"Diana" Is Awful- Naomi Watts Refusing To Do Any Press That's Not Positive

In the wake of some of the worst reviews of a movie in the past year, Naomi Watts is feeling the heat for the movie Diana which chronicles the 18 month relationship Princess Diana had with Dr. Hasnat Kahn who is portrayed by Naveen Andrews. The movie is based on a book and no one believed the book when it was written and the screenplay just makes it worse. Reporters started asking Naomi about the negative reviews and she walked off the set of a BBC interview and yelled at another reporter who asked Naomi about some of the comments Naomi made during the filming. Specifically, Naomi said that she would ask the ghost of Diana for permission to continue filming everyday and whether Naomi was doing a good job. Well, even though she said it, Naomi trashed the guy who asked her about it and now is refusing to do all of the planned press for movie.

She needs to suck it up and not be poisoned by that Sean Penn dinner or the notoriously difficult Liev Schreiber who expects you to ask only the questions he wants to answer.

  1. I thought it was a weird idea for movie about that particular time in her life. No one knows much about it and it really isnt that interesting. Watts does not look like Diana either. I dont know why she floated those odd ghost anecdotes anyway. So your movie stinks. Thats life. Suck it up.

Exactly, not the most interesting period of her life and as neither she or the Dr have talked about it then its all guess work.
I think maybe they thought people would be interested in it a secret part of her life but its also just not that interesting or the interesting bits are the bits already known.
The great bits of the British history around the monarchy always involve affairs, death and back stabbing like a soap ie Wallace Simpson, Richard iii or Henry's 6 wives. Two single people met and dated - wow

  2. She looks more like Camilla in that pic than Diana.

  3. Yes! That is a Parker-Bowles hair flip.

  4. I think it's a travesty that a movie about Diana is terrible. Everyone involved should be suspended from movie making, without pay, for at least a year.

  5. The Dollar Store wigs she's wearing wouldn't even pass a Lifetime Movie stink test. Naomi needs to develop better Oscar bait script detection skills.

  6. They should've hired an unknown who looked the part. After all, Diana was an unknown at 19. Isn't Naomi about a foot shorter than Diana was? I'm not surprised about the reception after seeing the cheesy lifetime movie style previews.

  7. Henriette, I was just about to post the same! Watts looks hideous. Well, she looks good, but compared to the radiant Diana -- the last of the silent film stars (with one look she can break your heart) -- she's meh!

  8. Team Naomi. The UK media are just sucking up to the Diana Delusionals who have elevated her to a deity. What Elvis was to white trash America after his death Diana has become to the women who breed with the chavs in Britain.

Diana was the template for the Kardashians. She choose to live her private life as publicly as possible by giving dishy interviews about the most intimate details of her life. She saw it all as a PR battle. I can't imagine a worst woman to be married to. Thank God for all involved that Duchess Katherine is the polar opposite. The only sane way to fill that role is by being the Mona Lisa in public. Intriguing but unknowable.

Kate Middleton is a lazy bore. She's never worked a day in her life and set out to marry a prince. She has no opinions, I think we've only heard her speak twice and she costs us millions. She's straight out of the dark ages and a downgrade for women everywhere.
Diana was in a PR war and up against an establishment that wanted to bad mouth and silence her. She was 19 and married to a man that cheated on her throughout and it devestated her. Yet she went out on a limb for AIDS sufferers at a time when they were looked down on, changed the monarchy and raised the international profile of land mine victims to name a few things. She wasn't perfect Snd definitely had flaws but at least she had a voice and strength.

  9. Come to think of it, how odd that there has never yet been a major movie made about Diana? The Palace must have her image on lockdown.

I would see anything with Naveen Andrews. Love love love him.

  10. What is the Sean Penn dinner? Is that a blind clue.

  11. Pretty sure any movie about Diana was going to be trashed, no one can live up to the real thing. She is still missed, hard to believe she's gone actually!

  12. +1 on my confusion about why Naomi Watts (or anyone in fact) would agree to do this movie....

  13. How Movies Get Made: Diana Edition

"Let's make a movie about Princess Diana!"

"Oh my god, yes! The world needs a warts-and-all biopic of The People's Princess. Or maybe just a glossy whitewash. But do you think now is the time? Did we miss our window back right before William got married? We should have seized on that pandemonium."

"Well, yeah, we probably missed THAT window, but c'mon, it's Princess Diana, we can't miss. I want to focus on one specific time of her life..."

"Her marriage to Charles? Her childhood? Her death? The divorce?"

"No, her relationship with Hasnat Khan."

"I thought his name was Dodi?"

"No, not that guy, the one before him."

"Prince Harry's dad? The rugby player? I thought he was some Ginger?"

"No, no, no! The brilliant heart and lung surgeon she secretly dated but who broke her heart, sending her into the arms of Dodi Al Fayed."

"Wait, is this the guy who got caught sucking on her toes on some yacht in the Mediterranean?"

    "That was Fergie."

"Well, never mind all that. It's irrelevant. It's Princess Di, anything about her will sell. Script?"

"Meh. There's a book. Just copy and paste."

    "Who do we cast?"

    "I've got Naomi Watts."

"Well, she's blonde, famous, has two kids and Liev cheats. She's perfect!"

  15. Shocking that the vipers who were directly responsible for Diana's death would be so viciously critical of a film version of her life.

  16. @NomNom, very well done. And @Rebel, Charlize would have been perfect.

  17. Naomi Watts is okay. Everyone tries to say she's a better actress than her friend, Nicole Kidman, but Kidman is ten times talented.

    Guess everyone likes an underdog.

  18. I have no desire to see this movie and what was up with Naomi talking about Diana's ghost? Weird.

  19. These are English reviewers though, who wanted to hate the project from the start. English press = notoriously vicious!
