Blind Items Revealed

August 19, 2009

What A-list actress, always movies, may be finding it harder these days to afford her much admired clothes and style as her career has stalled? She took not one, not two, but TEN irreplaceable 1950s vintage couture dresses from the set of her last film. The LA rental house who supplied the dresses was of course paid replacement value and damages by the embarrassed production, but next time you read about this actress on the red carpet in "an amazing vintage couture gown she chose herself", feel free to point and laugh.

Renee Zellweger

  1. I just looked up her IMDB and she has done next to nothing in the past few years. Why isn't she working?

  2. I remember as a kid always seeing Winona Ryder wear eccentric but tasteful vintage gowns to the Oscars and always looking the best. Then she got caught shoplifting and only wears boring black old lady suits and dresses...

  3. what vintage dress can she steal on the set "my own love song"? she wore some jeans and tee-shirt

    1. That movie "My One And Only" maybe? Eh, lots of them do this, sounds like she got too greedy.

  4. So let me get this straight.
An actress was supplied with not one, not two BUT TEN irreplaceable dresses?
And no one was kind of doing that "in charge of making sure the irreplaceable dresses make their way back to where they need to be, lest they be stolen" duty?

    Get it, girl

  5. @Glitter, there were rumors of some mental health issues and of course the plastic surgery. She's been seen more in the past few months than in quite a while.

LOL @ Bacon. She just walked off the set with ten gorgeous irreplaceable vintage dresses? Tucked in her purse? One at time or all at once? Did she insist on wearing them home from the set for a dinner party and "forgot" to return them? Ten times? Have a pa take them out for "dry cleaning"?

    Inquiring minds want to know!

  6. She hardly looks like Renee Z now, her doctor made her look like a totally different woman. Not sure if thats going to help or hurt her ala Jennifer Grey.

  7. the french director of My OWN LOVE SONG Olivier Dahan said Renee Z was depressive

  8. It sounds to me like she bought the dresses. And if the movie was "My One and Only," I can't say I blame her. She had some gorgeous dresses in that movie!

  9. She isn't working because she's batshit crazy and her tantrums and demands caught up with her. Call it the "Heigl Syndrome." Add in eating disorders and not being a very good actress despite awards (call it the "Hathaway Syndrome") plus the fact that she's not aging well, and you're left with box office poison.

As for the dress stealing: stars do that all the time and no one would give a rat's ass about it if she were popular and made money. But she isn't and doesn't. She's not really Bridget Jones, you know.

  11. No more Carolina Herrera gowns for RZ.

  12. Yes, why isnt she working ? Hope she isnt ill.

  13. My guess for the movie is Down with Love. Lots of vintage costume changes. I doubt she stole them though because she did interviews at the time and said that she still had the dresses and shoes.

  14. Why did the rental houjse pay for her sticky fingers. She should have been forced to return them unless she paid.

  15. I remember hearing how on that movie she supplied her own vintage dresses, guess they meant to say they were hears AFTER the fact

  16. An actress of her fame level is allowed to take whatever the fuck she wants.

  17. One of the "Down with Love" DVD featurettes is about the costumes. The clothes int hat movie were all new and custom made for each actor. Also, it was set in the 1960s--not the 1950s.

  18. And this is why I wouldn't "lend" or "rent" anything to any movie ever. Once it's gone, it's gone. It's like the whole business is a magnet for the entitled.

  19. The costume house rented their merchandise and was then paid a damage fee (high, I'm sure) and another fee (even higher) for the actual merchandise. No one lost money.
The studio could have taken return or reimbursement up with Zellweger's agent if they had wanted to pursue the matter. This is a non-issue.

  20. So if this is from 2009, and this was from her 'last movie' (at the time), it would have to be My One and Only.

I'm not sure I buy this one. Aside from the occasional vintage (like 2001's Oscars), she seems to favor wearing Caroline Herrera gowns. She doesn't seem to be well-known for sporting vintage gowns on the red carpet.

(Interestingly I have never heard RZ called batshit crazy or demanding anywhere but in the comments of this blog.)

  21. I think Renee invested her money well and she doesn't have to work if she doesn't want to. She has an Oscar she can do what she wants. Also, she was all loved up with some guy for the last few years.

I wouldn't be surprised if she sold those dresses for a pretty penny.

Agree with above if your name is above the line high enough you can take what you want. Or it can be written in a contract you keep the wardrobe. Sharon Stone had it in her contract for years if she wears it she owns it.

I envy anyone that can take a few years break in life and just pursue their personal interests.

Being a paycheck person isn't fun.

  22. If they know she took them, why didn't they sue her to get the dresses back? I doubt it would end up in court, probably threatening her would be enough to make her send the stuff back.

Then again she might insist the dresses were a gift and things could get sticky. I recall Sharon Stone once refused to give back some jewellery she wore to the Oscars because she said it had been a gift, even though the jeweller said it was a loan. Can't remember how that one turned out.

  23. Aw Renee. Really? Can I believe this gossip site blind? Really? Aw Renee, please pull it together. I hate Jerry Maguire, but I have faith in you.

  24. oooh, she took some dresses! you evil cunt! So frickin what?!

  25. Like Timebomb, I read she invested very well and didn't have to work. It was around the time if her divorce and there was concern Chesney would want her money.

  26. Really? She seems to sport leggings or active wear nearly all of the time?

"oooh, she took some dresses! you evil cunt! So frickin what?!"

I think you'd be singing a different tune if you were the owner of that vintage dress business.

  28. This is from her movie My One and Only, which I thought was great. She had tons of dresses in that movie.

  29. I think this is screwed up because that was a small film with a small budget. RZ could have brought those dresses, but didn't and Wanna Ride Her is also known for doing this.

  30. Would she really have been that badly off in 2009? She was still working then.
