Blind Item #3
This former B list reality star and now a C list celebrity was at a NOH8 event recently and said she was all for gay rights but it wasn't that long ago she contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight against gay marriage and said it was a sin. I guess she follows the cameras. For the record she is still completely homophobic.
Adrienne Maloof
ReplyDeleteWas at NOH8 5-year anniversary party, has a crap ton of money to spend, former housewife.
Delete@Kristin Yep
DeleteAdrienne Maloof is homophobic? Isn't her bff/personal chef Bernie Guzman gay?
ReplyDeleteYes, because being against gay marriage makes you homophobic!1`1!!@!!@!!
ReplyDeleteYes Jay, it does indeed make you a bigot.
ReplyDelete@Basil.. I disagree with that. Some people disapprove of gay marriage for religious reasons but that doesn't mean they are bigots.
ReplyDeleteHere we go....
ReplyDeleteI am staying outta this one haha
ReplyDeleteI'm grabbing the popcorn.
DeleteHang on folks, off to get my box wine and Cheez-Its...
ReplyDelete+1. This out to get good.
DeleteI Hate autofill!!!!!!!!
DeleteOught! Ought! Ought!!!!!!
Hey did you all see @VIP's new avatar boobs? They're magnificent!!!!
ReplyDelete@Basil... I have a friend who is gay who is against gay marriage. He is Catholic and a Republican so I guess that's why. Fortunately, even though his parents had a hard time learning about his sexuality because of their religious beliefs, they have completely supported him since.
ReplyDeleteStephie, but doesn't that mean some part of him doesn't feel right about being gay? Curious.
ReplyDeletei'm sure many in Hollywood care could care less about the cause as long as their picture is taken and their name is spelled right
ReplyDeleteBut I think the gay mafia is strong and will weed them out in due time
lol I <3 AnotherGrayHare.. you crack me up
ReplyDelete@msgirl... If I didn't know him, I would think the same thing. I've known him his entire life (he's 28 now) and he is actually one of the happiest, most well-adjusted people I know so I don't believe that's true.
ReplyDeleteIs it internet sweeps week? Fugazi Enty is trying to hit all the high points w/ Zimmerman, race baiting and gay marriage.
ReplyDeleteGay marriage is a civil issue, not a religious one.
ReplyDeleteyes, it's bigotry if you want to deny others a right that you yourself enjoy simply because you don't like something about them.
ReplyDeleteMsWool you're a smart cookie. Don't worry about the rest of these simpletons. You're right, they're wrong :)
ReplyDeleteIf you are against same sex marriage then you are a bigot. It's just like if you are against mixed marriages because you think people should marry their own then you are a racist.
ReplyDeleteblah blah blah here we go again good lord I cant wait for the first asshole who writes ITS ADAM AND EVE NOT ADAM AND STEVE
ReplyDeletecome on, theres gota be one of you heteroFreaks that will throw us a bone w that gem...
Stephie - glad to hear it!
ReplyDeleteTo be a devil's advocate, though not in this case it seems you can be against the concept of gay marriage and not be homophobic. Some gays see marriage as a hetero Christian thing, at least it is in North American and this is the same religion that calls them evil and deviant, but they also see it as unnecessary. I am sure they are likely in the minority but that viewpoint is out there. They don't see why gay couples want to emulate heterosexual couples. Look how well it isn't working for them.
ReplyDeleteHow can a state that legitimizes gay marriage then keep arresting Mormons for polygamy? What is stopping Muslims or some more freaky dudes with cults insisting on more than one wife and the younger the better types from pushing that door even wider.
You opened the door, here come the flood.
Now if you are all for polygamy, fine but if you aren't, well it's going to be interesting in the next few years as North America becomes less white and less Christian. Just stating a fact.
Though the issue is not so much the ritual of marriage but the same sex rights. One could have granted those rights without needing marriage but by extending the definition of family, I see the next push is going to come from the polygamists. And I don't see how they can lose. Same argument. What is the definition of family anymore?
That doesn't even make sense. Marriage isn't a "Christian" thing. Jews marry, Muslims marry, Buddhists marry...
DeleteGoing back to the "words matter" pool, and have got to call a flag on the play. There's a definite difference between "bigotry" and "racism," and cannot be used interchangeably.
ReplyDeleteRacism is the belief that one race is superior to another, inherently, and therefore others have the right to dominate them. Prejudice is a pre-judging of a situation or person based upon less than all the facts. Prejudice is a survival mechanism, it was developed to keep us safe.
bigotry is the strong partiality to one's own group, race, religion, politics, and intolerant of those who differ. This is the word that should be used most of the time instead of the word "racist."
The biggest difference is racism discriminates on the basis of race, a bigot discriminates on his own personal opinion, which can include any race, gender, religion, beliefs. Skinheads are racist, as are New Black Panthers. Whoever this is in the blind is a bigot. Most likely Maloof.
Rosie gets my fondest: "tehehehe"
ReplyDelete:^)
How do you "fight against" gay marriage? Isn't the most anybody can do is just whine online about how it "isn't natural" or "a sin" or some other bullshit like that? Oh, there's always the "God says it's a sin" argument which always makes me laugh. God did NOT say that homosexuality was a sin. Leviticus did. Leviticus was a Middle Eastern tribal Lord who also claimed that it was okay to rape the womanfolk of enemy tribes so long as you shaved their heads first, how selling tainted meat to people of other races was fine, and how getting a tattoo was taboo enough to get you stoned to death. Doesn't Bieber have tattoos all over himself now? Well, I guess that's bad news for him.
ReplyDeleteHomophobia is basically the irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination of, homosexuals. You can be prejudiced against homosexuals, because you may not understand their lives, actions. You can be bigoted against homosexuals, personally unwilling to accept them. Neither one means you are truly afraid of, or fearful they will force you to accept their sexuality. That said, a person who is prejudiced or biased may be so due to inadequate knowledge, interaction, religious ideology, moral belief system. This still does not add up to someone wanting to dehumanize, deny humanity, personhood, or dignity against a large group of people.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that's my problem when folks get into these type of discussions passionately, the wrong terms are thrown around, words that aren't adequate to describe a person or situation. I am anti homophobia and anti racism. As so we all should be. Its much harder to change others personals prejudices and biases.
ReplyDeleteI am against religion being involved in marriage. Marriage is an instrument of the state. If it weren't, Polygamy would be legal, since it is Biblical.
ReplyDeleteThe whole point is denying rights to people who deserve them and this hypocrite using a photo op to further themselves when indeed they don't believe in what the cause is.
ReplyDeleteJason - you "fight against gay marriage" buy raising millions of dollars to get discriminatory ballot measures passed.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why this issue terrifies people so much - why do they think someone else getting married affects their own marriage? It's been legal in places like Mass for a while now - doesn't really seem like it's changed much except for those who can now legally wed. Wrong side of history again, conservatives!
Was the quote "The meek shall inherit the earth and the gays damn sure better not try to get married"? When exactly did the confirmed bachelor Jesus of Nazareth address gay marriage?
ReplyDeleteBible dont matter. Religions can include or exclude whoever they want, US laws cant. Marriage is a legal contract that any 2 people of legal age should be able to enter in to.
ReplyDelete@iceberg: so are you opposed to freedom of religion?
ReplyDeleteI can sorta-kinda understand a person that is just icked out by the idea of two dudes or two chicks getting it on. If something is icky to you, not much you can do about it.
ReplyDeleteBUT---- when you work to discriminate or enact laws that criminalize or harm people because they fall into your "icky" category, that's a big problem.
That was my argument during the boycott of Chick-Fil-A: The real problem wasn't that the owner had less than favorable opinions about gay people (although that does suck.) It was that he gave money to groups that work to enact laws that allow people to fire or evict a person, just because they're gay.
Count, people are perfectly free to be bigots, it's just annoying when they try to pretend they aren't. And we generally aren't talking about freedom of religion with this issue. These people aren't saying "I don't want to get gay married," they're saying "no one should get gay married." Freedom of religion is the right to live according to your own beliefs, not to force them onto others.
ReplyDeleteI agree with that, Mooshki.
ReplyDeleteNow can you log into your Iceberg acct and give me a coocoohead answer so I get get some arguing in before bed :P
To be against gay marriage is to ignore fellow human beings. Gay people wanted the police to stop harassing them and ruining their lives as recently as the 1960s. Local government produced revenue by exploiting these "lesser people" arresting them and then promptly calling their parents, landlords, and employers to let them know that they were sodomites. Gay people lost their jobs, family and homes because there was and is still no legal protection for a person attracted to the same sex. Gays have come a long way from self-hatred and shadows to courage and visibility but we still obviously share this earth with those, for whatever reason, who can't accept them as legitimate peers. Gay marriage is sought after by gays for the same reason straight people hold onto the tradition even in the face of divorce rates. There are few more important moments in a human life than one meets their other half. It is a spiritual climax and the effects of human unions are everywhere in the legacy they leave behind long after life has ended. To desire the same sex may not be the majority or the norm and we will never get an omnipotent explanation from god above to tell us its A-Ok. But it is as real as anything else and denying gay people the right to marry is as corrupt of power as taking away a person's reproductive rights or forcing a child into adulthood before his time. It underestimates its cruelty and is very much like ignoring the human spirit of others as if only you count and matter. If an opponent of gay marriage is at peace with that, so be it. But you won't stop it from happening.
ReplyDeleteYes, Count, because everyone who agrees with me must be me. Been there, done that with the multiple identity conspiracy theories. Usually the ones accusing are the ones who have more than one account. I know it's hard for your small brain to comprehend, but I'm not the only one who thinks you're scum.
ReplyDelete@moo: I know you aint the only one thinking about my cum. Some wanna taste it, some wanna bathe in it. All y'all gotta earn it, and yer sourpuss attitude aint gonna get the job done. Didntcha mama ever tell you that you catch more jizz with sugar than shit?
ReplyDeleteWhile yer suckin down the egg nog, tryin to drink away your misery and holiday lonliness, just think to your self "I bet with a splash of bleach, this would taste just like Count Jerkula's load."
Feliz Navidad, betch.
Ah, the scintillating ambiance and witty repartee that have become the hallmark of the post-himmmm CDaN!
