Blind Item #2
What B-list rock-star spawn is begging and pleading with producers of the Broadway revival of this Tony and Oscar winning musical to cast her in the lead female role because unlike the almost A-list mostly movie actress they hired, she can sing and dance and pull off a pretty good British accent. Plus, she's friends with the person who made the role famous, so at least she's got some connections.

ReplyDeleteLivvie Tyler.
ReplyDeleteMy Fair Lady, and does Liv sing? She did attempt an English accent in LOTR.
ReplyDeleteLourdes Leon, Cosette (older), Les Miserables, Amanda Seyfried
ReplyDeleteThere's a revival of "Cabaret" with Michelle Williams in Liza's role.
ReplyDeleteLourdes wouldn't be a B-list though. Does Liv sing?

ReplyDeleteDon't think this is about Cabaret. Sally Bowles isn't a Brit in Cabaret so there's no need for an accent.
ReplyDeleteLivvy sang in a Givenchy commercial 2 years ago
ReplyDeleteCould this be My Fair Lady?
ReplyDeleteMy Fair Lady
ReplyDeleteAnne Hathaway as A list actress
Could Kelly Osborne be friends with Julie Andrews? Even more so than AnnE? Andrews originated the role on Broadway.
@Dolphy: in the stage play "Cabaret," Sally Bowles is English. They made her American for the movie. Don't know if that was for thematic reasons or because Liza Minelli couldn't do the accent!
ReplyDeleteFun fact: in the first London production, Judi Dench played Sally.
Can Liv sing well enough for My Fair Lady though? Her voice is so.. squeaky.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Francis Bean, the very bitchy and mean.
@Jenn, Frances Bean would make a very interesting Sally Bowles, although a starring role on Broadway as a first gig is definitely starting at the top!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be Cabaret, right? There has been no news regarding My Fair Lady, not for months and months.
ReplyDeleteKelly Osborne can't sing to save her life.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you guys spell Anne hathaways first name AnnE?
ReplyDeleteCJ, Anne very assholingly complained that one of the acting awards she received had her name spelled incorrectly on stage (missing the e) and we all thought it was tacky. So everyone calls her AnnE.
ReplyDeleteKelly already has the accent and a pretty steady job on E!. If she wanted to sing, she would have recorded an album a long time ago or tried to act in another movie after that one she did with Miley Cyrus.
Kimberly Stewart
ReplyDeleteKelly did release at least one album. I remember it was all dance tracks, so heavily produced so she prolly can't sing that well.
ReplyDeleteI would say Kimberly Stewart, but does she have any talent at all?
ReplyDeleteJust to make it interesting; Paris Jackson, musical The Wiz, friends with Diana Ross
ReplyDeleteNeither Jill Haworth (the original Sally in the 1960s Broadway musical version) or the late Natasha Richardson (in Sam Mendes' 2000 revival, also with Alan Cumming) could sing worth a damn, so that certainly isn't a prerequisite for the stage role (Minelli turned it into one of her usual histrionic scenery-chewing turns for the Bob Fosse film).
ReplyDeleteThe "rock star spawn" may think she has better singing and dancing skills, but like Richardson, Williams is an excellent actress, which is what is foremost when casting Sally Bowles for the stage.
That said, being chummy with Minelli isn't anything to recommend her, either. Bleh.
Anne is very friendly with Julie, especially after the Princess Diaries. She presented her with the lifetime achievement awards at the Princess Grace foundation banquet with a very heartfelt speech. I don't think that's the issue unless they cast someone else and Anne wanted the job.
ReplyDeleteAlexa Ray?
ReplyDeleteOooh Lutefleck, Alexa Ray is an excellent guess.
DeleteHey Sherry, I just asked my husband if we could hire End of the Century and he said "why? I've got it on DVD". Derp. Guess I'll be watching that tonight!
DeleteShe was the first person to pop into my head. She is certainly talented and has connections.
ReplyDeleteGood one luteflex
DeleteLiv sung on the LOTR soundtrack, the song played during the the House Of Healing scene in RoTK. We played it at our wedding, it's beautiful, and absolutely not what I would have imagined Liv's singing voice to be.
ReplyDeleteInteresting if it is her. She's been pretty quiet lately.
Rach, did you see her Gap commercial? She has a really nice voice. I could see her on Broadway.
ReplyDeleteI'm as annoyed by Hathaway as anybody else but, in all seriousness, is it really an asshole move to want your name spelled correctly? What exactly am I missing here?
