Richard Gere And His Wife Call It Quits
The NY Post has made it official. Richard Gere and his wife of a decade have split. The two have been living separate lives for awhile and I revealed at least one blind about how Richard acts at parties even when his wife was there. He ignored her and focused on women he had not had sex with yet. I guess she finally got tired of coming in second best or maybe he forgot he was married. I know he does the whole Tibet thing and that's very laudable but the thing is he is not that nice of a guy. Actually he isn't nice at all. He has that smile and the good looks but he is one cranky dude and it shows in every interaction he has with people unless you are higher up the celebrity food chain or a person he wants for sex.
...or a gerbil.
ReplyDeletemy thoughts exactly
DeleteHe looks like an old lesbian I know.
ReplyDeleteSteve Martin rocks that look waaaay better.
ReplyDeleteI rented from the Dalai Lama's brother in Bloomington Indiana. Real slum-lord, BFF of Mr. Gere here.
ReplyDeleteJigme was his everyday name. Gere used that name as a third name for his son with Kerry.
(It's Kerry, right?)

DeleteHow did that rodent in the ass rumor even get started?
ReplyDeleteI thought they wld go the distance. Wonder if Julia will try for him now that he's available?
ReplyDeleteThe daily mail story paints Carey Lowell as running around and partying while Gere wants to settle down.
ReplyDeleteUh huh.

I never understood his appeal in Nights in Rodanthe. I was like, damn, he's a cranky old man, who wants that? I guess it wasn't a stretch for him.
ReplyDeleteI've always had a rather cold, aloof, me first vibe from him.
ReplyDeleteShe should have stayed with Law and Order.
@FSP Perfect!!
ReplyDelete"his wife" has a name, she's also an actor, Carey Lowell. lol
ReplyDeleteI had no idea they were married. (Why not use her name in the story? She is more than just 'his wife'. Grar.)
ReplyDeleteIve found personally that the "Charmer" type only puts on that act until they win you over, because they know damn well their true nasty personality wont work.beware charmers!
ReplyDeleteNo great loss, she can find someone of higher quality to be with.
ReplyDeleteHe has the teeniest eyes in hollywood.
I also liked the fact that he owned a $65 million home and a luxury inn! I thought the idea behind Buddhism was to 'let go of all attachments.' Can't he let go of his attachments in a more modest living space?
ReplyDelete@PaintChips, is that Bette Davis in your avatar or Connie Bennett?
Carey was in Law and Order.
ReplyDeleteI always thought he looked like a rodent (gerbil, heh) I was thinking weasel.
No wonder he and Cindy Crawford broke up. They probably got tired of telling each other how pretty they are.
I'm not PaintChips...but that is Bette Davis. She is still my favorite actress!
ReplyDeleteHe had a fight with Sylvester Stallone while they were making The Lords of Flatbush & Stallone started the gerbil rumor.
ReplyDeleteHe was SO hot when he was young. And the gerbil story was just that, a story that went viral.
ReplyDeleteI never got his appeal. His eyes are too beady and close together.
ReplyDeleteNobody's gonna pay $65 million for his Hamptons house.
ReplyDeleteSteve Coogan does Richard Gere

I love how everyone here just knows the gerbil story isn't true. What, are you close personal friends with the gerbil?
ReplyDeleteI'd be cranky too with a gerbil up my ass
ReplyDeleteThe gerbil story makes me SO happy that I literally can't see a gerbil without thinking about Richard Gere. The one celebrity joke that will always make me laugh. And god bless Sly Stallone for thinking that up. Although...how did Sly know that was a thing?
ReplyDeleteLemmywinks!
ReplyDeleteStallone didn't make it up, he said Gere blamed him for it. That was before Lifetime Achievement Awards fiasco.
ReplyDeleteHe was so smokin' hot in American Gigilo.
ReplyDeleteDear All,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your concern for my wellbeing. After my traumatic experience in Hollywood with Mr Gere, I have recovered and relocated to London, where I am now happily living in a Shepherd's Bush.
Sincerely,
A Gerbil
remember at the academy awards he was ALL over kelly backstage
ReplyDeleteoctopus hands
Carey was the best AD on law and order
ReplyDeleteDear Gerbil,
ReplyDeleteIs this shepherds bush a plant? If not, move.
Sincerely,
a concerned Canadian.
I think he's super-hot, but mean as fuck based on stories I've read through the years about the way he treated Cindy. All that Buddhism light-and-peace is a crock.
ReplyDeleteHe was brilliantly cast for American Gigolo but to me all the great actors have very expressive eyes, the eyes are after all the windows to the soul and I find his eyes cold and unreadablem always have, that cold detachment was perfect for AG
ReplyDeleteI worked in an office where a lot of attorneys shared space and someone there represented him. Apparently Carey was not known for her fidelity either. (Closed doors don't shut out much when you are a loudmouth)
ReplyDeletenamaste, my ass.
ReplyDeleteGere has always been a jerk.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Carey also a Bond Girl? and previously married to Griffin Dunne, Dominick Dunn's son?
ReplyDeleteDebra Winger hated him with a passion in an officer and gentleman. She was blacklisted for talking about it, and for being impossible to work with herself. She continued to work but not in anything anyone's ever heard of. Yes Terms of Endearment came out a year later but it was already in the can.
ReplyDeleteLauren Hutton had nothing nice to say about Gere either.
ReplyDeleteI just have to hear the word "gerbil" and I think of Richard Gere getting his jollies by sticking a gerbil up his ass.
ReplyDeleteMy first job in 1986 this became the topic of discussion during break. That article someone linked above from 2012 of Wayne Matthews, a 35-year-old mechanic from New Mexico claiming he started the rumor is a complete lie. If he started the rumor in 1991 as he claims there's no way it would already be a topic of discussion FIVE years prior in 1986. I see from comments on that article that others heard about it prior to 1991 too. Either Sylvester Stallone paid this guy to take the blame or this guy wanted to get noticed but either way he is lying.
Lying Wayne Matthews
Snipped from article:
"According to Matthews, the origin of the gerbil rumor began back in his hometown of Albuquerque in 1991 when the teenaged Matthews told it to his best friend to see how gullible he really was. Matthews even went as far to convince his friend that the traumatic shock of the gerbil removal was what caused Gere’s hair to go prematurely gray.
Before Matthews knew it, the Richard Gere gerbil rumor spread across America and damaged the actor’s reputation forever. Matthews kept his silence and lived with his guilt for over twenty years, until he heard about Gere receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award and decided it was time to finally make amends."
@TheTruthIsOutThere - It's not a real article, it's an Onion-type satire site. Notice it also says that Cindy Crawford divorced him because she wanted a pet and couldn't trust him around animals.
DeleteWho is having custody of the gerbil??
