According to In Touch, they claim that Gwen Stefani is pregnant with her third child. The 43 year old Gwen already has a seven year old and a five year old and this one comes as a bit of a shocker. I have to tell you that I heard their marriage has been on the rocks for at least a year and that they were barely hanging on by a thread and now she is pregnant. Apparently that make up sex must have been pretty good and at just the right time or they decided a baby would save the marriage. Gwen has not confirmed it yet and she was looking really slim in a bikini (above) last week, but then again, she is a tiny person and the magazine didn't say how far along she is.
Well both she and Tony's wife are pregnant, then, so that must've put an end to any funny bizness that was going on between Gwen and Tony, for now. I really wish her baby would come out brown this time, though. ;) lol

ReplyDeleteDoesnt shock me one bit, been expecting it for two reasons: 1--theres nothing like a Band Aid baby to repair a marriage, according to standard Hollywood thinking and 2--she's gotta show off that shes still fertile at her age. And yes youre hearing bitterness in my comment: my mom and grandma both hit menopause at 43, and Im almost 40 and childless.

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that if she's pregnant it's via IVF. She had a rumored pregnancy in 2010 which ended in miscarriage, so I'm sure they're on tenterhooks right now. She has been wearing sea-bands a lot lately, so I think it's likely she is pregnant right now.

ReplyDeleteThey are wristbands that push on a pressure point in your wrist. They are supposed to help with nausea, caused from motion sickness, or pregnancy. I am 10 weeks pregnant and wear mine 24/7. They don't stop the nausea altogether, but they help manage it.

Meh. Lots of women have kids naturally after 40. Always have. In 1890 My great-great-grandmother had a healthy baby when she was 48. My own grandmother had one at 40.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if the reason the No Doubt tour was canceled early this year was because she was pregnant, then had a miscarriage...I never bought the "oh we're inspired and suddenly going to record the next record now!" excuse...if this is true I'm really glad for her...I know many friends who got pregnant naturally after 40, so that is not impossible, in spite of what the fertility industry tells you.
ReplyDeleteI used to loathe her whole Betty Boop persona, but over the years I have come to really respect how she's evolved, how she handled the guys resenting her starpower (and oh boy did they ever...), what she has built, and how she has handled her incredible fame. To put her family ahead of her career in that dirty music business is really admirable.

ReplyDeleteI'm 53. Last child is 12. Conceived naturally and a surprise :) happens everyday. Something about seeing her with her children makes me smile. If she is preggers I wish her the best.
ReplyDelete@Burnt Crepes - I hear you. I'm pushing 40 and haven't even had a partner in almost five years (or a date in...six months?). Pretty much completely wasted my fertile 30s. I've given up, but YOU just never know. :-)
ReplyDeleteIIRC, the odds of being fertile after 40 are WAY increased if the woman has already had children. For those of us who have not, I believe it's more difficult. Someone correct me if I'm wrong or let me know if I'm right.
@akm that doesn't really sound right to me. Perhaps the statistics show that because those women have already proven to be fertile, so it wouldn't be surprising if more of them are also fertile into their 40s. That said, I haven't researched it so I don't know the facts.

I read an interview where Stevie said that she finally knew it was over for good with him only after he and his wife had their first baby. I still believe they're the only ones for each other and refuse to consider that they're not. :)

ReplyDeleteThose wristbands are great! Something we learned while riding on a bumpy plane ride is you can use the corner of the seat's arm rest to hit that same pressure point. I had a set, my friend didn't, so I gave her one and made do.

ReplyDeleteYou're half-correct. There absolutely IS a fertility problem after age 40. (After age 35, even.) We're only born with so many eggs, and we lose them every month, of course, and the ones we're left with after a certain age tend to be fewer in number AND not as genetically healthy.

I can't find any articles that support my previous statement about women who have had children are the ones who have an easier time getting pregnant past that 40 window, but I'm positive that I read about it in all of the panicked research I did back when I still wanted kids. Has something to do with hormone levels, perhaps? I'll keep looking if anyone's really interested.
