day in coastal areas?
ReplyDelete@ktmonster, homegirl's house is so high up that if the tide hit it, we'd all be dead because it'd be the apocalypse.
ReplyDeleteI just can't stand her
ReplyDeleteEnty you have no idea what you're talking about. Sea walls like this being built are a routine part of life at high-end beachfront homes in New England and Long Island Sound. The rocks aren't dredged up from the icy depths, they're shipped in via barge. A sea wall doesn't 'change the tides', that does not even make any fucking sense. The permits almost ALWAYS come from coastal conservation commissions or the state environmental department. The walls are to prevent beach front erosion, nothing more.
ReplyDeleteI live in RI. There are NO private beaches in Ri. All beaches open to everyone. But, weirdly enough, the land can be privately owned. So if u swim there or dock there u r ok. She shld get off herself, no gives a rats ass what she does or is dying to see her.
ReplyDeleteThis makes little sense, Swift is a fake ass fake phony fake. Same old, same old. Did y'all see the tea party Skype-y thing w Selena, Taylor and their chat with Demi Lovato? It's to make them all seem so wholesome and niiiiice. Whatever, press panderers.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine something like this being done without proper permits. The town might not issue those but some kind of state or federal environmental agency would.
ReplyDeletesounds like a non-story but some local yokal reporter trying to get a name for himself with a hit article.
ReplyDeleteWe all know Swift lives in fairytale candyland. Maybe she is just trying to create a barrier so she doesn't have to see regular people and split the difference with the town she gets some privacy and they have access to the public beach.
Like said above if someone is that upset about it like this writer they will file a grievence with the town or something.
Re: Grammar and native English speakers:
ReplyDeleteMost of the people I know who produce word soup instead of coherent sentences have English as their first (or only) language. Non-native English speakers tend to be totally opposite.
