Third X-Files Movie

That collective moaning you hard all weekend was not Canada all settling in on the couch after gorging themselves on turkey during Thanksgiving. Nope. It was X Files fans who have been flooded with Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny news that will keep everyone happy for months. Of course they will not all truly be happy until Gillian and David end up together publicly. No more teasing. They want full out open relationship. Only then will the world make sense.

In the meantime they will have to settle for a third X-Files movie. These long gaps between movies are probably not doing the franchise much good. Yes, die hard fans of the series will go no matter what. The thing is unless they go see the movie many times it won't be enough to make the movie a huge success. You need other people to go see it and it has been a long time since the second movie and way back to get to the first movie and even further back to get to the pilot episode of the show.

The best quote from the Reddit interview the two stars gave on AMA other than the photo of the pair in bed to prove their bonafides? "I wish that the lap dances I used to do as Scully in David's trailer could have been filmed." - Gillian Anderson

Now if someone would have only asked a followup question when David referred to his kids as "our kids," when talking about Gillian. Did he confirm a favorite fan rumor? Did the words just come out wrong? Is the smoking man an e-smoker now?

  2. They should have put that horse out to pasture after the 4th season.
Kind of hard to believe they are on a third movie.

  3. I see that reader finally got you the pic.

  4. Isn't it time to move on from the X Files? I was a fan back in the 90's too but I believe it's time to put that cow out to pasture once and for all.

  5. Her shoes, though. O.o

  6. Well, the good news is that, between movies, the Alien Invasion deadline is over, any future X-Files movies will be "Monster of the Flick" stories, and not the stretch-to-the-yawning-point "Mythology."

  7. shiny_special_one, remember, she's so teeny if she wasn't wearing platforms like that, she'd come up to Duchovney's belly-button.

    1. Fair enough, I *had* forgotten how petite she is. At least the shoes aren't Lucite, I guess. ;-)

  9. @Snowy: Because he is married to Gillian.

I so believe they are together, and have been for 200 years, with a few breakups.

  10. When did they get married? Is he the father of her kids? Is he still a sex addict? Am I the only one who has never watched The X Files"? So many questions.

  11. To answer some of your questions, they ARE married, yes her kids are his and if you are dense enough not to see with your own eyes (I think it was evident this past weekend) they are madly in love.

  12. Leave this show in the '90s where it belongs! It was just terrible near the end. The second movie was a flop anyways so why they are bothering with a third is beyond me.

  13. As a former fan who has moved on,I find it hilarious how dull these anniversary panels are because so much water has passed under the bridge that even the leads don't remember anything from the series! Next....

  14. Giorgios Tsoukalos should be in the movie as the Cigarrette Smoking Man's sucessor.

  15. I don't know if they are married or not. I don't know about kids, etc. Presumably they have their reasons for being private.

But I DO know she absolutely LIGHTS UP in these pictures around him. She looks happier and more radiant today than I have ever seen her.

  17. I love her on Hannibal. I'm hoping he doesn't kill her character in the end.

  18. Based on the success of Galaxy I think this could be a great success if it's well done. Get David Lynch in there to help!

  19. I am still wondering if her oldest kid is also his. I've seen some pics of her and she really looks (EXACTLY) like her mom. Harder to see anyone else resembling her, even Duchovny or the dude who is named the father in the media.

  20. Thanks for the post, Enty. That pic from their early morning Reddit still kills me! I was hoping you'd give us a Clue or a Hint at whatever it is you know or have seen, that makes you think they are secretly an item. They sure do act and look like one, but they also know that gets them press. CAN'T YOU TELL US SOMETHING, ENTY?!

(I dont' think any of her kids are his at all, though.
David meant our kids as in his kids, and her kids separately)

  21. I'm a die hard X-files fan, but I can't believe Fox greenlit another movie. It was ten years between the first and second movies and now it will be six to eight years between the second movie and the third. That's a lot of time.

I guess David D's been reading the gossip boards and is going along with making them the new mystery.

Gillian is actually a foot shorter than David, and it was a running joke on the X-Files with the car seat being adjusted accordingly.

  22. Ah, they're just messing with us now.

  23. I just saw the interview and read the article. There is no third movie! They "want" to do a third movie, but they've been saying that for years. Fox is not going to pony up the dough for a third movie.

  24. I am a huge die hard fan but even I have to agree that a third movie seems really silly given how much time has passed. I didn't actually go to see the second movie in theatres and I probably won't see this one unless it's a really interesting monster of the week type film.

I honestly don't care if they're in love with each other or not, I don't care if they get together. If they're together and desire privacy that's great, if they're just friends that's great, if they're secretly in love but aren't together that's kind of a sad situation.
