A jury in London this morning found Nigella Lawson;'s two former assistants not guilty of stealing almost $1.5M worth of goods and cash from Nigella's ex-husband. The trial was an expose more about Nigella than a trial about stealing stuff. The two women claimed they were given permission to use the credit cards of the family to hide Nigella's drug use and apparently the jury believed the assistants and didn't believe Nigella when she said she only used coke six or seven times and pot not that often. the assistants said Nigella uses coke every day and smoked pot in front of her kids.

This broad's yappin! They turned a criminal trial into a circus event where Nigella was on trial, not the assistants, because her douche bag of an ex wanted revenge in the court of public opinion.

ReplyDeleteI don't think there was any fraud. Probably marital assets that she had the right to spend, but was shady as hell in doling it out and trying to hide it and her drug use.

ReplyDeleteSometimes the truth hurts. I was crushed when I heard Hulk Hogan wasn't all about the Prayers, Working Out and Vitamins, but about Pot, Miller Lite and Steroids. One of the tough parts of growing up is finding out your heroes aren't perfect.
Way to go enty - I'm not entirely sure that it's relevant to the verdict whether the jury believes that Nigella shoots up heroin hourly or never so much as takes an aspirin for a headache. Pretty much completely irrelevant to whether these women defrauded or not.

Let's say she was doing that much weed and coke. STILL not a justification for her husband choking her. Demanding rehab, divorcing, calling social services if it's in front of the kids - yes, all options. Choking - NO.

Glad the folks in the UK stand behind her regardless of her partying. It's obvious her kids are well taken care of but they don't need to see their mother physically (or emotionally) abused.

ReplyDeleteAs Nigella's biggest fan, I at first thought this whole thing was a setup on the part of her asshole husband. But after scouring the British news webs and reading countless stories, my theory is as follows: The two sisters worked for Nigella and Charles for 10-plus years, running for them morning, noon and night and given unlimited access to the credit cards and money, caring for the children, cleaning the house, etc. Throughout their run, they are privy to Nigella's darkest secrets - daily drug use; awful marriage; desire for stardom in the U.S. For whatever reason, the marriage disintegrates: Nigella's drug use; new show in the US; the children are older now and BAM: Saatchi wants to know where the fuck all his money is. The needle points to the two sisters, who were just doing what was common protocol for all of these years. Now, the sisters are like the kids caught in a nasty divorce. The End.
I agree with the jury.
At the end of the day, I actually feel like Nigella is the one who betrayed the employees.

ReplyDeleteNigella's first husband, John Diamond was well liked and respected here in the UK. Public feeling to Saatchi is quite the opposite.
ReplyDeleteUndoubtedly Nigella is highly intelligent (Oxford educated) and naturally lovely looking, however her image over the past decade has been carefully crafted by Saatchi and he projected her to stardom.
Its clear she was/is hoping to break the States like Gordon Ramsay & Jamie Oliver.
However with her own admission of drugs, who knows.
In Britain when Kate Moss was caught snorting cocaine, we kind of accepted it and she is still everywhere, but I'm not sure how much Kate works in the States.
Kate's image is also a party girl and not like Nigella's "domestic goddess"
Personally think the Jury gave the correct verdict and there's much more to this story than meets the eye
I hate cooking shows, but I don't understand why she'd get ditched for coke use. Does America have no idea what the drug usage is like everywhere back stage, I guess? I don't give a shit if he hubby yoked or choked her, I'd be willing to be 3 figures he's an abuser. I recognize his body language as I've lived that life.

They only balked when Nigella moved out and the sisters would have no buffer between Saatchi, the paperwork was introduced at trail by their legal people and accounting firm. Idiots!
