This B list actress who does movies and television and other things including theatre didn't believe any of the stories about her C list celebrity boyfriend being gay. After three months together he still had not progressed beyond kissing her though and she finally called it quits. He is telling friends that she couldn't handle him and his needs.
Kristin Chenoweth/Jake Pavelka
I didn't even realize they had dated!
ReplyDeleteApparently Kristin didn't either!
Deletewho?
ReplyDeleteWow, rare to reveal a gay blind, but here it is. I guess revealing gay blinds for people nobody knows is safe. It's still outing though, which I don't like.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lila - Jake isn't out, so I think this inappropriate.
ReplyDeletewho and who??
ReplyDeleteThe old Enty had a rule not out people...
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like the gossip, go elsewhere.
ReplyDelete@chewy ...amen!
Delete@chewy ...amen!
DeleteWait, Lila, SKOR, let me be sure I understand this:
ReplyDeleteA guy can ongoingly deceive someone in an intimate relationship, and should be protected by some sort of "Gay Omertà "? He led this woman along, used her and deceived her, but if that's revealed, he's the poor, misused victim?
And, just by the way, what's up with this selective definition of the evil of "outing"?
Outing Jake Pavelka? Oh, that's evil, because he's gay.
Outing Anthony Weiner's online relationships? That's a public service!
What's the difference? Well, people get harassed for being gay! They may receive public opprobrium, and their popularity may take a hit!
None of which happened to Anthony Wiener....
So, basically, it's okay to out the private sexual behavior of people if it's private sexual behavior you disapprove of, but it's terrible, just terrible, to out the private sexual behavior of people whose sex life you don't mind?
Yeah, that's sure a valuable lesson in morality!
Tell the truth, this whole speech was so that you could use "opprobrium" again. As a lover of big words, I have to give you props for twice in one week!
DeleteTwice in 2 DAYS, even
Delete;)
Plus, he gets to push his political views. Sorry, but as a former NYer, Wiener is the worst possible candidate. However, keep it to a political blog. Not here.
DeleteI didnt read this as an "outing". I would hope Mike Fleiss did his homework
ReplyDeleteThis is not an outing. This same story has been circling since 2010 with his other exes. Google Jake Pavelka gay.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't say directly that he is gay, only that there were rumors.
ReplyDeleteAnthony Wiener's public behaviour has been photographed and he has admitted it himself. He has not been 'outed'.
ReplyDeleteA Blind Item asking which politician has been cheating on his wife isn't the same as outing because a name has not been mentioned.
Outing someone is naming names and pure speculation. We are OK when the site does not out child molesters, rapists or human traffickers....but should accept outing someone's sexual orientation.
yeah, she couldn't handle his need to sleep with men.
ReplyDeleteOUT THEM ALL! Stringing people along is not cool,
ReplyDeleteThe reason Entry gave for not outing people is that it would affect their ability to make a living as actors. Telling people that a politician plays it a bit fast and loose morally supposedly helps people decide whether the politician can serve the public properly. I don't agree that a horndog can't be a great public servant, but lots os people equate breaking marriage with dishonesty.
ReplyDeleteJake is gay? What about that chick from the bachelor who he was "So in love" with? She was too much of a basket case to be a beard. I never heard rumors that he was gay before.
ReplyDeleteSKOR, Weiner's online dalliances weren't public knowledge until someone made them public. (In the first case, his own accidental public tweet intended to be a PM, and thus fair game. In the current case, leaked to "The Dirty" by his online partner, who'd spent years making money talking dirty on line to older men in exchange for gifts and cash, then did the talk-show circuit as a poor, manipulated victim, and is now negotiating with Steve Hirsch to make her porn debut.) The first scandal, originating with Weiner's mistake, not an outing. Sydney Leathers spilling and giving pictures to "The Dirty?" That was a pure outing, and nobody seems the least bit bothered by it.
ReplyDeleteDouble standard much?
Oh, and TalksTooMuch, no it was really all about my disgust with the double standard. "Opprobrium" was just icing on the cake.
Or "opprobrium" was the "lagniappe?"
DeleteCripes JAS, do you have one of those calendars that provide you with an 'act like you are intelligent' word to use at least once a day? If so I think you can cross off at least a week with that lecture.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm sure you had a point somewhere, I am still stymied by your use of opprobrium when there are a myriad of other terms that we common folk could understand.
And here's where I remind everyone that when Enty 'outed' Kanye West a couple of months ago, nobody cared because no one likes Kanye.
ReplyDeleteI personally have nothing against outing anybody. Being gay is nothing to be ashamed of.
And audiences are increasingly willing to accept gay actors in straight roles, as Matt Bomer, Neil Patrick Harris, Jim Parsons, Jonathan Groff, etc. could testify.
The point is that Enty is on record saying he would NEVER out someone.
ReplyDeleteBacon Ranch, I can't be bothered to pitch my writing to your level of literacy. I write in English. If you need help with that, that's your problem, not mine.
ReplyDelete@nutty: I don't think being gay would affect your singing career, I mean look at all the gender swapping of the seventies. However, lots of people feel like it would be too hard to suspend disbelief about a gay move actor. All of those people you listed were mostly television actors, with the exception of Matt Bomer that my husband kept laughing at in a movie because he was playing a swinger married dude. Movie actors, you are kind of buying them, their brand, when you watch one. And most people think that actors are just playing themselves. Like Tom Hanks. Who here thinks Tom Hanks is really a giant a&&hole? I secretly hope he is some kind of a dungeon freak but I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteI am not saying someone couldn't come out and make it, I am just saying that there were a hella lotta people voting against gay marriage and there goes their ticket money.
If someone is not publicly on record saying they are gay, then it is outing him/her.
ReplyDeleteThe point is that previous Enty said he would never do that, not whether it is right or wrong.
@Talks Well, I'm a Rock Hudson fan, so I guess anti-gay movie actor prejudice isn't a big theme for me. I think Hudson's hella sexy, and I certainly won't be having sex with him anyway, so I can just watch and swoon.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I wasn't too wild about those guys in the reverse 'Blurred Lines' video. There's happily gay - Bomer, Quinto, Tab Hunter in his prime - and there's just wild, over-the-top, drag-queen effeminate.
Fine and all, but not something that gets my juices flowing.
I just enjoy great acting. Sexual orientation doesn't matter. I long for the old days when Hollywood stars had private lives. I don't need to know every detail, that is a bigger turn off than who they get their rocks off with.
DeleteEnty has that "rule," and yet the only reason I know Hayden Christenson is gay is because of Enty revealing a blind about his furniture shopping being for the house he shared with a boyfriend and not because of progression in his relationship with his (fake) girlfriend. And that was years ago. So this isn't proof of a new Enty, it's only evidence that Enty applies or breaks his own rules as he pleases.
ReplyDeleteNeedy men are such a drag. Not my thing.
ReplyDelete@nutty: I am all about one love also, but there are a lot of people out there that do.not.agree. And that could hurt an actor's or actress's career. Potentially. Or I think everyone would be out!
ReplyDeleteOn another note: Enty doesn't say Pavelka is gay, s/he just mentions the rumours.
My 2 cents.. regardless of how you spin this re: the gay thing, it's not something the original Enty EVER would have done, so it's proof positive he's long gone from this site.
ReplyDeleteIf a celebrity is just out there acting or singing or whoring him/herself out on reality shows that have nothing to do with dating, I say yeah, not cool to out them.
ReplyDeleteBut when the whole BASIS of his so-called fame has to do with "dating" women, then yeah, I think outing him is fair game.
Settle down, children. NOBODY GOT OUTED! Enty said the following:
ReplyDelete1) Kristen didn't believe gay rumors about Jake
2) Jake never did anything more than kiss her in three months
3) She's telling friends she couldn't handle his needs
NOTHING here says that Jake Pavelka is gay. Quit looking to cause trouble.
I'm just sitting here smug that at this point it's a tie;
ReplyDeleteTimes mentioned in the last few days by JAS
opprobrium : 2
Bacon Ranch: 2
I get under his skin again, opprobrium is gonna have to pound sand.
Queue someone making an account under the name 'opprobrium'
DeleteI didn't read this as Jake being outed. He's a super sized creep though. Kristen should have known better but they both seem desperate for attention.
ReplyDeleteCee Kay... you seem to think it's your place to boss people around and tell others what to think, but many of us are not in the habit of taking orders. And who the hell are you to make accusations of causing trouble for expressing an opinion?
ReplyDeleteEveryone is entitled to their opinion whether you like it or not. Unless Enty died and left you in charge, STFU.
His Bachorlette pick said that when they moved in together he never kissed her or wanted to have sex too.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I agree with Jonathan Andrew Sheen. I need to shower now.
ReplyDeleteEnty's wording isn't as clear as some apparently think, because it caused Jake's sexuality to be called into question for more than a few here, and left it an open question for them at best. Based on that, I stand by what I said - it's not something the original Enty would have written.
ReplyDeleteI'm not arguing about what Enty was trying to communicate, nor am I arguing for outing or against it (disclaimer: although I'm personally against it), Rather, I'm just saying that I'm convinced the original Enty isn't writing these anymore.
Oh, and re: the Weiner thing, he wasn't 'outed'. He was exposed for violating the public trust during an election campaign because he didn't tell the truth. That it concerned a sexual matter is beside the point.
