  1. Where is the Big O? I thought she was a lock for best supporting actress.

  2. Leto, McConaughey, Adams. Also, anyone who gives anyone from that Butler mess an award should be caned. Or, forced to listen to Brad Pitt-Stank's "accent" 24/7.

  3. Oh, and Aaron Paul was robbed!

  4. Yay for Brooklyn Nine Nine and Andy Samberg!!

Chiwetel Ejiofor is going to win and should get his Oscar speech ready. He has been a consistently great actor and its about time he gets some recognition.

    2. @FSP- you must be a film critic because it's not even out yet!

    3. @FSP@Lotta Have seen his pop lock routine in the trailers? He really wants that Oscar nom.

  6. I thought there should have been someone from Orange is the New Black for Supporting Actress. I felt the supporting actresses in that show made it what it was over Taylor Schilling. She's kind of blah to me.

I always thought Modern Family was overrated. Gave it a chance a few times and I don't think I laughed. Sofia is not funny and I don't know why she's always nominated.

  7. I'm glad to see Jon Voight get a nod. He is fantastic in Ray Donovan.

  8. Love love love Brooklyn 99.

  9. No Michael B. Jordan for Fruitvale? No Fruitvale period?? Also I loooove Amy Poehler and Lupita!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Where are the Brit shows(don't get me started on Downton...)? American TV sucks! And no offense to Meryl but August Osage looks awful top to bottom...how does anyone get a nom for that???

    ReplyDelete
  11. KT--- I agree. imo, Kate Mulgrew should have been nominated Best Supporting for OITNB.

    ReplyDelete
  12. libby, either her, Uzo Aduba or Danielle Brooks. The supporting cast was awesome I thought.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I guess they had to pick ONE black movie and went with 12 years. Not one mention of The Butler anywhere, SMDH.

    ReplyDelete
  14. YES! Tatiana Maslany got a nod, she's incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I feel so uncultured, I've seen barely any of these, including the tv shows. I love OITNB, but cannot STAND Taylor Schilling

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree @msgirl!! I love her!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wow, of all the people to pick on OITNB, they picked the least interesting character actress. Ugh. And no love for Homeland after last year's wins?

The only person in The Butler who deserved a nod was Forest Whittaker. The rest were all caricatures.

  18. If Aaron Paul doesn't win, I'm gonna choke a bitch.

    1. @Karen - he'll probably cry just like his character.

  19. So pleased to see Masters of Sex getting a couple of nods. It's the best thing I've seen in ages, but no-one seems to be watching it!

    ReplyDelete
  20. L'auteur---What makes me sick, is that they picked not only the DULLEST of all the actresses, but she's also the 'pretty' whitest one. GRRRR.

AT LEAST that jason Biggs never had a chance. l.o.l.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I had to push myself through the first two episodes because they were SO BAD, and I didn't get the OITNB buzz at all. Once I got further in, I realised it was just Taylor Schilling and Jason Biggs that were ruining it, everyone else was awesome

    ReplyDelete
  22. love Kate Mulgrew and agree she should have a nom

    don't love Masters though

and Tatiana finally gets acknowledgement-best thing you might be missing is her performance

    ReplyDelete
  23. A friend of mine who just started watching Orange asked me about it and I told him to give it a couple of episodes, maybe three, and don't focus on the blonde. He was confused, isn't the show about her? You'll see, just don't focus on the bland, boring Taylor Schilling.

@KT, couldn't agree more. Vergara rarely gets any funny lines, all she does is the accent and the boobs.

  24. So American Hustle is a comedy? What?

    ReplyDelete
  25. So annoyed mad men and walking dead get zilch. I thought Scott Wilson on dead was great this year and Hamm deserves to win - never does.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, why no Mad Men?!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I hope this year Amy Adams dress falls apart as she walks on stage to accept an award.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love my girl Jen but Lupita really deserves to win this one. That woman is absolute perfection.

COsign the Taylor Shillings dislike. I couldn't watch OITNB because of her.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm a Mad Man fan, too. I was wondering if maybe the air dates affected noms? I have no idea. I don't watch a lot of TV, so I can't say what is the best/worst. I just know I love Mad Men!

I love Downton Abbey, too. And Newsroom. That didn't get any noms.

Masters of Sex looks interesting. I don't think we get Showtime anymore. I think The Husband ixnayed some of our Comcast plan since it costs like 9 million dollars per month.

I'm bracing myself for Lena Dunham on the red carpet. Shudder.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Glad Redford didn't get shut out on a nomination like yesterday... And that Jonah Hill did.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @libby Welcome back! And I didn't get that Taylor was the "pretty white one," but you are right. Man, there are so many excellent actresses on this show--and they pick the WORST one. Love Kate Mulgrew and Uzo Aduba. I'm kinda over Laura Prepon, though.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also, the GG nominations don't mean that much in the bigger scheme of award season. The SAGs are a closer representation to what we will see for the Oscars. I'm sure Butler will get its due.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah, "Before Midnight" was a real knee-slapper! I mean, when they were arguing viciously for the entire last half of the movie...what a laugh fest!

And don't get me started on "Nebraska!" Following a man battling dementia on a cross country trip with his son and facing all the errs of his past was SUCH a giggle! (BTW, I LOVED this movie, and cannot recommend it high enough, but it certainly is not a "comedy.")

Note to the Golden Globe Committee: Dramas with comic relief are DRAMAS.

  34. Thanks, L'auteur. I've been lurking.

Taylor seems to be doing the least 'acting' of anyone on that show. Privilege portrays privilege---EDGY!

  35. Ooh yay, Julie delpy finally got a nom! Love all the midnight movies wither and etan hawke. I identify so strongly with her character its not even funny such a complicated woman.

    ReplyDelete
  36. How is it possible that Steve McQueen is on the list? As far as I know, this actor died in 1980.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree about the Taylor Schilling comments about her being dull. I love the show, not because of her or Biggs, the supporting cast steals it for me. I like seeing their backstories the most.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I hate Taylor Schillings. They should have nominated Taryn Manning, she does amazing and is perfect in her role. Taylor is MEH, reminds me of the chick who is in American Horror Story (Lana is season 2, blind chick in season 3). Also dull and blah. They did the same with the Emmy's; nominating Emilia Clarke for GoT, while other (much better) actors got nothing. Silly. Gwendoline Christie should get an award for Brienne, not dragonlady with her awkward acting. (love her character though)

Happy Jessica Lange got nominated, the third time for her part in American Horror Story (or was that at the Emmy's?). She is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Also about OITNB; Red is also an amazing actress, just as the blond girl who died in the closet (won't give spoilers). Or crazy eyes. Or anyone besides Taylor (or Laura Prepon, she also bores me on the show).

    ReplyDelete
  40. i hope Sandra B wins. Blanchett is trying too hard, annoying.

  41. I just read that Amy Adams and JLaw kiss in American Hustle. I'm gonna have to bring tissues to the theater.

  43. also love James Spader in everything he does-he's just the best

and the Count always has an Amy Adams comment-love her too

I'm banking on Kerry Washington this time though

  44. @FSP, if he cries, I'll cry, too. I never watch awards shows, but I might this time just to see if he and Bryan Cranston win.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @sarah - I like Masters of Sex, too. I personally think Spartacus should have won something over the part few years. Homeland wasn't great last year but I think it is better this year.

  46. Another fan of Tatiana M here! Amazing actress, just amazing.

  50. Where is Hugh Jackman?? He should have been nominated for "Prisoners" and "Prisoners" should have been nominated for Best Picture Drama!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. What??? What about The Butler, Homeland, The Walking Dead, nominations of some sort should have been nominated...oh brother here we go again... and the caption on one of the news sites is "we got it right" uh...that's a no...

    ReplyDelete
  52. @Ms Cool: agreed about Spartacus. I think they didn't get nominated because the show is not American.
(or aren't foreign shows excluded? *feels dumb*)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Meryl Streep is just a given now.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I just take the noms and put it on my want to view list. I too haven't seen half of these movies..Strike that..All of them. I did see "The Butler" and it was good because of Forest and honestly, Okra wasn't bad either.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Screw Aaron Paul, Jack Huston's work on Boardwalk Empire is mind-blowing.

If Lena Dunham wins Best Actress I hope Amy Poehler brains her with the statuette.

  56. It seems like just yesterday that we got through enduring an excruciatingly long and tortuous award campaign. Is it that time again already? :((((
