Today's Blind Items- Creepy

This actor is A list. I don't know how many people  have earned permanent A list but he has to be there. Television movies and theatre and he has been a star in all of them. He has been working non-stop for almost 40 years and has gone from one hit television show to the next with some truly memorable film roles thrown in the mix.

He has been married forever to an actress. They have gone through lots of ups and downs and over the past few years it seems as if there have been more downs than ups and part of the problem is our actor's heavy drinking but also part of the problem is one of his assistants. Lets not kid ourselves here. Our actor isn't that great looking but for the past few decades has rotated through many assistants who all end up sleeping with him. If they don't he just fires them. If they do have sex with him they usually stay about a year before they just can't handle his cigarette boozy breath over their naked bodes any longer and take the generous pay and find something a little more agreeable.

His wife knows all of this and put up with it and everything was great until an assistant came along a couple of years ago who seemed to be thrilled to have sex with our actor and never could get enough of him. Of course our actor loved this and started hanging out with his assistant more who also loved to party with the actor and loved his friends and didn't mind if some of his more lecherous friends kissed her or groped her when they were out drinking. She of course became a favorite and our actor started talking about divorcing his wife and marrying his assistant.

The actor moved in with the assistant and pushed his wife and kids to the side. It really looked like it was going to happen until his family intervened and pleaded with him to stay as a family and also convinced him his career would fall apart if he dumped his wife after so long. He listened and started cutting back with this assistant who then started seeing the actor's best friend who also happens to be an actor.

    1. That's who first came to mind. He was all about the divorce and then out of no where it was halted.

I'm all for get your freak on but the line about "how she couldn't get enough of him" made me giggle. I can't imagine anyone saying, "damn! I can't get enough of your dick, Danny DeVito!" But then again, different strokes for different folks I suppose.

    2. @CridChild So, Jack Nicholson for the bestie?

Best laugh I've had in a while, and I seriously needed it too after a horrible weekend. :-)

  2. William H. Macy? :(

  3. I like the DeVito guess.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Steve Buscemi? I hope not!!

I can't imagine Kevin Kline having boozy old breath. :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. The first person who popped in my mind is Tom Hanks. Has been in all three mediums. People probably would be disappointed if he left Rita.

But he hasn't hopped from tv show to tv show unless you count producing.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hit TV roles. So forget Buscemi, Kline, etc. Macy has had, what, one hit TV role? Forget him, too. Devito broke up with Rhea, so he's out as well.

This is a guy in his 50's at least, assuming he started as a kid (almost 40 years working) that's now permanent A-list. He's done theater, movies, AND tv.

This should be a really, really short list.

    1. @poor Justin - I believe divito and rhea reconciled didn't they? If they did then fits well.

    2. Rhea and Danny reconciled. Sounds like them.

  7. Christopher Walken?

  8. Tom Selleck? Oh wait, he's good looking?

    Shatter? Too many wives.

    Hmmm.

    1. Lil miss, I think Tom Selleck is handsome! I'd do it but his theater experience is a two month run in A Thousand Clowns, so Not a hit there...

  9. Like the divito guess also but other than Taxi what tv series has he been on? Is Always Sunny in Phil a hit?

    ReplyDelete

    1. He's an Executive Producer and it's been on for 8 seasons, a big hit for FX and a huge cult following. He's a producer of a lot of projects.

  10. Problem with DeVito is the line about ditching the kids. His kids range in age from 26-30. I think they'll be okay if their parents divorce.

William H. Macy was on E.R. and is currently on Shameless, but I agree that it doesn't fit well for "one hit show to the next." I hope it isn't him anyway!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Justin - Buscemi is the star of the acclaimed Boardwalk Empire.

But I do think Danny works because of the divorce that never came to be.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hanks only has Bosom Buddies for TV

    Robin Williams doesn't fit either.

When was Danny D ever in the theatre?

    I'm stumped

    1. Senor Salty, he has a twelve week run listed and the boozy breath fits.,.might be him.

  13. John Goodman? Stage screen and film star been acting since 1975 not good looking married for 24 years. Only has one kid though.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Kevin and William seem like more film than TV. This actor seems like he's done more TV. "Some" memorable film roles but the actor goes from one hit show to the next. That implies more TV to me, with a bit of theater.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hope this isn't Kevin Bacon

    ReplyDelete
  16. John Lithgwow, Jeffrey Tambor?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hmm yeah I forgot about the line "one hit show to another". That does strike out Danny, and also, phew Buscemi!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Always Sunny is the longest-running cable TV comedy, with this being the 8th or ninth season. Charlie Day is taking off recently, the other actors have massive recognition for people like 15-25, and the show sells a lot of merchandise. It could probably be turned into a movie at the end. It's definitely a hit cable show.

  20. Yeah I was thinking out loud, Steampunk. I knew in my heart he was too hot.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Danny devito seems to fit best..

    ReplyDelete
  22. Bryan Cranston, as much as I hate to say and he is married to actress robin deardon.

    1. Who are they?....

I'd say Michael J Fox but he's really not a bad looking guy. Second guess John Goodman but he doesn't fit well either.

  23. William H. Macy was on several show, including Kate and Ali, ER, Sportsnite and Shameless. Plenty of TV movies and miniseries. Plus memorable movie roles and theatre.

  27. Michael J Fox should work for this...

  28. Long term actor/actress marriages with tv and movie:

    Tom hanks/Rita wilson
    Kevin bacon/kyra sedgewick
    Michael j fox/tracy pollen
    Danny devito/rhea perlman
    John travolta/kelly Preston
    Warren Beatty/Annette Benning
    Will smith/jade pinkett smith

I personally am thinking ( but don't want to) michael j fox, he would need to be close to his assistants, and he was always up front about his drinking, etc.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I doubt if Michael J Fox is a smoker and he is not bad looking.

      Delete
    2. Yeah but MJF doesn't really qualify as "not a great looking guy". He was quite a heartthrob in his prime. That's the only thing holding me back from this guess.

      This one is hard!

Devito's kids are 26, 28 and 30. Otherwise he fits well and explains their split last year.

      Delete
    3. @ finine, enty said " leave his wife" which says to me that the kids aren't in the picture, as in living at home. He still fits.

      Delete
  29. @Steampunk LOL'ing at "bumping with a nude penguin"!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm on the Tom Hanks train as well. He may have only starred in Busom Buddies, but he has produced a lot on HBO. Band of Brothers, Big Love, The Pacific.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Blind says he left wife and moved in with assistant. If this was Hanks we would have heard about it. Hanks is A+.

      Delete
  31. I'm thinking William H. Macy too. Plus their kids are young enough aren't they? One is 13 and the other is 10 or so. PLUS he and Felicity lived together 20 years before they married so they've been together a long time.
Now is a star in all the roles? Not quite but we know who he is.

    ReplyDelete
  32. MJF is good-looking, although he did used to smoke and drink. Just don't think it's him.

    I wouldn't call Tom Hanks bad-looking, either.

    We gotta think homely-er, methinks.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is Devito permanent A-list?? Hardly.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Topper - This may not be Divito - but I disagree- he is permanent A list given his career.

      Delete
  34. Bryan Cranston only has one child and doesn't have a lot of famous film roles, thank goodness.

I guess Danny works. What a bummer. I'm rewatching Cheers and Rhea is just wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Gary Senise came to mind but I don't know if he's got kids and or been in more TV than CSI. I love him!
Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Will Smith haven't had more than one tv show.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Gotta be Danny DeVito.

    ReplyDelete
  37. my first thought was Alan Alda but hes not married to an actress

    ReplyDelete
  38. Danny DeVito has done theatre and also guest starred on a lot of hit shows.

    ReplyDelete
  39. DeVito also does theatre. Apparently one of the reasons for the breakup with Rhea was his behavior while doing the Sunshine Boys in London's West End.

    ReplyDelete
  40. If it is Devito, then good for him for listening and cutting out the crap. I'm partial to Rhea, my parents are good friends with hers.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'd hate for this to be it but something in me says Ron Howard. He's married to an actress. He's had multiple hits in both tv & movies. The blind didn't specifically say he was acting in them. He has kids with his wife. The blind didn't say they were living with him. I do believe he's done theatre in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  42. First thought was James Cromwell but he's no longer married to Julie Cobb. Christopher Guest hasn't done much TV and Mike Farrell hasn't done much film and he's still quite good looking for age. DeVito sounds about right.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wait, what about James Spader?
Lots of good movie roles, then Boston Legal, The Office, Blacklist. Is he married?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Okay, nobody throw anything, but what about Dick Van Dyke? *ducks*

I love him too, but there have been multiple mentions of his heavy drinking and he has been in hit after hit TV show. The only thing is that he is really classically good looking, although he never played off them, was always the funny guy.

I don't WANT it to be him, but maybe possible?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @talkstoomuch, dick van dyke is a great guess! Except he hasn't been married to an actress forever. Otherwise, very plausible.

      Delete
  45. The 'MJF' suggestions are just too funny. The blind says he fucks all his assistants. NO WAY would Tracey Pollan (sp?) put up with his cheating AND him being sick. Besides, he's spent the better part of the past, what, 10 years, off the grid trying to get a handle on his condition?

That being said, I don't think this would really hurt Danny DeVito's career. Tom Hanks and Ron Howard, absolutely, however.

  47. Mandy Patinkin. Wife is an award winning actress. He is no longer good looking (but man, back in the day?)

    movies, TV and stage.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oooh Vera, I just looked up Mandy Patinkin, and imbd says he is friends with Kelsey Grammar since they were at Julliard.

    ReplyDelete
  49. James Spader is a good guess because he's been in all three formats and isn't so cute as he was in the John Hughes days. However, he divorced his long term wife and is about to remarry, according to wiki. Unless his "actress" fiance was his assistant.

This sounds like Fox. Did he do any thater?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Spader doesn't fit. Too good looking.

    ReplyDelete
  51. No, no, Ron Howard is not married to an actress.

"On June 7, 1975, Howard wed his high-school sweetheart, Cheryl Alley, a writer with a degree in geriatric psychology."

    ReplyDelete
  52. Why does the headline say "creepy" though? A dude wanted to leave his wife and was talked out of it. That's kind of run of the mill. The fact that mistress is dating his friend? Also not uncommon in Hollywood.

Is the word creepy some sort of hint?

    ReplyDelete
  53. It. Ain't. MJF!

Silly Girl is right...no way in hell Tracy Pollan would put up with this. I mean, everyone's heard about what happened when they first started working together on "FT" and they weren't even dating yet, right? The "Whoa, somebody had scampi for lunch" story? That woman holds her own.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think I'm with the Devito guess. He stayed with Rhea after an announced split and has had alcohol issues. He's not traditionally attractive. He's been in all three formats... tv, movie and broadway. The only thing that might not fit is that he's more movie with a couple of tv hits, rather than the other way around.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Wouldn't be surprised if this is Devito and the best friend Michael Douglas.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Kelsey Grammer? Unless the last part isn't true for him

  58. Patinkin is a good guess. Inigo Montoya is a very memorable role

    ReplyDelete
  59. @ AKM Check out her IMDB page. She has a ton of credits as an actress.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Eh, I did check it out. I wouldn't call it "tons." Sixteen, in fact, IIRC, and most of them in Ron's movies' crowd scenes. I don't consider her an ACTRESS-actress, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I thought Mandy too, criminal minds and homeland though his kids are older

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ewwwww....who would want to sleep with Danny Devito on purpose? He's so gross...although, love him and Rhea together. It's a shame its all a farce after so many years.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ted Danson? Not sure if he's done theater though.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Good Lord. Geriatric Psychology must be the most depressing thing ever to study.

    ReplyDelete
  65. What about Dan Akroyd?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think tom hanks and steve buscemy can be considered sexy without it being creepy... Steve is hot in boardwalk

    ReplyDelete
  67. I immediately thought of Tom Hanks because he was selling property with Rita Wilson and has done all three mediums well.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Enty revealed a blind about Kevin Bacon about 2 years ago that was essentially predicting a divorce due to drinking.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Sidney Poitier perhaps? although he is handsome.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Devito and Perlman have to be one of the most unattractive celebrity couples out there.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm going along with the Danny Devito guesses. Some may disagree that he has had an A-list acting career so just look at his producing credits. With his company Jersey Films, Devito has either produced or executive produced Garden State, Along Came Polly, Reno 911, Erin Brockovich, Out of Sight, Get Shorty, Pulp Fiction, Reality Bites, and a bunch of others. Those assistants probably weren't sleeping with "Danny Devito, the actor," but rather "Danny Devito, the producer."

    ReplyDelete
  72. Devito and Douglas have been besties since the 1960s when they were first in NYC as roommates.

    ReplyDelete
  73. If it is Danny DeVito, I'd think the "CREEPY" part would be the fact that this assistant was thrilled to be sleeping with him.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I immediately thought Kevin Bacon. They were rumoured to be having trouble a while back, and he's also rumoured pretty famous for a bit of a drinking thing.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Plus Kevin Bacon is 55, left home at 17 to go to New York to do theatre. That's almost 40 years, as the blind says.

    ReplyDelete
