Richie Sambora Is Gone For Good From Bon Jovi

After 30 years together, Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora have made it official. He is quitting the band or has been fired, depending on who you ask. After years of putting up with his booze and drugs and you know, being a rock star, Jon Bon Jovi got tired of Richie and said he was not welcome back. The group had been testing out a trial separation. Much like in relationships, those rarely work out. You leave, and then you start trying out new things or new people. You start wearing gold chains and wear tight pants. Maybe you start talking with a fake accent. Wait, this is beginning to sound like Gwyneth Paltrow. of course if it was her, then the gold would be Van Cleef and the pants would be wool made from sheep only raised above 20,000 feet and carried down by hand before being cut by Cartier shears and yeah, I could do this all day.

  1. Music is all subjective and personal taste but this is the corniest band of all time and can not for the life of me understand why they are so popular....

  3. He was definitely kicked out. I don't believe for a second that this was his choice alone. And wasn't there some theory going around that he may have been the one who gave Jon's daughter H?

  4. Not too surprised if true Richie involved with Jon's daughters overdose. Yep I would of ditched him too for all that!

  5. Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie have the fake accents happening too, so annoying.

I thought Sambora was already gone.

  7. @Pip: You forgot Madonna's veddy British accent!

Sambora gave JBJ's daughter heroin? If true, he'd be fucking dead to me.

  8. Jon Bon Jovi owns Bon Jovi and the band are all very, very, well paid musicians he employs. The news this morning said Richie earned 2 million a month touring in salary and 20% of the gross profits of the tour.

He must REALLY like booze to give up that kind of pay day.

Mark Cuban said on Howard Stern he he hired Bon Jovi to play at his wife's birthday party. It saved him 1 million that Richie Sambora wasn't playing.

  9. And he will still get residuals from songs he cowrote with JBJ so its not a truly bad thing for him. Shithead never grew up and was never forgiven for the Diane Lane thingy he did

  10. After 30 years, it's about more than money. I actually like Jon.

Why the Goospter had to be brought into this story is beyond me.

  11. Richie Sambora wasn't wanted dead or alive. :( I hope he's not living on a prayer. Sounds like he took bad medicine and the bandmates didn't say I'll be there for you. It's a shot to the heart, but hopefully his final parting went down in a blaze of glory.

    (wah-wah!)

  13. It's all been downhill since New Jersey, anyways. That was an amazing record!

  14. I thought Jon dated Diane Lane when Jon was cheating on his hometown girlfriend (now wife), and then Diane dumped him, Jon wrote the 'You give love a bad name..." lyrics or am I remembering this incorrectly?

  15. Somewhat Anna. JBJ was with Diane after he broke up with his future wife. And JBJ dumped Diane when he found out she was having lotsa fun with Richie.

  17. How did we jump from Richie to Goopy?

In five or ten years they'll make a big deal about getting back together and make even more money.

  18. If anyone is upset by this, I feel kinda sorry for them.

  19. Bon Jovi is one of my favorite bands EVER...as much as I frown upon Richie Sambora's drug use and drama...the band won't be the same without him and his background vocals.
I personally think Jon fired Richie.

  21. I love them both and I saw Richie when he was with Frankie and The Knockouts and was just 17. He is such an amazing talent.

Sad, but I guess after 30 years it's hard.

  22. Many moons ago (1984) I went to see the Scorpions in concert. The opening act was TBA. Rumors were flying. We were fairly sure it was going to be Golden Earring. Got to the venue and weaseled our way through general admission to get front of stage. Got one hell of a contact high in that crowd. Opening band turned out to be Bon Jovi. The song "Runaway" was just breaking out on the radio. They put on a hell of a show. Ritchie and Jon had a bunch of stage charisma.

My 18 yr old, size 1, daughter found that concert t shirt packed away in the basement. She appropriated it for herself because "it's so cool and retro". Yeah, I was a lot skinnier back then.

  23. I've been to a lot of concerts in my day, and Bon Jovi hands down was one of the best performances I've ever seen. Richie Sambora is a huge part of the band for me. They are more than an 80s hair band, IMO. I am dying to know the real story behind the JBJ and Richie breakup. Obviously, this site doesn't know the real dirt since it is diverting to some nonsensical comparison to Gwyneth. If a music journalist or somebody in the know came out with an article about this, I would be all about it. Hopefully the truth comes out.

  24. I was a huge fan on Bon Jovi in the day! Richie has always had a hard time getting his sh*t together. And if the rumors are true and if he did have something to do with Jon's daughter's heroin addition then he deserves to be fired. I also think the band got tired of Richie's rock star shenanigans, it gets old when you're in 50's.

  28. I saw Richie on Craig Ferguson's show last year. Craig had him as his show's "house band" for a week (normally Craig has no house band, which he bitches about constantly). He was fantastic and Craig loved having him there. Richie will land on his feet, I have no doubt.
