Blind Item #1

"That was one of the worst concerts I've ever been to. I'm just glad I didn't have to pay. No one other than her fans will buy her music... hell it isn't even music, it's noise. A five year old can write better s**t than her." - A+ singer and songwriter about this slowly-slipping from A to B-list eccentric diva.

    1. I am wrong. It's Gaga for the music and Madonna for the gabber.

  4. Me after seeing Jewel, who was the opening act for Peter Murphy. Worst concert EVER!

    1. I know. Jewel just totally confuses me. Talented singer songwriter who never sounds the same from one song to the next. She is a chameleon like Sienna Miller-no two photos look alike. She is just all over the map. i can imagine getting annoyed at her concert. I would never bother to go see her.

    2. Jewel and Peter Murphy? Huh? His solo stuff and Bauhaus catalog are amazing, why does he need her to yodel before he goes on?

  8. Wasn't Cher just seen leaving a Gaga concert?

  9. ...are we sure on Madonna for the concert-goer? I've never heard of Madonna writing her own songs and the blind says singer and songwriter...

  10. @Nora, Madonna contributes to her songs, and then shares $$$ songwriting credit with the main writer.

Given the weakness of her recent output - her last album bombed big time - it would be ironic if Madonna was the source of this comment.

  11. It's Adele talking about Lady CaCas iTunes festival show. Yes, she was there...

  12. Zeeky_Boogy_Doog , how the fuck does Jewel end up opening for Peter Murphy? Who thought that a good combo? I did once see Murphy...with opening act NIN.

  13. i'm kinda feeling B.C.D.'s guess.

  14. Sean - it was as good as you'd expect. HORRIBLE! No idea why she opened for him, it was before she got famous.

She'd sing a song, yodel, and tell long, drawn out stories that ended with "...and we smoked pot."

That tour with NIN was amazing! 1990? I still remember how good "Socrates the Python" sounded in that concert hall. Kinda broke my heart when Bauhaus was the opening act for NIN much later; I like NIN but Bauhaus is where the heart lies.

  15. Adele as the songwriter is a great guess. While Madonna and Cher may write some of their stuff nobody would call them songwriters. And I'd so love to see Lady Caca ending up performing in state fairs and half-empty clubs.

  16. Man. When she had those three (s)hits in a row, I worked in a place where people kept the radio on a top 40 station. They'd play all three songs every hour. It's a miracle I didn't get fired or arrested for throwing all the radios into a volcano!

  18. Oops! "She" meaning Jewel. Argh... even thinking about her three (s)hit singles makes me wanna barf! Does anyone know which part of the brain stores awful music, and can I kill it easily with an ice pick?

  20. I'll buy the Adele/Gaga. Kinda bitchy for Adele though considering both woman write vastly different types of music and have different fan bases.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well considering Gaga called Adele a fat bitch a while back, I think this is the least Adele could say. All Gaga does is dance and dress like an alien on acid. Woooooo so talented.

  22. I feel that it's unfair that Madonna doesn't get the credit she deserves as a songwriter. She's written some of her biggest hits and not just fluff, either! Frozen, Don't Tell Me.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm going with Gaga. She brags she's all about her art but rumors are she stole her creative successes. I think Rihanna's an end-product: a stage presence and a studio-tweaked voice. She doesn't pretend to have any creative input on her songs, does she?

  24. @Golly HoLightly, so agree, I think Madonna eternally cemented her songwriter A-list status with the stellar Ray of Light. Seems to me its songs are playing on the radio more often lately.

    ReplyDelete
  25. shit. Madonna cemented my love for Latino's ever since La Isla Bonita.

  26. I like the Adelle/Gaga guess.

  27. it's me after a Black Eye Peas concert at Paris 2/3 years ago

  28. re: Madonna, she helps with the lyrics, but the songs themselves are mostly written by someone else. I think she tried to get her name on the credit for You Must Love Me from Evita, but Andrew Lloyd Webber was having none of that shit. LOL

But she certainly does have input, and final say on a song for sure. And BTW, by far her best album was Erotica. Sadly it was overlooked because of all the backlash about her Sex book (which no matter what you think about it, was something NO SINGER has ever done before) and the dreadful Body of Evidence movie. But the album had about 8 or 9 excellent tracks. One of my top 5 for sure.

  32. I went to the monster ball.. and was very impressed, actually! Girl worked her ass off for 3 hours.. barely left the floor.. I'm not a huge fan, but I thought that concert was well done, and she sounds good live. Of course, I haven't heard anything more recent.

  34. For some reason, I really wanted to imagine Taylor saying this about Gaga or RiRi or anyone really.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anyone about Taylor Swift.

  36. I can see Adele saying this about GaGa. I don't think her concerts are for everybody.

    ReplyDelete
  37. "aren't" for everybody. Sorry

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think it's Taylor Swift for the bad-mouther. Gaga or Rih for the slipping singer.

  39. Madonna contributes a little to some of her songs (mostly lyrics) but the credit is mostly for her to get a share of the royalties on the radio, like when an actor gets a producer credit in a film.

    @Nutty_Flavor
It's no big deal if her albums flop. At that point in her career (like for many artists that have been around for decades), the album only exists as an excuse to do a world tour. She left Warner and she has a 360 deal with her concert promoter, Live Nation, which then licenses her new recordings to a label.
Justin Timberlake's album from last year was released for the very same reason. Due to an old contract, he had to honor a joint tour with Jay-Z and the promoter needed fresh songs by him to promote the tour. As he preferred to act and was to wed Jessica Biel, he only found 20 days in his schedule to record an entire album...

Anyway, I agree it's Adele. Adele writes or co-writes most of her material, which is the difference with Madonna. The Oscar for "Skyfall" would contribute to make her A+ status, and she has reasons to be angry at Lady Gaga.

    ReplyDelete
  40. If Adele is badmouthing Gaga, I'd have to go into the Gaga camp, even as bad as Gaga has been since Alejandro. At least Gaga was almost interesting, unlike Adele with her Munchausen/hysteria and all of her behaviorally-induced health problems.

  41. I don't know bunny-hunny, I saw the GaGa live and thought she was excellent, and there were people from 6 to 60+ all dancing along. And as another commenter said she put on a hell of a show and the whole crew worked their backsides off. Plus what I liked about it was that she was so good to her fans who followed her around and the ones who put a real effort. Inviting a load of them backstage and up on stage with her.

And she kept reiterating her gratitude for becoming successful - I don't care if it's an act because there are plenty of others both "heritage acts" and recent groups, who charged a fortune for gigs and couldn't give a shit (a recent Neil Young concert comes to mind. Even Bob Dylan if he's in a bad mood).

  42. Brenda L - I'm a bit surprised, myself. Surprised and delighted that so many folks know Bauhaus and Peter Murphy. Thinking about those days, 1980s with Bauhaus and 1990 for the second Peter Murphy tour (the non-Jewel one) takes me back to my college days, when I was just a wee baby-bat!

  43. I like the madonna/gaga guess.

  44. I wish it was Nicki Minaj...
    Her music is pure garbage

    ReplyDelete
  45. Gaga is all over the place. I believe she's talented - Bad Romance and Born This Way are great songs - but her mental instability isn't just a gimmick anymore, it's for real. Before her fame, she used to tell people who rejected her she'd be famous some day and they'd be sorry. Her work is slipping as her ego takes the blows of her mega success taking just a tiny hit.
It remains to be seen whether she can get her act together and focus on the music first, the gimmick second.
Adele is all about the music, period. And Madonna - well, she's stood the test of time. Will Gaga? I hope so, but right now she's her own worst enemy in so many ways.
