ReplyDeleteIt's sort of embarrassing, but being almost 50, have always scrutinized pix of Demi Moore. She seems to have snagged one of the most adept cosmetic surgeon/stuff injectors in the world at least a dozen years ago. --And proven how useless they are in an actor's career.
Even when she looks bad, it's because she's been starving herself, & no matter how bril the Dr, when women our age lose too much body fat, the result can be downright frightening (think the yoga has helped her look much better & natural).
But how much work does she get?
Having grown up among performers, must say that if I was an actress I'd go the practical route; keep my own face/body & seek lucrative character roles. If you love the work, far better to enjoy one's career as long as possible than linger in an ageless/jobless twilight zone.
Yet is it easy to imagine some desperate 40-something actress w poor genes taking Demi hostage (a la 'King of Comedy?') & refusing to release her until she gives up the name of her Aesthetician MD ;-) .
Despite having talent, Demi doesn't get much work now, in part due to her appearance vs age & cast director bias. It strikes me as ironic because my late mother had trouble getting roles from age 50 onward outside the legit stage: she looked too young for the "60+ range" of H'wood grandmas &c for most TV & film jobs.
It is a very, very hard career for women, & am unable to disrespect any of the ones who give way to agents' pressure, or the general need to have a certain type of figure & "look" to continue working in the business.
Dayum girl, get a blog or start freelancing ... you have a lot of interesting insight. :) Or maybe you already do that...in which case, never mind. ;)
