This former A list mostly movie actress who was once A+ list and is now probably a comfortable B for a few years more before her inevitable slide does not work much. Her sobriety is her work right now. She has good days and bad days with that and her definition of sobriety is a lot different from others especially when it comes to pills. She considers it a success when she stays off the harder stuff and the booze. She also does not consider smoking a joint violating her sobriety. It is a work in progress.
A few years ago, our actress, who is still married by the way in a marriage that just won't end went to an adoption agency. After two meetings she brought her A list actor husband with her and they filled out all the paperwork necessary to adopt a child. Background checks were performed and home visits and the couple seemed really committed to the process and having kids.
Fast forward about nine months and the wife is going through one of her party until she passes out and then sleep for a day and a half phases and the husband is out having sex with every one he can find and I mean every one. The agency calls and tells the couple they are going to be parents. The wife decides she is going to be sober from that day forward. The husband doesn't think the adoption thing is such a great idea at this point and refuses to go with the wife when she picks up the child. He says to tell every one that he is working and wished he could be there. Well, the wife shows up and looks flawless because she has been sober for four or five hours at this point and has her best movie star smile and goes through every thing and takes the baby home. The baby is just a few days old and the wife has not set up any kind of help at all. There is no crib and no formula in the house. She had to leave at one point during the hand over to go buy a car seat. Totally unprepared and when she gets home she realizes she has made a horrible mistake and hands the child off to one of her other kids and starts boozing.
The husband discovers all of this when he comes home a few hours later and takes the child and calls the agency and returns the child the next morning. Apparently the wife has never mentioned the child or what happened ever.
Sounds to me like Melanie and Antonio
ReplyDeleteWow. Just... Wow.
ReplyDeleteOr CZJ and Douglas.
ReplyDeleteDemi Moore. I think their divorce has not been finalized
ReplyDeleteTotally
DeleteDamn, that's ugly.
ReplyDeleteDiane Lane and Josh Brolin?
ReplyDeleteI second the Demi guess. Their marriage will not end.
ReplyDeleteI agree with A RESIDENT: Demi and Ashton.
ReplyDeleteAt least he had the good sense to give the baby back rather than letting his wife screw it up.
This says as much about the US adoption process as it does about this actress (Demi and Ashton imo).
ReplyDeleteIn the UK i doubt these people would have got past the first chat with Social Services. (willing to be told otherwise about the ease or otherwise of US adoption procedures).
Is Ashton A list? If so, prob them. This is incredible.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a sad and disturbing story. And yeah, Demi and Ashton.
ReplyDelete@turningviolet - Social Services is tough here when considering a couple for adoption. This is a celebrity couple, and celebrities always seem to find a way to skirt the system. I wouldn't use this to judge the entire US adoption system.
ReplyDeleteI do find it hard to believe that public figures like this were able to go through this all- actually adopt and then give back a baby without it being exposed at the time. Either this story is inaccurate or missing a lot of other facts - maybe it was a foster care situation but not a real adoption or this is just bullshit.
ReplyDeleteThat is horrifying.
ReplyDeleteIf this is Demi, it would explain why her kids took his side even more.
ReplyDeleteCZJ & Douglas have all sorts of help & employees don't they? Doubt this is about them as CZJ could have had the staff get all the necessary items ready for a new baby, not had to go rush out & get stuff herself. I think Melanie/Antonio a good guess though.
ReplyDelete:-( As someone who has been through the adoption process a couple times and knows many, maaaany families formed by adoption (or almost formed in some cases), I hate to say it but I can see this happening. Many people make their paychecks through adoption and money can get you a long way in the adoption world. Some families seem great pre-adoption, and then are awful post adoption, not bonding, parents not really together, child more like an accessory. Some people go around the normal rules and still come out the other side with a child. Sometimes money is the big factor, sometimes it's connections, sometimes it's perseverance, whatever. And the situations I've seen weren't with celebs, just normal people, both with international and domestic adoptions. The good news is it's not the norm, though crap certainly happens often enough. Hopefully the child went to a loving home that truly wanted him/her and was capable.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but I am in an MV mood right now and here is my latest guess.

ReplyDeleteSorry this is the MV video I meant to post.

I remember there was talk about Demi trying to get preggers because Aston wanted a baby. This was years ago.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember if this was in the rags or something like People magazine. And then there was rumblings about how they wanted to adopt. Or he said he wouldn't mind adopting.
*how I could remember this and not remember something like algbra?! I dunno*
I hate to say this but, as more time goes on, I really think Ashton looks better and more decent out of these two.
I could see this as demi as well. but wow is right!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 adopted children. Regardless of this particular situation or any other anomalies out there, the chances that a family who goes through the entire adoption process, which includes countless interviews, classes, background checks, home studies, etc...the chances for an adopted child being raised in a loving home are FAR GREATER than those raised by their natural families. It's easy to get pregnant and have a baby-no forms to fill out, no classes to take-just look at some great natural parents we have out there, such as many of the Teen Moms and Tan Moms out there. The strange thing is that no matter your wealth and prestige, you don't just show up one day and apply for adoption and then voila, you are a parent. Sure, wealth certainly has its advantages, but I managed to get all 3 of my kids through Catholic Charities and my fees were pro-rated. My first 2 were infants and my 3rd came to us through foster care-I paid nothing for that process. But what I have gained from the 3 of them is priceless.
ReplyDeleteDon't Rain: In 2012, Enty gave the clue that MV's first and last name combined equaled 13 letters. So Paula Abdul doesn't fit that.
ReplyDeleteJennifer Lopez does. So does Britney Spears.
I am surprised all the scandal about the MV blind. I never found it that intriguing or out of the ordinary...
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen you in ages, Ice Angel. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteall in with demi and ashton
ReplyDeleteI can't decide if the kid was lucky to avoid a pilled up lunatic mom or if it was unlucky, because nannies would raise it in the lap of luxury.
ReplyDeleteThat kid was lucky that it was taken back - def sounds like Demi and Asston - they have the marriage that won't end and her girls would have been old enough that she could have "handed the baby off to one of her other kids" - she's a hot mess and has been for a while. Demi - fix yo shit!
ReplyDeleteFirst I thought Demi, then Angie because of the dude leaving (Billy Bob left after she adopted her first) but then it mentioned more kids, so going with Demi. The rating with Jolie would also be off.
ReplyDeleteI actually kinda like VIP's guess. It would have to be a couple who has children that are a little older, if she's handing the new baby off to one of her kids.
ReplyDeleteThey also have a marriage that just won't end. It's kinda annoying.
No number of nannies or amount of luxury can replace a loving parent for a child, Count.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm on board with VIP's guess too. I thought of Melanie immediately when I started reading.
ReplyDeleteMV. 13 letters is Louise Ciccone. Madonna
ReplyDeleteThat is just so very sad
ReplyDeleteI remember the rumors of Demi trying to have a boy with Ashton. Mel and Antonio have a child together so I don't think it's them.
ReplyDeleteturningvioletviolet, you can't be serious. Do you know how long it takes most couples to become adoptive parents here? And do you really think it would be any different if the Royal Family wanted to adopt in the UK?
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at those who say we're arrogant when nearly any insult against the US is followed by how great their own country is. lol
I'm on board the Demi/Asston bus.
ReplyDeleteWith that said....I hope the child is ok. What. A. Mess.
There would be no reason for Antonio and Melanie to adopt a child. They have one child together who has 2 half siblings.
ReplyDeleteDemi was never unable to have a child with Ashton because of her age, so it's understandable that in a last ditch effort to keep him at home she tried to adopt.
Demi probably starved her ovaries into stones.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing an interview with Melanie where she said she was very much wanting to have another kid with Antonio, but that she just wasn't able to get pregnant again.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she just didn't want to jinx the adoption by going out and buying a bunch of baby stuff early. I don't actually believe this is the case with this woman, but it's plausible.
When I went into the hospital to have my 3rd, we did not have the crib set up yet. We had bought a new one, we just hadn't put it together yet.
I hope this blind is fake.
ReplyDeleteHi Ice Angel. How have you been? I am happy for you with your 3 kids.
@Prada: Thanks for the Paula Abdul memories. I went through all my favorites on You Tube!
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought of Zeta Jones, but I like the Demi guess as well. It's unfortunate that we can come up with more than possibility.
