You know I am a sucker for a great kindness item from a celebrity. I love when a celebrity does something for someone else and not to get publicity for themselves. A great example is what Paul Walker did for a couple way back in 2004. He bought their engagement ring and the couple didn't know until this week when the manager of the store finally let the secret out. Apparently back then the couple were shopping for engagement rings and couldn't afford the one they wanted and walked out with nothing. During their time in the shop Paul walker was in there and spoke to the man and found out he was in the military and had returned from Iraq. After the couple left Paul bought the $10K engagement ring and the couple was brought in to receive it but were never told who bought it until now when the manager decided it would be ok to reveal.
How can you not love a guy who did that and so many other acts of kindness in his life.
So sweet and kind.
ReplyDeleteDamn onions.
ReplyDeleteThe more that comes to light about Paul Walker, the more I realize what an amazing person we lost. So unassuming and genuinely caring about the things he did, not in it for the publicity. This is a lovely story.
ReplyDeleteThat guy was a total class act. I am not a fan of his movies (Eight Below is a sentimental exception), but he did so much good with his celebrity. He will be missed.
ReplyDeletetotal class
ReplyDeletewonderful guy
A beautiful man inside and out.
ReplyDeletePaul Walker > Doug Stodden
ReplyDeleteI had no idea who Paul was at the time of his death, but the stories coming out make me love him. Such a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteI have tears in my eyes. Just wow.
Paul Walker seemed to be a truly beautiful person inside out. His death really saddened me, but at least attention is being paid to all of his good works, particularly his charity Reachout Worldwide.
ReplyDeleteHe will forever be on my top 5 list.
Very sad that he died so young. I was always gaga over his sheer hotness but its nice to find out he was just as beautiful inside as well.
ReplyDeleteWith all of this eulogizin', I'm really surprised no one has brought up the fact that he started dating his GF when he was 33 and she was 16 (!) I don't have a problem with this really...there are many young people who are mature and ready to have a reelaysh at 16...I'm just surprised that there's been no snarky or sensationalized story about this aspect of his life.
ReplyDelete@adef I read that somewgere yesterday. Its disturbing. The media stories have stayed away from that aspect of his life though.
ReplyDeleteThe engagement ring story is awesome.
ReplyDeleteadsf: I've read snark about his GF's age when they started dating on various sites/message boards. It hasn't been entirely ignored by any means.
That's so kind and generous. I'm glad to hear all the good he has done. Still a 33yo going after a 16yo is skeevy. Wonder what happens to her life now.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, he sounds like he was a pretty kind and generous guy. From all that I've heard about his charity work and his own foundation, he understood that he could take his own success and pay it forward in the world.
ReplyDeleteCan't comment about the dating a young girl controversy, as I'm not in the know. But, if that's the worst of the skeletons in his closet, it's pretty tame when you ponder some of the truly revolting blinds about A+ listers we've read.
I teared up when I read this last night.
ReplyDeleteTearing up. Its all anyone could ask for; people speaking about your generosity and kindness after you're gone. Hugs to heaven.
ReplyDeleteWatch running scared it is excellent
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of him either, and was so saddened to hear what a wonderful man the world has lost -- until I read the part about the 16 year old. I have a daughter that age and I would kill any 33 year old guy who tried to date her. I hope that story is not true.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that he would be the reveals for a slew of kindness blinds. I had no idea he was so giving and caring with those in need. The fact that he didn't do any of it for show just makes his loss so much more heartbreaking. We really lost a good guy, the kind we need a lot more of.
ReplyDeleteIt is true. She was 16 when they began dating. I actually don't have a huge issue with it, mainly because of the way in which it was handled. She wasn't hidden or treated like a dirty little secret. She also wasn't flaunted or treated like arm candy. From everything I have read, it was a healthy, stable, loving relationship.
ReplyDeleteI have a 15 year old daughter and if she met someone like Paul Walker at 16 (the man being 33) and he behaved with the same amount of respect, I would be okay with it. It's also important to note that 7 years later they were still together. He didn't use her and abandon her. She seems absolutely destroyed by his death.
The age difference is not unusual within LDS. What is unusual is that they stayed together 7 yrs & didn't marry.
ReplyDeleteI like that he was religious but never forced it at people.
ReplyDeleteThe one positive thing to come out of this guy's early tragic passing are these stories. This one, and I read something about him going straight to Alabama after a weather-related catastrophe to help out hands-on, while also spending millions of his own $ there. He also was in Haiti after the quake doing good. Other celebs, please take note: THIS is how you do it.
ReplyDeleteI'm with @MommaBear and others about his relationship w/his young gf. If he was truly interested in her, respectful and she and her family were ok with it, then ok. It's not scurrilous and hardly the worst story about a celeb given all we read here and elsewhere.
I forgot about him being in that dog movie. I loved that movie. So sad. Was he LDS?
ReplyDeleteSo nice to know they are still together!
ReplyDeleteWhat a kind thing to do. I never knew much about Paul Walker and sad to say, it surprises me to hear what a nice guy he was. Only because we're get so used to all celebrities be d-bags. He seems like he was a really great guy.
ReplyDeleteOh, come on. Where are all the screams of "pedophile" that ALWAYS accompany information like this? I get it; it's okay since it was someone you like. That's what made it okay for Jimmy Page to date a 12-year-old too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good guy with such a beautiful heart! I agree about his relationship. I truly think age is just a number to them and they truly loved each other. I love that he wasn't into the plastic fake Barbie. Just a natural looking woman! R.I.P Paul!

ReplyDeleteI can't even read anything too in-depth about Paul Walker right now. His death is just too sad.
