Everyone Hates Bethenny Frankel
In their article they say Bethenny never talks to the audience and never interacts with them. She comes on set to film and then walks off. She is the same way during the rest of the day. She only does the bare minimum and does not like to speak to others or interact with any of her staff. Kind of sounds like her marriage. Wait, there I go piling on. The last thing I want to be doing is talking about a successful talk show for her so I will back off for now. Oh, but her daily random pap shots have to go. She makes it so obvious. "Wait until I pick up my daughter from school and then snap me."
So she's not a social butterfly. I don't talk to my colleagues either unless I have to.

DeleteChelsea Handler is the same way if you watch her gossip show on E. She signs a book and storms off. It's actually kind of funny the way she leaves Chuey there to shake everyone's hand, and he seems to love it.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, I thought I was the only person that noticed this. Used to absolutely love the show and never missed a night, about four or five years ago. Seems like after she signed and was locked into that massive contract a couple years back, she loathes doing the show and doesn't care what the finished product looks like, IMO...

ReplyDelete2) She doesn't interact with her audience? She interacts with them throughout her whole show! What is she supposed to do, sit in an audience chair waiting for people to file in everyday and braid everyone's hair?
No I'm never going to warm up to her ever. Not after using her husband for a TV show and a baby.

ReplyDeleteAnd as a P.S. - I've been to The View several times and they NEVER interact with the audience. Neither before or after.
ReplyDeleteI went to The View twice and Meredith Viera was awesome with the crowd. She posed for pictures during commercials. Joy didn't engage at all. Star Jones left her note cards near my seat so I took them! Every, single thing they talked about was on those cards. Nothing had been improvised. Kelly and Regis were also great with the crowd. David Letterman... not at all :(

ReplyDeleteDidn't Enty #___ just say that Ellen was about to start releasing some crap about Bethenny as means to supposedly 'distance' herself from her and her show because of her supposed antics? Even if this does supposedly backfire and ends up garnering public sympathy for Bethenny, Ellen wins. Genius.
ReplyDeleteEllen did a live feed to Bethany's show to address the distance rumors. I have been to a taping of Bethany's show and I can report this is not true at all. She talks to the audience off camera, she talked to the woman next to me for a few minutes and looked at me and said "are we boring you?" and laughed. I found her very likeable (except that voice I could not live with). I have actually worked on several talk shows. The host never usually talks to the audience out side of the camera time. They get notes when cameras are down etc. This is a non news story to make her look bad.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend met Bethany one day in manhattan and could only say nice things about her. My friend and her got into a conversation about their children and Bethany literally spent ten minutes chatting up my friend. She is not a bad person at all.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny though? It's like the producers plant someone in the audience with a book each night! It's so methodical and she just storms off like she's on her way to a bar for last call.
I watch the show a couple of times a week and most of the show is Bethenny out in the audience talking to them.
ReplyDeleteI read this same comment about Wendy Williams last week. I know these people make like they are the audience's best friend during the show, but what do people expect? It's a job---she is also running a business, she is a producer on the show, and in the middle of a messy divorce. I'm not sure what else people want her to be doing.
She lives in NYC and has been papped forever--when she was a Real Housewife, when she was married, and now. She just said on the show today that all she does right now is her show, and spend time with her kid--so if they go out, they get a picture taken.
I'm not a huge fan, she can be really annoying but I don't see anything wrong with how she's behaving.
A friend of mine, who won the lottery to see the Big O, told me she ran a tight time line because she taped about three shows a day. It was like a factory and she was preparing for the next show, but my friend said O is much warmer on camera than in person.
