Today's Blind Items - Kindness
This is not a particularly long or elaborate blind, but I wanted to give it the 10:10 spot because I think it is great what this couple has done the past few years. The husband is an actor. I always think of him as A list, but that is because he has been on television forever and was in one of my favorite movies that no one else ever watched. he has had the very good fortune of being on two very hit television shows and one of them is currently still a hit and on a network. His wife is an actress, and was way more popular than the actor when they got together. She does not act as much any longer. A few years ago they went to the manager of a grocery store and asked how much it would cost to buy the entire contents of the store. All of it. The manager gave them a number and the couple said they wanted to buy it all. The manager thought it was a great idea, but that he could not afford to let them take all his stock and that they probably did not need everything he sold. They came to an agreement and the couple ordered every item of food that was currently in the store. Canned goods to meat to produce. All of it. They also ordered every paper item and dish and cooking item. They then have done the same thing every year and donate it all to various local food banks and churches and homeless missions. All told they have spent well over $1M the past few years without anyone even knowing.
Mark Harmon and Pam dawber
ReplyDeleteMy first thought too. With summer school being the movie! Great flick
DeleteDanson
ReplyDeleteEnt is obviously a fan of Creepshow
DeleteAgree with Fijigirl: Harmon and Dawber
ReplyDeleteMark Harmon and Pam Dawber (Mork and Mindy)
ReplyDeleteYep, you guys got it! That is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteExtrodinary!! Uber kind!
DeleteMark Harmon is still extremely attractive. I'm going to go with the masses and go with Harmon/Dawber. Only reason I don't think it's Danson, is because Mary has never been a bigger actress than him.
ReplyDeleteNo clue but this is awesome.
ReplyDeleteFirst thought was also Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber. She's a very, very nice person. Mark's a little more guarded.
ReplyDeleteI love these kindness blinds!
ReplyDeleteKevin kline, phoebe cates.
ReplyDeleteYAY Mark & Pam!!! One of my oldest 'couple-crushes'. I want them happy together forever.
ReplyDeleteAnyone seen The Soup show clips of Harmon's character walking & talking on his show? It's not as trite as the CSI: Miami opening, but it's still funny how often the writers make Harmon do that..
Oh come on, who doesn't love Summer School?
ReplyDeleteSeriously! I watched that movie a million times when I was younger.
Delete@yodelay. I'd still watch it if Scientology Spokesnut Kirstie Alley wasn't in it.
DeleteI hope this is revealed. I also hope it's my uber-crush, Mark Harmon. That man has hit the jackpot at genetic roulette!
ReplyDeleteThat's great every item in the store must run way into 6 figures
ReplyDeletei LOVED SUMMER SCHOOL
ReplyDeleteand he is soooooo cute!
kevin bacon/kyra sedgwick
ReplyDelete^ooo...scratch that. just read the bit about television.
ReplyDeleteboo. i'd love it to be them.
MR. SHOOP! "I ain't no English teacher! See - double negative."
ReplyDeleteWhoever it is, it's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI thought Ted and Mary
ReplyDeletePam Dawber and I grew up on the same street, albeit like 30 years apart. Her parents were very nice, though.
ReplyDeleteMark Harmon was my first celeb crush way back in the days of Flamingo Rd and that helicopter thing with Joanna Cassidy (am I remembering right?). Ughhh so so gorgeous and has aged amazingly. I had a favourite film back in the very early 90's called Stealing Home and he was in it with Jodie Foster I think. Ooh, happy memories.
ReplyDeleteHope it's them, I can just see it.
Met him when he was a college quarterback and played our university team. Have had a crush on him ever since. It was a long time ago, but even then he was a nice guy. Wonderful parents. Raised right, as my mom said.
DeleteThis is very nice, but isn't a little weird? Aren't there lots of items in a grocery store that wouldn't be of much use and/or of very limited use? Like, for instance, saffron. Things like that.
ReplyDeleteIt seems buying $x dollars of the following y things would make more sense than "I'll take everything."
Enty... I also love Summer School. Shit's so cash. It's almost as good as Gung Ho. Gung Ho wins by an inch, because of George Wendt.
ReplyDelete@Ryan, I'll be spending time with George this weekend. I'll let him know of your devotion.
DeleteMy first thought was Gibbs and Mindy, too.
ReplyDeleteWatching NCIS, so the first thing that came to mind Mark Harmon/Pam Dawber. Yay! Love them both.
ReplyDeleteturningvioletviolet: Pam HATED Jodie in that movie. She kept saying she was too butch and it never dawned on me that she was calling her a lesbian.

ReplyDeleteSummer School rings a bell of a fave of enty from a long ago post. YAY Mark and Pam. Love me some Mark Harmon and NCIS. Now must go search for the Gibb's Soup clips.
ReplyDeleteClearly the movie Enty is talking about it one of my own favorites, the TV masterpiece The Deliberate Stranger with Mark Harmon as Ted Bundy.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking The Deliberate Stranger too. Love that movie.
DeleteFinally an NCIS blind, and it's a Kindness blind!!! Hooray hooray!!! This made my day!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope it is them! Harmon as Bundy was PERFECTION.
ReplyDeletei love kindness blinds. Thank you Enty!
ReplyDeleteYep, first guy I thought of was Harmon. And he's A+++ in my book. Great guy. Oh, and Enty... the movie was Summer School, AMIRITE!?!
ReplyDeleteThe movie could have been "Stealing Home" too. Jodie Foster was in that one.
ReplyDeleteI thought Mark Harmon also.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Megan Mullaly (sp?) and Nick Offerman.
ReplyDeleteI love Summer school
ReplyDeleteEveryone take your seat
Where should we take them?!
Sit down Francis!
Harmon has lived a charmed existence. Before becoming an actor he was the starting QB at UCLA at the close of the 1960's. L.A. football hero at the height of the sexual revolution with that face. Damn, if I reincarnate that's what I want to come back as.
ReplyDeleteHe gave an interview on the old Bob Costas late night show & told the story of how he could never measure up to his father. Tom Harmon was a Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Michigan and a storied legend. He described the night UCLA beat their rivals USC and his father was waiting for him in the tunnel & he finally felt like his Dad was proud of something he'd done. I was practically sobbing by the end of the story. He's a good guy.
Sounds like Harmon and Dauber.
ReplyDeleteWhoever it is, that's lovely.
I loved "Presidio" and "Stealing Home."
ReplyDeleteIt sure sounds like Harmon and Dawber. I first saw Harmon in St. Elsewhere. That series also gave us Denzel Washington. Major crushes on both of them at the time.
ReplyDeleteOooohh, yummy Mark Harmon! Years ago I worked on an event to which many celebs were invited (by snail mail to their reps). Lo and behold, one morning I arrived to find a voice mail from Mr. Harmon himself. Oh what a sexy voice! I saved that voice mail for months. It was a great little escape on stressful days. He was so nice to me when I returned his call and in person at the event. Cool guy!
ReplyDeleteI love kindness blinds.
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought Pam and Mark, too. He saved a kid from burning to death a few years ago. Bad car wreck. Kid is now an adult and was interviewed. Sings Mark's praises. They both rock.
ReplyDeleteLOL, my sister and I have a running gag about Mark Harmon. I'm a big fan of Mark Hamill and was talking about with my sister. Her reply was "Oooh, I loved him in 'Summer School!'" So now when anybody talks about Hamill, that's the go-to response.
