oh man, she was awesome!!!!!! I really enjoyed her work!! RIP, funny lady.
ReplyDeleteI remember an interview with her a few year ago where she said she had trouble finding work. Fickle Hollywood. May she rest in Peace.
ReplyDeleteShe was wonderful. G-d bless her.
ReplyDelete@ Tru Leigh
ReplyDeleteIt was worse than that. When she had breast cancer, her insurance through SAG was about to expire because she had not had any work in a stipulated time frame. Her friends banded together and put out word to everyone that Marcia need a gig asap - even it if was a one day job - to keep her insurance. She began to get more work after that. I remember Entertainment Tonight doing a story on this. I'm not sure where the Simpsons gig figures into this regarding the timeline.
In the words of Edna Krabbapple:
ReplyDeleteIt's another evening of soup for one and wine for two.
RIP you glorious dame!
Is she still married to Flanders? Dude has no luck with wives.
ReplyDeleteRIP, Marcia. I loved her in The Bob Newhart Show. Suzanne Pleshette is gone, too.
ReplyDelete70 isn't that old. This is very sad.
ReplyDeleteAgree, 70 is young these days. RIP Glad she got some help to keep her insurance when she needed it.
ReplyDeleteRIP. Didn't she have a falling out w Carol Burnett? I hope they settled it if they did.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this solves the "major character death" that is supposed to happen on The Simpsons this season.
ReplyDelete(If it happened already, my apologies. I haven't watched for the past 10 or so seasons.)
No. She wasn't the planned death on the show but I wonder how it will effect the show. I guess the same way as Phil Hartman.
DeleteRIP Carol--the second best receptionist on TV ever.
ReplyDeleteWho was the best if not the amazing Marcia/Carol?
DeleteBest - 2 guesses. Miss DiPesto on Moonlighting, or Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP
Delete@moose...+1/DiPesto
DeleteShe always made me smile.
@Audrey: Who do you think was the best?
ReplyDeleteShe appeared in the single best episode of the second best sit-com of all time, when she was Rev. Jim's blind date at Latka and Simka's shloogel on "Taxi"
ReplyDeleteSimpsons execs released that no, Crababble was not the death planned for the show and they are deeply saddened, blah blah blah
ReplyDeleteI remember her from Newhart Show, she was great. RIP lady.
She was so funny..
ReplyDeleteShe was great in Teen Witch
ReplyDeleteLoni Anderson on WKRP in Cinncinati. She rocked.
ReplyDeleteI met Marcia a couple of years ago at a non-H'wood party (pure fluke that she was there) ... she was cool and open and funny in person too. RIP.
ReplyDeletewow - what a loss - RIP.
ReplyDeleteDid not know she was 70 but that's no age at all is it.
Very sad.
Mrs Krabapple directing the school play, Bart goofing off;
ReplyDelete"Bart! Do you want to play John Wilkes Booth, or do you want to act like a maniac?"
RIP Marcia, you have made millions of people laugh, which is a wonderful gift to the world.
I loved her so much. She was amazing and hilarious and, yes, sexy on Match Game.
ReplyDeleteIf I could go back in time, I would want to be a cast member (panel member?) on Match Game.
Poor Seymour.
ReplyDeleteI remember the episode they did when Bart realized how lonely Mrs. Crabapple was and he faked a suitor by mail and used Gordie Howe's picture for the man. It was one of the most touching episodes.
I'm really sorry she's gone.
