Chris Brown Arrested For Felony Assault
A few hours ago in Washington DC, Chris Brown and his bodyguard were arrested for felony assault charges after Chris punched a man in the face. The two didn't know each other and the man did nothing. Chris just hit the guy. Maybe the guy called Chris out for being a woman beater or maybe Chris just did it because he is an a-hole. In any event Chris is in jail. Because Chris cheated on his community service he is still on probation in the Rihanna beating case which means his probation could be revoked and if the judge is in a very bad mood could sentence Chris to four years in jail. It won't happen though. I doubt he will get any jail time in either case. It all adds up though and at some point if he keeps messing up and he will, he will eventually go to jail.
Lord please do something with this man. Or at least make it to where we don't get updates on his vile life.
ReplyDeleteOmg. That picture! Love love love it. Don't even need to read the words.
ReplyDeleteFlavorpill Media did a piece recently suggesting that:
ReplyDelete"The ongoing hatred of Brown seems disproportionate to the treatment of others convicted of similar crimes. This isn’t to suggest the hatred is unwarranted; it’s more a question of why it’s Brown who gets this level of hatred while others get a free pass. Why, for instance, are people still booking Surfer Blood? Why has John “Give Peace a Chance” Lennon’s history as a wife-beater failed to tarnish his messianic reputation? Why does no one ever mention anymore that Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age held his girlfriend prisoner, necessitating the intervention of a whole fucking SWAT team?
Clearly, there are many answers to these questions. Rihanna was more famous than the victims of any of the abusers above. There was all-too-clear photographic evidence of Brown’s actions. And Brown’s generally seen as being unrepentant, because he hasn’t traveled the well-trod road of penance and redemption that America demands of its errant celebrities.
Is that all? In a piece for Noisey earlier this year, the ever-excellent Ayesha A. Siddiqi made a compelling argument that there’s also an element of racism at play in Brown’s treatment, comparing and contrasting his treatment with that Charlie Sheen, who was arrested in December 2009 for holding a knife to his wife’s throat, the latest in a long line of domestic abuse complaints against him. Does Sheen get the same opprobrium as Brown? Hell, no. It’s all “tiger blood” and “winning” and nudge-nudge-wink-wink-isn’t-Charlie-kerrazee?"
You can read the full piece here>.
Nutty - it's not the crimes. People hate him because how he acts. No remorse and he's a cocky bastard. That's my take, anyway.
DeleteVery interesting piece Nutty. Thanks for the share.
DeleteDidn't someone post something here around the last time Chris and Rhianna got together? Seems like it was a woman of colour who wrote very well and was also discussing the racism around Chris. Wonder if it was Ayesha. Thanks for the submission Nutty.
Delete@Nutty: It s the pictures of Rihanna and the media frenzy about these two.
DeletePictures impact our brains more than words and the pictures were graphic.
And every time he or her gets mentioned, he s THAT guy. Considering the amount of visibility this scum is getting ... it s getting neatly wired into our brains.
I really appreciate reading that piece. I cannot stand CB because he takes the victim position each time, even trying to get out of his community service. His attitudes towards women is also disgusting to me. Sheen is awful too, but I do feel like he apologizes instead of blaming others. But this article did make some good points. To me it's not that we are too hard on CB but should be more concerned with not supporting any woman beaters. Especially those who show no remorse
DeleteJimi Hendrix was also a woman beater. You dont often hear about that either, so so much for the racism theory. Chrissy is just an unrepentant ashhole. And btw, no one forgave Ike Turner either.
DeleteAs an ex abused wife, I can tell ya, it was a combo of things-his age/her age, their until then clean image, his seemingly lack of remorse and continued violence, the intro of the internet to disseminate it all, the picture, same as during the OJ trials, really dies say a thousand words to everyone, (not me, I have stacks if those, they mean or tell nothing really), and yes, there is an element of racism involved. This is coming from someone who hates breaking out that kind of stuff, but there was a slight undertone of it all, and CB has done nothing but perpetuate it, unfortunately.
DeleteGod he's hard on the eyes. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteProbation violation and were a better, I be putting down cash that he'll serve no time. He's a Lohan.
ReplyDeleteThat's news to me that john Lennon was a wifebeater
ReplyDeleteHe thinks he's tough. That's going to end him, sooner or later.
ReplyDeleteAt some point, he's going to get in the face of someone who's idea of tough isn't beating up on a hundred-pound girl, and do it when he's not with his bodyguard.
That guy, unlike Pussyboy Brown, will serve time, but all we'll have to hear about Pussyboy himself will be memorials.
I'm okay with that.
Nutty my dad brings up John Lennon constantly for that exact same reason. He hates how someone who was such an asshole is now regarded as the US version of Gandhi and stands for peace and love. We see this all over Hollywood though, it's like junior high. The dickier the kid, the more popular they are.
ReplyDeleteAnd he's just going to WHIIIIIIINE about how its not his fault and everything is unfair.
ReplyDeleteHell everyone I know who hates Chris Brown isn't part of the St. John bandwagon either, mind you that has a lot to do with the shitty treatment of Julian. In many cases I think the issue is that people never heard about the criminal cases mainly due to the relative fame of all those involved, the more you know, the more famous people to despise.

ReplyDelete9:05 PT -- TMZ just spoke with the victim. He tells us Chris broke his nose and he may need surgery as early as tomorrow morning. The victim confirmed he and a friend photo bombed the two women who were taking a picture with Brown when Chris went nuts. The victim says he's not a Chris Brown fan ... and was just hanging with a couple girls at the hotel when he saw the singer outside. The victim says he doesn't understand why Brown would be "so homophobic" to hurl such a slur. And get this ... the victim says he would have accepted an apology at the scene, but now he will absolutely press charges -- and he already has a lawyer.
@JSierra and @Don'tRainOnMyPrada, John Lennon was very open about his problems with violence, having nearly beaten a man to death during the early Beatle days. He once said he had hit every girlfriend he had ever had, including both wives. Unlike Chris Brown, however, John Lennon understood that what he was doing was wrong - but it didn't make him stop. Sean Lennon say he has permanent hearing damage from when his father screamed directly into Sean's ear. Sean was about five years old at the time; the incident took place shortly before John Lennon's death.
ReplyDeleteWow I knew John was not the saint he was so often made out to be but now he seems like a total bastard.
ReplyDeleteI think that a year or two in prison would do him good. I know I would be happy.
ReplyDeleteHow unsurprising.
ReplyDelete@Nutty Flavor: interesting article
ReplyDeletemy problem with Chris Brown is never he was unrepentant and the raped 8 years old Chris Brown the victim isn't the All-grown Chris Brown. To be victim of abuse is not an excuse
in France,we have Bertrant Cantat a french singer who killed his girlfriend by hitting her.He always takes responsability on what he did
Many human beings have many sides clearly. Sean Penn is another example. He treats women badly and has extreme anger management issues, has served time in jail for his issues, yet you can't deny what he did and and is still doing in Haiti.
ReplyDeleteI think you find even those regarded as saints have something dark to hide. Sometimes the drive to do good works is a need to atone for one's sins and faults.
There are people who can find fault with Mother Theresa though if memory serves it is more an issue with the Catholic Church and birth control than Mother Theresa per se.
I do agree about being very puzzled as to why Charlie Sheen gets a pass on his behaviour. Maybe because he belongs to a Hollywood establishment that has the same poor view of women, still, in 2013. To an extent Brown has been given a pass because he is still making records and lots of people are buying them.
Do you separate the art from the artist?
PS And sometimes the drive to do good works is just about ego and distracting from those other issues. LOL.
ReplyDeleteCharlie Sheen got a pass because the women involved never pressed charges or publicized the attacks. I have to think that John Lennon got such a huge pass because it was a very different time then. Men got away with a whole lot more abuse back then.
ReplyDeleteFor me, the saturation of celebrity gossip is mostly the culprit in how we perceive Mr. Brown. Back when John Lennon was alive, there wasn't 24 hour a day coverage of his bad behavior, and the media was a little more selective about what it put out there. The market for an interview like the one he makes his claims of domestic abuse would have been a lot smaller...it was before we had non stop news, talk shows, and entertainment specific shows. It could be buried in a publication that few people would buy. Not that any of this gives him a pass. I prefer to focus on his professional career rather than his personal life, as he is no longer here to defend himself or to clarify his word. I also think that is why Sean Connery got a pass and went on to be a beloved actor so many people look up to. I don't ever recall him addressing his past since that interview.
ReplyDeleteExcellent point about the 24/7 news cycle. Kudos. :-)
Deletea lot of younger people cant imagine a world where celebs werent trailed constanly by paps, where CNN didnt exist, where there was no Twitter or FB and to tske a picture you had to buy a camera and then have the pix developed which could take days unless you went to Fotomat. It was an extremely different time indeed.
dude gonna wind up dead
ReplyDeleteDid not know the John Lennon stuff. I wonder if his death before the internet has contributed to a lot of people not knowing how abusive he was.
ReplyDeleteChris Brown is not particularly likeable, even before he beat up Rhianna. His arrogance after the fact has sparked most of the backlash against him. I doubt race has anything to do with it in this particular case.
I think the fame of the victim certainly influenced public perception of him, in part because they know who she is.
Queens of the Stoneage - I barely know who they are...
There's lots of celebrities who have murdered people, and have been violent assholes who don't get the hate that Chris Brown does. I think it is a complex mix of fame, likability, contrition after the fact, and laying low for a bit. Chris Brown never laid low and that hurt him.
Charlie Sheen... The guy is teflon.
Was watching CNN, when they did a "breaking news" item on this. Really! A "breaking news" item. It's not news, Chris Brown is a psychotic with a super short fuse.
ReplyDeleteI for one am shocked. I thought he had changed.
ReplyDeleteHA!
First it pisses me off that people like Brown and Sheen get so much attention and money in this culture. It speaks to the culture; not to them.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, people seem very willing to condemn him while giving Rihanna a pass. If women stopped tolerating this behavior, these assholes would be forced to change or to go it alone.
Finally, you can trash him all you want but the dude is hot....probably because he's damaged goods......and sadly, he knows it.
Re: Sean Penn "...yet you can't deny what he did and and is still doing in Haiti."
ReplyDeleteUm, you know his Haiti campaign is largely bullshit so people like you think he's a hero, right?
He shows up in Haiti when Anderson Cooper or Oprah want to do an interview. The rest of the time... meh, let them live in tents, he's got a party to go to.
sean-penn-is-still-lying-about-haiti
The best though was when he was publicly claiming he lived there, then 2 days later was in Ireland with Bono at a birthday party, doing blow and paying for hookers.
I can only speak for myself. I don't like what Lennon, Penn, Sheen, or Brown have done in being bullies.
ReplyDeleteI don't patronize any of them. But you can still watch their TV shows, movies, videos, etc. if you want.
What irritates me about Chris Brown is he seems totally unrepentant and I think his money and fame have kept him out of jail. Anyone else would have had to go to jail.
I'd just like him to do SOME prison time.
ReplyDeleteWell well well! Enty found oit before I did--good job!
ReplyDeleteI have my fingers crossed this mutha gets jail time this time. Love the pic btw--thats even better thab the famous Boy George garbage collector photo.
I still think Brown's homophobia and anger comes from being molested as a kid. These are 5year old tantrums he is having. Dude was probably diddled sometime between 5 and 10 and never emotionally progreesed from there.
ReplyDeleteCount, he lost his virginity when he was 8 or something. To a 15 year old. He was raped, whether he consented or not.
ReplyDeleteToday is my anniversary--34 years with the same man. How we haven't killed each other . . .
ReplyDeleteAs I have said before, it takes two. Something tells me that Rih Rih isn't entirely blameless in that incident, and I've heard that she hit him first.
One of the keys to the longevity of our marriage is that we made a pact: He will never raise a hand to me, but if I hit him first, all bets are off.
Fair is fair.
Chris hasn't exhibited any contrition.
ReplyDeleteSince the incident with Rihanna, there have been all sorts of blow-ups. Remember when he threw a chair out the window at ABC, when he was there for the morning show? Multiple dust-ups with Drake and Frank Ocean. Remember a few years ago when he ripped a cell phone out of a fan's hand in Miami? Nothing happened.
Let's throw in the pedos for goid measure too. Michael Jackson is an icon even though hevdamaged countless children. BS
ReplyDelete@JodiG You provided a a 3 year old link to a blog, not an actual news source as proof of shady goings on. HUH? That isn't proof of anything. At the very least his organization still a presence in Haiti even if he isn't.
ReplyDeleteOMG - "He's a Lohan."
ReplyDeleteThat's enough for me, that wins INTERNET COMMENT OF THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!
He is trouble looking for a place to happen.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, from here forward, I think I will append every Chris Brown post I read online with the phrase
ReplyDelete"He's a Lohan."
and Count is right, he's gonna end up dead. He's like a bigger, assier nastier Bieber.
As much as I love John Lennon, he had a very dark side also.
ReplyDelete"There’s simply no way of disputing this: the revered icon of peace and love had a serious problem with violence against women. This has been documented all the way back to his Liverpool days, and he eventually admitted it himself later in life. His first wife Cynthia and his second, Yoko Ono, were both victims of Lennon’s brutality at one point or another, and given that most men who beat their spouses or girlfriends regularly are not particularly discriminating about the object of their violence, it’s frankly impossible that they were the only ones. It seems clear in hindsight that the gentle icon the hippies worship was actually a man with very serious psychological problems who often flew into uncontrollable fits of rage which he took out on the women in his life."

ReplyDeleteAt least he's punching in his own weight class this time.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what the excuse is, you do not hit a woman ever... no excuse for that...now, if she asks, and begs and pleads, and you have a safe word...
Someone mentioned QOTSA. I personally know people Nick Oliveri has/still worked with, been friends with, and have met him many times socially. He's a dick. He takes too many drugs. He has guns. He gets nasty. At least Josh Homme has the sense to not let him back in the band.
