Alanis Morissette Being Sued For $100K By Former Nanny

For two years Alanis Morissette had a night nanny who would stay in the room of her newborn child from 9pm until 9am. Then the day nanny would come and take over and every few days Alanis would pop in and say hi to the kid. No, not the last part but when you have a nanny 24 hours a day and the nanny is never allowed to leave the side of the child it seems to me that is because the parents aren't around as much as they could be. I don't remember too many photos of Alanis out in public with the baby. There are some but they are few and far between. I think over the past three years there might be about twenty and generally the nanny is just a few steps away as the dad, not Alanis carries the baby.

Anyway, the nanny who was paid $25 an hour for her job says that she is owed about $30K in unpaid overtime and that seven different times she was forced to work seven consecutive days without any kind of overtime and that on her shift she was not allowed to have a break or ever leave the bedroom unless Alanis or her husband or the other nanny was there. So, basically no bathroom breaks or food for the twelve hours.

This sounds like Alanis. Alanis is not overly concerned with others in her life which is why she got along so well with Ryan Reynolds for so long. As I have documented here before she has blown off fans and skipped meeet and greets because she couldn't be bothered. This attitude could also be one of the reasons she has not had a hit in well over a decade and is still living back in the day when people loved her. With damages and other items the nanny is suing for $100K. Alanis should settle because the other nanny is thinking about suing too.

  1. You never miss a chance to bash Reynolds...what has he done to you? Lol

  2. I always get her mixed up with Anthony Kiedis back when he had long hair.

  3. 'Jagged Little Pill' was 15 years ago. Has she had a hit since?

Also, who's the husband? Too lazy to look it up.

  5. A night nanny?

I'm all about my kid sleeping alone.

And when they wake up screaming, don't they want their momma?

    I'm gonna shut up now....

  6. Poor night nanny, sounds exactly like being a real mummy only without the $25 dollars an hour!

  10. Aw, Alanis forgot that she was once young and underpaid, tired but working. She's got one hand in her pocket and the other one needs a day nanny.

  11. Both nannys should sue. They will win. Strength in numbers. Really hate it when people with money can't be fair with people making their lives easier. Looking at you Ahnold!

    1. Fuck fair. $25 an hour is fair. Do what you were hired to do. Don't take a job if you can't handle it.

    2. Totally agree, that's your pay, do your job. HOWEVER, no bathroom or food breaks? That's beyond ridiculous, what baby needs you in the immediate room 24/7? None, in fact, worst thing I can think of for a baby to learn to self-soothe and become independent.

  12. Celebs shouldnt have kids. They either ignore them or raise them to be self entitled bastards.

  13. I seem to recall Enty posting another story about Alanis being an extended breastfeeding Mom. Hard to EBF when you don't see the kid for 12 hours.

Also, I've seen pics of her wearing Ever.

Woman hatin' Enty must be workin' today

Also, if you click on her name and scroll through photos, there are two or three of her with the kid.

    1. That song should've been called "bummers" since the scenarios had nothing to do with irony and were just...bummers. ;)

  16. You only need one "Jagged Little Pill" and you're set for life. She really lucked out with the formula she and Glen Ballard developed. Before JLP she was known as "The Debbie Gibson of Canada."

She looks like the love child if Mr Ed and Witchy poo from HR Pufnstuf. Also, she didn't have a fucking clue as to the actual definition of irony & I cringe when I hear that song on the radio.

  18. What kind of lunatic insists that someone is in the same room as a sleeping baby every 2nd. Has she ever heard of a baby monitor? And for two years? Have fun with a 3 yr old who can't play with toys without adult participation. Now that's the nanny who should sue.

  20. 15 years ago? That album came out 18 years ago. Summer of 95'. That "You-ah, you-ah, you-ah oughta-know-ah" song was all MTV played. Back when MTV played videos.

    Me old.

  21. One of the Enties has a long-standing beef with Alanis over that whole autograph thing. I am guess he/she/it got stood up and was bummed that the artist behind the anthems of his/her/its angsty late teens and early twenties left him/her/them high and dry.

  23. Hate to stereotype but Canadians are basically all rude.

Worked at a call center Hilton Hell and all Canadians that called were very very rude!

    Just saying.

  24. Oozing with judgment. Oh, the little woman isn't acting all martyr-like and nurturing, and - horror! - the father is the one carrying the baby instead of the bloated Mommy creature! Call the thought police and arrest her.

  25. Kind of strange that the nanny wouldn't just go to the bathroom as needed, especially if the parents weren't there to see she was leaving the room. Was this like a jail? Celebs are so weird. I would have hoped Alanis was a good one.

@Susan, totally agree with everything you said.

  26. I've read on a lot of forums and Youtube too, that Alanis is not a sweet person by any means. Also, she was having an affair with a much older producer from her early teens to early 20s, which I found far more interesting and downright sick.

  27. 1. Nursery no doubt had an adjoining bathroom so nanny wasn't forced to hold it in for 8 hours.

    2. We had to watch our newborn all night because she had reflux. We did not want her to choke in her sleep.

    3. Singers often travel and work nights.

    4. Nannies deserve to be paid for extra time and days they've worked. I'm not sure how celebrities protect themselves from being shaken down by employees who make allegations to get settlements unless they have punch-clocks installed in their homes. Conversely, I don't know how people who work for stars with non-disclosure agreements protect themselves from being mistreated, or if this keeps them from reporting mistreated children.
