Blind Item #5

This waiter says he has never run into this problem before. he is a waiter a great place to eat in Toronto and to make ends meet he does a little gay escort work. Not much, and only for the clientele who can afford to pay him a lot of money. He meets them at his job where he waits tables and if the person is interested in him, they leave him his fee as a tip to the bill. He then meets them that night. Well, this week, he had two A list mostly movie actors who he has been with before show up at the same time to his restaurant and they both gave him huge tips. It was the first time he had ever been asked by two people at the same time and he didn't want to make either one mad but he took the A+ list mostly movie actor because is a better customer and will tip again at the end of the night while the A list mostly movie actor can be rude, doesn't always shower and never tips again. This was last night so I don't know if he is seeing the cheapskate A lister tonight or not.

  5. Jackman and Gyllenhaal. Prisoners screened at TIFF last night.

  6. The pics of jake G and Hugh look like jake is going all fan girl on him.

I'd like to believe this blind but most places have a general tip pool procedure so that part doesn't make sense. The waiter would have to put any tip into the general pot to be split between staff.

  7. Not everywhere urban chaos in fact I've served at several establishments and have never had to pool my tips. Just tip to the kitchen and its a percentage of your sales for the night

  8. Camcolty- good to know, my limited knowledge applies to some popular TIFF spots where I know staff and that's always how I've understood things.

  9. Not if he specified they use cash? then he wouldn't necessarily have to tell anyone, right? Not everywhere pools their tips anyway, although I don't know how it works in Canada.

  10. Definitely the TIFF visitors

    3. That would be fantastic! natch!
      ^^
I miss Ted, I wonder how long it will take him to finaaally sign the contract he's been hinting at for the last couple of months... I was thinking gawker/defamer at the start of the summer, but it could be any big corp. I wish he would start a blog &/or collaborate w/ E! former anwser b!tch, now Fame Fatale aka Leslie Gornstein (check out her blog, it's great).
What do you think VIP? ;)

  12. I have worked in only one restaurant where tips are pooled. Pooled tips is not the norm in Toronto. The opposite in fact.

Not Jake and Hugh because they would have dined together. The blind indicates two separate tables because of two separate cheques.

  14. lots of films are screening at toronto, not just the prisoners.

  15. I was thinking Jackman and Fassbender.

    Cumberpatch and Leto?

    (Kevin) Kline and (Ralph) Fiennes?

    Hiddleston and (Dan) Stevens?

  19. This sounds like the most inefficient way possible to make these transactions -- and on top of that potentially makes the tips reportable/taxable income depending on how it's done, not to mention raising eyebrows with the managers for basically running big amounts of money through their operation for prostitution or, for all they know, some other trafficking that needs money laundering. (Enty says only select clientele can afford this fee, and presumably one of the reasons the waiter has clients pay it as part of his tip through the restaurant is so he can get that huge amount paid via credit cards as opposed to cash).

  21. I thought prostitution was legal in Toronto as long as it is not on the street and no pimp is involved. So why the tip games?

  22. I was just having the Hugh Jackman conversation last night with my friend who's interviewed him multiple times and swears he isn't gay. And my friend is gay, so I would think is gaydar would go off if so. He did say that Hugh was one of the most genuinely nice celebrities he's ever interviewed, and has that elusive star power that just draws people immediately in and makes them feel like they are the only person in the room. Said he connects very powerfully with everyone he meets.

    1. So he's not gay because he didn't try to fuck your gay friend? Because gays fuck everyone right? And your friend is so irresistible.

The comments on here are fucking ridiculous here sometimes. I usually ignore it but get fucking real!

  23. As someone who's served in Yorkville for TIFF, I can say I know for a fact most places around don't have a tip pool. Yes, the server will have to tip out based on the sales for the kitchen busser, etc... but as it's based on the sales, the majority of the huge tip will still go to the server.

    Guesses -

    A+ Hugh Jackman
A- Not sure. I don't think Jakey poo, as I just can't see him not showering/ being the stinky type...
I think Johnny Depp is coming to town?

  24. I like this blind because it is a heartwarming look into the tender life of a waitperson/prostitute and the myriad ethical choices they face every day!

  25. @derek why, because there are no gay male escorts in Toronto? L

  28. @Cee Kay no there is plenty of them---that is why I find it hard to believe that this one waiter is so popular----like the guy doesn't have a phone etc. to call in advance and what the hot hustler waiter in Toronto is the talk of Hollywood closet cases?

Not surprised but ooooh girl! This is good! Whod pick grumpy gus gyllrmhal over sweet multitalented wolverine????

  30. There's a huge contingent of "hygienically challenged" actors: Depp, DiCaprio, Hawke, Matthew M, Pitt, Gylenhaal, brother and sister, and her hubby, Tobey Maguire, Shia LaDouche, Brand, Butler...i have friends that work in costumes and as stylists. They say it gets really gross.

    ReplyDelete
  31. A list actors known for not being a fan of the soap and water: Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Matthew McConaughy...who else?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think Leto is B list actor, so not him. Gylenhaal as the nice one. Shia as the rude cheapskate.

    ReplyDelete
  33. So how does this even come up in conversation to make the deal? Tonight's special is braised steak with a port wine reduction and if you tip me really well, I will blow you later, and for side dishes we have double stuffed potatoes....... I call bullshit on all of these blinds. You would think that every celebrity just gets hammered on drugs and alcohol and fucks anything that moves. They can't all be depraved can they?

  34. Loving the Bruce Bibby (ahem, TC) spec.....hehe

  35. I've been in close proximity to Jackman and my gaydar went off big time. He IS a lovely person.

Toothy Tile! Heh. I miss Bruce Bibby.

  39. Okay that's all fine and wonderful ... but we don't know that they were the only two A/A+ list film actors in Toronto for the festival let alone at a restaurant.

Hugh is not gay and Jake has got to be a B/B+.

Think harder. The waiter had seen them before.

  40. Daniel Radcliffe and Zac Ephron were there. Been reading this site for two years and just started guessing. Seems like Enty's version of A list and my version definitely don't match. He seems to assign A list a bit more liberally so that's why I'm venturing my guess. I'll continue to flip through pics.

  41. I'd like to see the info on this "waiter" too. just don't buy this one!

  42. Jason Statham for the cheapskate not so nice one?

  43. Brad Pitt for one of them.

  44. You might be surprised at how well you get to know regular customers, especially if it is a high-end establishment. While I've never met a server who is a blatant escort, "dating" a customer who is charming and might just have left a nice tip isn't that uncommon.

  45. There's a reason that "waitperson/prostitute" is a career category.

  46. @Bebedog: that was hilarious, and i agree.

  47. I don't think Hugh Jackman is gay. Those rumors started after he played Peter Allen on Broadway (The Boy From Oz). Never heard anything even hinting that he was gay before that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Would anyone charge the kind and wonderful Hugh Jackman for anything? I think not. I'd be shocked if a restaurant charged him for his meal unless it was on the production company's tab. I doubt this is him.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Lori I have heard that about Hugh from people who have met him too, in a business context not just fan type situations.
