Britney Spears Promises To Sing Live In Vegas

With her residency in Las Vegas fast approaching Britney Spears wants you to know that she is going to sing live at all of her shows. Apparently she has been taking vocal lessons everyday for several hours each day to make sure she can sing. Huh. Britney Spears the singer is actually going to sing? I think that experiment will last for all of one dress rehearsal and then it will be hello backing track. Britney is looking amazing and I'm sure despite the fact that her show is currently selling less tickets than the wonderful world of cheese exhibit that people will sell out all her shows and the shows will be over the top. Anyone who spends the money to see Britney knows she isn't going to sing. She hasn't sung live in a decade and I don't think that's going to change. Would you want to pay hundreds of dollars to listen to Britney sing live or do you want to have her sounding great?

  1. Calling Britney Spears a singer is like calling ketchup a vegetable.

  2. Somewhat off topic, what is with all these celebs and their monochromatic hair color that looks like they did it from a box in their own shower? Wouldn't her hair look much better (and not so root-y) with *highlights* and depth, rather than this peroxide mess? And she pays how many hundreds/thousands to get that done?

  3. Damn! Is it Trash 'em Tuesday?

Psst: I remember Britney being a friend of Enty.

    1. I had never seen/heard about this until someone posted this on another site yesterday. http://dlisted.com/2008/03/24/henry-rollins-knows-britneys-secret/
but then I also read that this is not uncommon for singers to mix voices. (Sorry - don't know how to do the click link).

  7. At the beginning of her career, Britney had a serviceable voice. Not great, but enough to get by. Her sound became more manufactured as her popularity grew. If she sings live on 3-4 songs, she should be fine. No one goes to a Britney concert for the singing, anyway.

  8. I'm sure that doing the show night after night, she'll be able to get the work done and actually sing. The tours with all the dancers and stress were too much for her. They made her a billion dollars, but the focus was always on sets and choreography. Get her a vocal coach and a regular voice lesson daily, in between workouts and dance rehearsal. The regular schedule will be good for her anyway.

  9. Au contraire - NOT MV. Lookin' at you, J. Lo.

  10. I bought tickets and know full well what I'm paying for. 2 hours of my Brit waving her arms around while her medical handlers errr back up dancing shuffle her on stage. And I will love and scream during every effing second of it. Amen.

  11. I'm obsessed with Work Bitch, mostly because it's pretty much all spoken word :)

  12. Nobody will pay hindreds of dollars. Most of the seats will be comped. If she does a couple good shows this will work out fine for her. Only then will tickets be worth hundreds of dollars. She just might sing again too.

  13. Lip-syncing is theft, pure and simple. The only time it's appropriate is in the studio, never in concert.

    1. Robert, I could see your point if this was Adele, but we are talking about Brit Brit ;)

    2. And wouldn't that be fraud and not theft? How does one steal their own vocals?

  14. Not sure who ever thought Brittany had talent.. she was a novelty act at best. Her getting "singing lessons" pretty much proves my point.

  15. I attended her concert about 8 yrs ago and she sang live for the slower songs.

  16. Only reason to show up is hoping for a.wardrobe malfunction. Other than that who cares?

  17. I've seen her being interviewed on a few entertainment shows this week and I'm impressed at how many candid words she has been able to say. I guess they lessened her dose for the occasion.

  18. Also, if I were going to a Britney concert I would be more concerned about the dancing rather than the signging. As in--will they lower her dose enough so that she doesn't look so damn sluggish.

  19. Yeah I've noticed in recent photos that she's looking less robo-chick and more humanoid.

  20. It does come down to you have to sing all the time and train your voice if you want to be able to have a voice that will last through a tour or night after night in a Vegas gig.

I have no problem with backing tracks if the singer is singing live the lead vocals or I might be more forgiving, ie Janet Jackson, if there is high octane dancing but I ain't going to buy a ticket to see someone lip synch the whole night.

Give me a live band any day of the week.

And the bottom line is the people who do sing live are going to lose their voice or come close to it at certain points of the tour - try to get your ticketrs early in the tour or after a good break. But I can forgive that too.

Or if you are going to lip synch be good enough to at least make the audience wonder is she singing or not.

  21. I would not knock her for getting singing lessons, even the best singers don't always know how to breath properly or have bad habits that are not good for their voice, even the best can learn from a good teacher but yeah I know what it looks like

  22. I had read that Paris Hilton's voice was so "thin" they mixed her own voice over itself 10 times....to make it sound like a decent enough voice

  23. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. MAYBE she will sing a ballad live, but no way in hell will she sing live if she is "dancing".

  24. i went to a few shows back in
1998-2001. she never used her live voice when she performs. she's like janet jackson and paula abdul. great dancers but never an actual singers.

  25. I'd rather go to the cheese show.

  26. Who the hell cares?

  27. So, since Enty says that she hasn't sang live in ten years...does that mean she's not MV? Because that implies she has sung live and then that she sang even sporadically up to 2002/3. If she was singing live at all, that rules out MV, right?

  28. just let her dance and look pretty.......

  29. She may sing live, but the mike won't be plugged in.

  30. I agree that people will buy tickets anyway. They don't come to hear her sing. They come to watch the PR phenomenon that is Britney Spears. And she will be covered by so many dancers that no one will ever say it's a bad show, even if she just stands there, lip synching.

  31. Oh, and Brit Brit looks gorgeous in that picture!!

  32. I always thought of her as more of a dancer than singer.

  34. Plz just sing!! She's a goddamn performer for darns sake...dont make excuses for her. I swear, yall make all too many of excuses for someone who makes millions of dollars a year. Yes this betch should sing live. Shes a singer. Yes she can sing...shes just a lazy betch. T.I.A.
