Ethan Hawke Frequently Cheats On His Wife - Probably - Says Monogamy Is Outdated

A few months ago Ethan Hawke gave an interview where he admits he cheated on Uma Thurman all the time and that he saw nothing wrong with it and that he just wasn't ready for a committed faithful relationship which made the cheating ok because he was honest about it. In a new interview he implies he is cheating on his current wife and that monogamy is outdated.

"People have such a childish view of monogamy and fidelity. 'He's cheated so he's bad, she's cheated so she's bad,' as opposed to a recognition that our species is not monogamous," he explained. "To act all indignant, that your world has been rocked because your lover wasn't faithful to you, is a little bit like acting rocked that your hair went grey."

He says that he is committed to his current wife but didn't say that commitment equals fidelity. The guy is a jerk and I'm not sure what you expect from a guy who has sex with the nanny along with a bunch of other people and ends up marrying the nanny. I'm always curious when I read these kinds of things if the wife is also allowed to be with other people. I'm guessing the answer is no and that it only applies to Ethan Hawke and if his wife did something he would leave her in a second.

  1. That's a very convenient excuse for a cheater.

  2. What a jerk. I hope she entered this marriage fully aware of his views and if not, girl should get out now. For that matter, why even get married?

  3. Well, I certainly hope Uma was getting hers on the side during their marriage, too.

  4. He's so repulsive. Ugh.

Monogamy isn't for everyone, but damn, if you know you're not going to be faithful, don't get married. Asshole.

  5. Convenient excuse.

  6. If the girl with the tatoos is his current wife then I suspect she's been to a rodeo or two in her day. There is just nothing that says "SLUT" more definitevly then tattoos on a girl.

  7. @Harry Knuckles I have a tattoo and I am FAR from a slut. It just depends on the person and why they decided to get a tattoo. I personally did it to mark changes I went through in my life.

Ethan is a manho. I used to have a major crush on him growing up. Now I feel like I need to take multiple showers every time I see a pic of him. It's amazing how someone can turn physically disgusting when you don't like their personality.

  8. What a tool. First of all, calling someone who cheats bad isn't "childish" - they cheated. If you have an open relationship, then they didn't cheat. If you don't have an open relationship, then your partner expected you to be faithful to them - and you cheated. Duh.

Second, it's actually Ethan Hawke who has "a childish view of monogamy and fidelity". A childish view would be not understanding that monogamy means being with one person and fidelity means staying true to that person. He's saying we're not monogamous as a species, but what does that have to do with a "childish view of monogamy"? He's a tool and a cheater.

  9. being committed and having an open relationship is possible. Im polandry to begin with so i have a different view on things. Enty only says he thinks hawkes wife isnt allowed to be with others, but we dont know that. from what i read between the lines so long as they are back into each others arms at the end of the night playing wiht others is fair game. I think he sounds like an asshole cuz I dont think Uma was aware of all this, and its trashy to talk about her like that after their relationship.... He is not my cup of tea, jsut like monogamy isnt his lol

    "MONOGAMY IS OUTDATED"

I feel the same way every time I see a hot guy.....

  11. So he's as cheesy as he is sleazy. Great combo, Ethan.

  12. I think people that cheat are the type of people who are extremely insecure and never content...It's easy for celebrities to say it's ok to cheat and u can just get divorced. But most normal married people don't have millions to fall back on, so that's very easy for him to say! Jerk!

  13. Actually he just repeated what he always says: he doesn't believe in monogamy

  14. Why the fuck did he get married for a second time?

  15. I have seen ferrets that are more attractive than that prick. Any girl who would jump on that should be charged with bestiality.

  16. He was behind in line in a Soho store a few weeks ago, not attractive at all…

  17. Always found Ethan Hawke and Steven Dorff to be two of the sleaziest/creepiest guys in Hollywood. Now that I think of it, isn't most everyone there sleazy and creepy?

  18. All women have been warned, so if you get into a relationship with this guy no public crying jags please.

  19. He's realistic, that's all.

  21. He is free to be live what he wants. I guess he marries for the more esoteric benefits like...sickness and health and lower insurance rates. Have a commitment ceremony and get over your trauma that leads you to repeat your parents actions...your nonconformist rebellion is missing the key ingredient of integrity. Don't conform at all.

  22. He married the nanny?!?!???!! That's a special kind of skeevy.

  23. What a silly and misleading post.

Hawke says definitively in the article he is monogamous.

I guess the bitter hag writing this didn't bother to read it.

  24. Hey Jerk Off...If this is the way you feel you should never have gotten married (twice, really?).

PS You are not aging well. I think that is payback for your fucked up attitude.

  25. Is he honest to his children then? Daddy's going to f**k someone who isn't mommy tonight, see you tomorrow. But don't tell mommy.

An open relationship where only one person gets to screw around or the other party has not been informed is not an open relationship.

What he does not understand that being unfaithful when you've pledged to be faithful is a major breach of trust in a relationship, and all the lying to hide that just compounds the breach of trust, that's why it's a big deal. What a knob. Again if both parties are OK with it, fine. But many of these men who cheat on their women have a double standard. It is OK for them to cheat not OK for the wife so please I doubt few of them have open relationships.

But that dates back historical to cave man times because you need to be sure who the father of the babies are eh? Otherwise in a patriarchal society you get chaos. If it is matriarchal no big deal.

  27. I see many of the same people who are all, "Get it" with Robin Thicke and wife now are all moralistic.

Just because polyamory isn't everyone's cup of tea doesn't necessarily make him a scumbag (well, not for that at least), assuming it is an informed decision for all involved. And for all we know, his wife both knows, and is cool with it (he is speaking openly about it, after all). People don't marry just for monogamy and commitment is not defined by sexual exclusivity. People marry to have children, to have financial security, because they love the person (I think we all know that love and sex are two different things).

So maybe he's an ass (I've always thought he was a pretentious douchecanoe- poems, really?) but I don't think he's an ass if he's real and honest about his adherence to sexual commitment...and none of us here know if he is or isn't.

  30. Oh what a bunch of crap! Anyone buying what he's selling?

  31. I don't care if he's monogamous as long as his wife is on board with the situation.

However, he does smell bad. Or at least he did in the 90s when I was next to him at a thrift store. Yes, he was at a thrift store. So, I think of him when we get smelly actor clues. Maybe he is better at showering these days.

  32. Maybe he's just saying relationships are complicated, y'all, but hey, Mr. Interviewer, I sure LOVE talking about my past infidelities!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I do believe Monogamy is unrealistic in this day and time however; his views are very childlike.

His wife is getting what she deserves she was the nanny and she took another woman's husband.

    ReplyDelete
  34. 1) Harry is just quoting from an article about how you "know" if the girl you're talking to is a slut. Tattoos are #1 on the list, so everybody just get off his back.

    2) Anyone who lacks the emotional and sexual maturity to be monogamous, especially at EH's age, is a tool. Just a fact.

      @cee Kay

FORTUNATELY u don't get to set the rules for the masses. I am no fan of EH, I don't like him for that screwing the nanny situation whilst with Uma, u don't like him for this. We agree that he is a tool.

  35. I don't know why he keeps getting married, but aside from that he makes sense. Attempts to force monogamy on a species which isn't naturally monogamous cause a shitload of problems. But obviously it's a touchy subject and people tend to react aggressively.
