Tommy Morrison Has Died

Tommy Morrison, who was the protégé of Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa in the 1990 movie “Rocky V” and defeated George Foreman to capture a heavyweight boxing championship, but was banned from the ring in 1996 when he tested positive for H.I.V., died this weekend in Omaha. He was 44.

  2. Dude lied about the HIV to box in the 2000s. No sympathy for that. He put the ref and his opponent at risk. So long.

  6. He looks like Channing Tatum if Channing Tatum had shared Melanie Griffith's plastic surgeon. There's an echo of Channing in that photo much like there is still a faint echo of Melanie Griffith behind the talking mask that spoke to Letterman last week.

Wasn't he a distant relative of John Wayne?

  8. Yes he was Syko.

I always had a soft spot for him. Not the fact he hid his HVI status, but he did have talent at one point.

  9. Aids sucks. Still a stigma over a disease that could happen to anyone.

  10. For a long time he was beguiled by the HIV denialists and he ws then persuaded not to take medication for years and years, and his early death is a result of that nonsense and those purveyers of falsehood, as well as his own stupidity and thoughtlessness. It's a sad story all in all!

  11. I'm so late seeing this story, but RIP Tommy Gunn. I had a major crush on him. Guess I still do. Certain men just do it for me, and he's one. And I didn't know about the HIV. I'm totally in shock. This is sad.
