This A+ list all movie actress was asked to appear at an event. For charity. A well established charity. The actress said she would be happy to but wanted $250K for her appearance plus another $50K worth of stuff and only promised to be there for 30 minutes. She said her time is valuable and that no matter the cause, her time was more important. The charity declined and then found five other actors and actresses who were huge hits at the event and did it all for free.
Nicole Kidman
Enties and Ted hate that woman. Whatever. Others say otherwise about her.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have feelings one way or the other about her, but this kinda seems like an asshole move.
ReplyDeleteWonder what the charity was?

ReplyDeleteI'd like to know who the five classy bros and broads were.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to do the event, just say you're unable to attend. I too would like to know names of five people who attended in her place.

ReplyDeleteI just did a quick Google search and anyone can easily find advice to charities for bringing in A+ big-name celebrities, and that to do commonly requires paying an appearance fee and round-trip travel and all other expenses. I understand Enty has some moral or ethical thing against this, but if it's such common practice and I can turn that up as the first advice in a single Google search, I do have a problem with basically throwing shit at the celebrity following the normal procedures while letting the charity anonymously trash her for doing so.
ReplyDeleteLook, if this is the normal procedure -- and the advice is that it is, and that charities that don't want to pay the fee should instead look to local names who might agree to appear -- then charities that shit all over a celebrity who follows the established normal procedure for agreeing to an appearance aren't doing themselves any favors. I'm just saying, this is wrong all around.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she is not wrong for asking for an appearance fee. But the celebrities who agreed to attend for free are better. And they make her look pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteAnd maybe it was her management that said it too. It's a possibility.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that's what happened @Sherry
Delete250K IS ALOT OF MONEY!!!
ReplyDeleteits charity, why would you ask for 250k!!??!!
Maybe that's how much her personal time with her new family is worth to her. She doesn't need the money so maybe she didn't really want to attend and knew she'd feel guilty about saying no. It sounds like a win/win all around.
ReplyDeleteIf I was donating to the charity, I would be pretty upset about my money being used to hire a celebrity versus furthering the cause I donated for.
ReplyDeleteIn the place where I live, the Red Cross paid about a million bucks to its former executive director who was fired before his contract was finished. All those volunteers, going door to door, collecting small amounts at each, to help the victims of disaster. All that money going into his pockets. The next year, no one wanted to donate, and no one wanted to be a volunteer.
When I see a celebrity at a charity event, I assume that he or she has donated his time to further the cause. I don't have a problem with the charity paying air fare/hotel if it will increase the takings of the event - Charity Ball, special guest Nicole Kidman! - but I don't find it acceptable for the celebrity to get paid.
@Sherry. I was going to say the same thing. It's not like the charity has Nicole's home phone number and calls her up. Someone's doing the negotiating for her. She may not have heard anything about it until after the charity rejected the demands.
ReplyDelete@Amy....if you think that $300K for 30 minutes is a reasonable fee esp to do a charity event, then you are part of the problem as to why celebrities get paid way too much in this country for what they do.
ReplyDeleteIt's one thing to pay expenses, it's another to pay an appearance fee. There are certainly charities who spend a lot of overhead doing so, and having big soirees where donors can feel fabulous about themselves.
ReplyDeleteThey are very easy to find on Charity Navigator. If you don't want your charitable donations spent that way (and who would), by all means avoid them.
Nutty, the Red Cross sucks. I used to work at a place they became affiliated with. In return for their name being attached, any donation over a certain amount they got a cut of it. None of this was mentioned to the people donating to our organisation. I refuse to donate to the Red Cross, they are scum.
ReplyDeleteI never donate to red cross, and havent for years. Your money doesnt get where it should .i want to know what free stuff was she asking for??
ReplyDelete@nudibelle - Charity is a big business run by corporations (seriously it is.)
ReplyDeleteCharities like the United Way are known for giving almost nothing to charity. Like, less than 10 cents on the dollar in some cases. The rest goes to advertising and overhead.
If you asked me to help a charity that was broke and in need (local food bank), that's one thing. If you ask me to help the Met collect more money that they spend on their board, I'd be like "pay me, yo".
If you're ever interested, watch a documentary called "The Art of the Steal", about the Barnes art exhibit. Fascinating.
Lainey has had some major diva blinds about Kidman as well - not just Enty and Ted.
ReplyDeleteThere's a reason Kidman plays a narcissist so well in the movies, people!
Lainey blinds about her and these have been confirmed:
Who makes sure that her husband has someone on staff specifically to hold her bag while she watches him at work? This is the employee’s only job responsibility. This person does nothing else but hold the bag. There’s no multitasking here. Because the bag can’t be put away in a room or on a table. It must be held. But not by her. Because she photographs much better when she has her hands free. This is Status. This is Respect. This from a woman who claims she’s down with down home living. Not high maintenance? Please.
AND THIS
If motherhood is so rewarding, and what she’s been waiting for her entire life, why is it that there is no evidence of motherhood in her home? Particularly accessories. Pottery Barn doesn’t sell baby bottles.
Which could be why she insists on banning them from the house?
How does she feed her child when there are no bottles in the house?
Well… it’s because she doesn’t feed her child. It’s because the nannies feed her child. The nannies do everything for the child all days of the week. The nannies nanny morning and night while she works morning and night.
Perhaps that’s how she can justify her mandates: no bottles in the house, only bottles in the nanny trailers. She’s the modern mom?
@Lila. Is she Hiring Because I would GLADLY Hold that purse. That's good money right there doing shit.
DeleteCall me Nicole.
@Lila...please. If Nicole Kid man buys her accessories at Pottery Barn, I will eat a bug.

DeleteI remember this BI and everyone guessed this was Gaga. Then we proceeded to have a good ol' fashioned Gaga slamfest, throwing out every diva rumor, rehab rumor, and saying what a self-absorbed has-been she is. I miss those days.
ReplyDeleteThis reveal is no surprise, of course Nicole Kidman is a bitch. What's the next big reveal, Harvey Fierstein is gay?
If you all thought Gaga was an A+ list all movie actress, there was some weird shit in the air that day...
ReplyDeleteif you guys want to donate to two reputable charities you can maybe consider:
ReplyDeleteBaby Watoto - Kampala - Uganda
http://www.watoto.com/projects/the-watoto-model/baby-watoto
I volunteered in their baby watoto centre in Kampala and they do a whole lot of good [unfortunately there is a video in autoplay on the site so lower the volume if you are at work]
Emergency
the site is in Italian but there seems to be an English translation button available:
http://www.emergency.it/index.html
an article on the founder Gino Strada;
http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2013/jul/14/gino-strada-emergency-giles-duley
The names of the other five celebrities who attended in her place were named Tom, Lenny, Isabella, Connor, and Suri.
ReplyDeleteNicole has done many free events in Nashville and I've spoken to her at length. I used to think she was the ice princess as well until I met her in 2005. She is extremely shy but has a grateful attitude. It takes more than my opinion to change so many others, but she is very nice in person and helped tremendously after the Nashville flood in 2010...even answered phones. No one was paid to appear.
ReplyDeleteGrain of salt - on anything I hear about Kidman or Katie H, or just about anyone in Hollywood who doesn't do what someone powerful wishes them to do.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't this have gone through her management anyway?
ReplyDeleteDon't believe this one - she doesn't even except swag from award shows or evening talk shows.
ReplyDeleteLainey is from here, Vancouver and is well known to have major personality disorder issues. (If you're a celeb and only had 2 mins for her - she will not rest until she destroys you). She actually thinks that her and "Gwynnie" and "Cammie" can be buds. Entirely blows everything about a celeb she hates out of proportion.
I've heard some other shit talking about Lainey elsewhere online and from people who know her. Would love to know more if you care to share...
DeleteYes! Dish the dirt on Elaine! You first. I got lots too!
DeleteI keep feeling like I've read these blinds here lately before. Is Enty getting senile?
ReplyDeleteI always take Kidman rumours with a grain of Scientology.
ReplyDelete@munchkin
DeleteTee hee
Good one.
;)
True or not, charities should not pay appearance fees to celebrities, and celebrities should not demand them. Period.
ReplyDeleteTrue or not, charities should not pay appearance fees to celebrities, and celebrities should not demand them. Period.
ReplyDeleteI knew it! I remember her during the Oscar roundtable when she was promoting Rabbit Hole. She talked about the importance of time and how time is the one thing you can't get more of. I just had a feeling it was her when I read this blind.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think the blinds about her motherhood are true as well. She's constantly working, constantly snatching roles so that other actresses don't get them, constantly has a list of films in production. There is no way she can work all the time AND be such a hands-on mom who does everything. She chooses work over family.
She is a well known narcissist. Not surprised that she did that. I feel sorry for her husband.
ReplyDeleteCharging a charity $500,000 an hour seems reasonable to me.
ReplyDelete- Satan
I only give to Bikers Against Child Abuse.
ReplyDeleteIf someone on here has actually met her and has actual proof that totally contradicts the whole ice-queen-bitch rumours and this BI, why does everyone still believe them, then?
ReplyDeleteCool info, A lil bit country.
LOL at that hold your bag thing. I've seen Kidman with her bag firmly on her shoulder, no assistants in sight, just the midget husband. I don't get her taste in husbands (though I approve of the boyfriends). but no, she does manage to carry her on purse on occasion. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI've met her too in Nashville at an event for the Nashville floods. She wasn't overly friendly, but neither was I. She was very involved and didn't get paid a dime. I call BS on this one.
