Blind Items Revealed

June 26, 2013

I don't know if you would refer to this as an Old Hollywood Blind Item or not. It was in the past, but is not that old school. It all happened on a hit network television show. A huge network hit. It involved two actors who were probably B-/C+ list at the time. They met and fell in love on the show. They also died because of that love. One was a younger actor who saw something in the older actor that he could not resist. At first, neither knew the other was gay because at that time, everything was a secret and almost everyone was still in the closet. The two ran into each other at a watering hole though and the next thing you knew, the two were together almost everyday. The younger actor was already infected with HIV, but didn't know it at the time. The two started having a love affair and it was after they had started that the the younger actor learned he had HIV. Shortly after, the older actor learned he too had contracted the HIV virus. At one point in their relationship, the younger actor became very sick and kept getting sick and the two had to split because it was still important to their careers that they remain silent about their sexuality. There was a lot of heartbreak, but they felt it was for the best to split. The younger actor died first, followed later by the older actor.

Younger actor: Timothy Patrick Murphy
Older actor: Tom Fuccello
TV show: "Dallas"

  2. I just looked up the actors. Timothy Patrick Murphy's younger brother later died on 9/11 in the world trade center. Some families have horrible luck! Sad story. I think a lot of people got this one.

  3. Dack Rambo, who played Jack Ewing on Dallas, also died from AIDS.

    1. Stop making up fake names like Dack Rambo. Turn off the auto spelling feature on your phone please.

    2. That was his name. No auto spelling needed!

    3. IMDB is your friend. Dack Rambo was very handsome and a good actor too.

    4. Dack was the original Rambo, long before Sylvester coined it

Wendy are you joking or just rude?

    6. @Char, i think Wendy is just weird. Not really funny or with it. Whatever. Ignore the ones who make no sense. Even me... ;)

    7. Thanks for using the term "with it" now I know what it feels like to live iin the '70s. I once worked with an ugly old fat broad who went around telling people that they were weird because they weren't clones of her. She had the ugliest skin, brassy hair, goiter neck, glasses that became sunglasses outside and worst wardrobe I have ever seen. Oh and she had a voice more shrill than Rosanne Barr. Is this you commenting Kelly B?

    8. So, Wendy, is this just your way of not admitting you were wrong? BTW, just so you're totally "with it," Dack had a twin brother, Dirk.

  5. Oh my God, that is fucking depressing! And the brother of the one guy died on 9/11? Think I'll start drinking early today.

  8. Such a sad story. At least they had some happiness together for a time.
Kinda wish it wasn't revealed though. Outing people and talking about illnesses seems wrong to me.
Yeah yeah, its a gossip site, blah blah.

  9. Hey, at least we're here talking about what they went through in a positive light. Idve never heard of their story if it hadn't been put here.

    1. For awhile I was fascinated by the model Gia Carangi. She died in 86 I believe at the age of 26 from AIDs. She was everything a fashion model wasn't supposed to be: gay, heroin addict and dying from AIDs. Angie Jolie basically stole her personality from Gia in her twenties.

  11. There have been rumors about these two for years. Everybody knew they died of AIDS and it was rumored they dated. TPM admitted to being gay and claimed to have had an affair with Brad Davis.

You could add another aspect to this blind revealed the younger actor also had a relationship, and possibly contracted from or to Brad Davis. Super depressing all around.
(Also not necessarily "outing" anybody, all 3 lead visibly obvious personal lives, they just didn't broadcast them to the public at large.)

  13. BTW-It's on both their Wiki pages that they died of AIDS. Enty used public knowledge about their deaths and comments from the internet and made up a BI.

  14. Who did they play? I don't recognize the names. I knew about Dack Rambo, he was a cutie. Sads.

  15. That's a joke right? Dack Rambo was his actual name. I loved him on Sword of Justice, that was a GREAT show. Oddly, I don't think I remember him on Dallas, I must have stopped watching by then.

  16. This is soo sad and i hope they both together now, in peace. If we are all made in the image and likeness of God, that includes gay people.

  17. A very sad blind indeed! RIP to both.

  18. I love Old Hollywood Blind Items.

  19. And tragically Brad Davis also passed from AIDS IIRC. Too many deaths that could have possibly been avoided had we not been so narrow minded from the onset. I lost a few friends and one dear family member to this scourge.

  20. There is more than one rude person on this thread; I'm chalking it up to youthful ignorance.

In the 1980s, dying of AIDS (Called "GRID" back then - "GAY-RELATED IMMUNODEFICIENCY DISEASE") at age 29 was so NOT rare; it was tantamount to a death sentence for anyone, no matter their age. It was a truly horrific time.

The original "Dallas" is NOT from the Golden Age, or even what is considered OLD Hollywood. As if. Humphrey Bogart is spinning in his grave.

Like many other commenters here, this post really affected me. The worst part was reading how they ended their relationship because thought it best for the sake of their careers. Sadly it was probably true, but I hope everyone who didn't advise them to just say to hell with their careers and move someplace where they could be together for whatever time they had left still has bad dreams about this one.
