Blind Item #1

This B- list mostly television actress has pretty much stayed in that position for her entire career. Sometimes she moves up slightly, but she has always been consistent and has been on one television show after the other. Some hits and some misses. She told producers she would walk off the set of her current show and quit if they attempted to make her a lesbian. Acting or not, she is dead set against it and it goes against her values.

    1. +2 I read recently that on her knew show Rizzoli and ??? they asked her about he sexual undertones of the characters and a possible hook up and she pretty much blew it off like, "no way"

  3. Great guess Kristin! I was just wondering if they were going have Harmon's character "come out" on R&I (yeah, I watch it. Sue me.)

  4. Patricia Heaton? Nah she usually does shows where she plays the mom.

    1. Great guess as she is conservative and religious, however she is married on The Middle and I highly doubt they would make Frankie Heck a lesbian.

  5. Harmon just recently said a public 'YUCK!' when asked whether R & I were gonna do it. This blind could have congealed from that, for sho.

    1. @libby, sounds likely but is ridiculous to call this a blind if based on something said publicly. Not that I'm surprised with the current entries.

  6. Harmon's character is straight in the books....

  14. Why can't 2 women be friends, why do they always have to be gay! I think she is right....everybody is not gay.

  15. Im giving angie, whom i dont care for, the benefit of the doubt. I think she was referring to her character, and the yuck may have been that men think 2 women cant be so close and NOT be lesbians.

    ReplyDelete
  16. God forbid someone doesn't want to be gay.

  17. I was just googling Angie Harmon, and it says Lee Thompson Young from R&I and from the famous Jett Jackson just committed suicide...

  18. @saycheese, sadly he did. His body was found yesterday.

  19. so what? its her career she is allowed to set her boundaries.

If she chooses not to play a lesbian it is her choice

  20. I actually agree with folks on here. How come that you have tons of male "buddy" movies where two straight guys are like brothers and that is no biggie and accepted. However two straight women who are super close must secretly be lesbian ??

    ReplyDelete
  21. I agree that this could be reworded from her refusal to have Rizzoli and Isles become lesbians. Wouldn't put it past this Enty.

  22. I don't understand why there is some sort of idea in the comments that people think close female friendships are mistaken for lesbians. I think it's generally the opposite. Women are often portrayed to be close but men typically considered gay. Luckily that's changing.

  23. LOL at AH refusing to play a lesbian but having loose enough morals to suck up coke like a hoover.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Agree with @LovelyCoconuts. If my partner spent as much time with his best friend as I do with mine, I'm sure some would have questions. But sometimes you have to answer the difficult questions in a "blind".

  25. @Terri, I think you mean Courtney Thorne Smith..

  26. @wen She doesn't have to BE gay lol. You understand the difference between acting a part and real life, don't you?

    1. Yes, but an actor so invested in his or her character may have strong opinions about that character's story arc. I assume that if her character was suddenly going to join the Ku Klux Klan or run off with Edward Snowden, she would also object.

  27. Angie's a very nice person IRL and, sorry, it doesn't mean you're a homophobe if you don't want to kiss someone of the same sex - acting or not. Everyone has a right to set their boundaries. If producers want a lesbian character, there is no shortage of actresses happy to oblige, straight and gay.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hold up: If she was already on set then wouldn't she already have a particular role? And, ostensibly, wouldn't she have already known that the character was straight or gay?

Homophobes suck, but we all deserve to set boundaries about what we're comfortable doing. Hers might be silly and hateful to you and me, but it's still her right. Curious, since this is such a deal-breaker, how this wasn't already determined before she signed on for the part, though.

  29. So I won't be able to jerk of watching an actress carpet munching another one (playing a role)?
How insensitive, I guess you all straight commenters would fuck someone the same sex if your boss asked for it.

  30. Sorry, I dumped cable and don't watch R&I, but I've read the books since way back when the series first started, and both characters are heterosexual. Of course, there is very little other resemblance to the original characters, as in the "Bones" series. I love Booth & Brennan in print, but they are nothing like the characters in the TV series. I don't even know why they say either series is based on the book characters.

  31. Nutty Flavor,

Did you just compare being a lesbian with joining the KKK? Really? While I don't think that every close female duo needs to become romantically involved, fans of the show are pretty much literally only there for the chemistry of those characters (I know a few shippers and the whole reason it's still on is for the shipping). I've seen clips from the show and this particular duo does seem to have a little tension. You can watch Grey's Anatomy and see pure friendship between Meredith and Christina or another procedural drama, but you don't feel sexual chemistry there, just friendship.

  32. Angie may have been reacting to the characters being more than friends, or herself playing the role of a lesbian. It's her prerogative.

Rizzoli and Isles' relationship is good the way it is, I've read the some of the books, they're just friends. I like their friendship, and D-Day and Jett Jackson's too. It seemed comfortable, like they'd known each other for years.

Now Lee is dead which sucks. :-(

  33. I don't know, I've seen or read a few interviews with cast members or producers of "R&I" and they all seem to have a pretty good attitude toward the lesbian undertones of the show. So I don't think it's Angie Harmon.

  34. It is amazing how narrow minded some people are. And I am not talking about the actress in the blind, who has the right to set limits in her career (if she said she wouldn't do a nude scene, you'd all be applauding her). What is wrong with you people who assume that just because somebody is a Christian and/or a Republican, it means he/she is homophobic?! You obviously live in a very narrow little world if that's the way you think. You need to get out more.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Angie was a sweetie to every single person that she dealt with, at a friend's agency. They looove her. Exactly what Naught Nurse said, everyone who votes Republican isn't a religious freak, a 1%er, or a homophobe or racist. Good freaking gravy. To hear it online on blogs and such, people who don't fall in line with the approved "cool" views is a raging cartoon villan. People need to get out in the world, meet people of all kinds.

  36. Cagney and Lacey were the original lesbian television idols. Who cares one way or another? I don't think Bert and Ernie were consciously created as gay but if you think calling them gay is offensive, no matter what bullshit intellectual rationalization you offer, you have some vaguely hidden bias against homosexuality.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Angie already had to pretend to be gay in an episode of Rizzoli and Isles. She gets hit on by tons of women in a bar. Granted I don't think she was kissed by any of them but she did play gay.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's Kate Mulgrew, OITNB. Leans conservative, and with the shows content I can see her saying that

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with Chief2224. The R&I cast is cool with the lesbian undertones of the show. If you see interviews with Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander you would see that. Both actresses play towards the subtext. If Harmon had a problem she wouldn't be doing that.

This BI sounds more like Laura Prepon. She's a Scientologist and she won't be appearing anymore on OITNB.

  40. Anonymous3:06 AM

I agree with others that say that this isn't Angie Harmon. She purposefully plays with the subtext on the show with Sasha Alexander. I remember a while ago somebody tweeted her and told her that she isn't capable of playing gay and she tweeted back, "You wish". She could have just ignored that if she is so against it.

I'm going with Kate Mulgrew or Laura Prepon from OITNB. I can see either one of them saying that considering the shows content.

  41. I agree with others that say this isn't Angie Harmon. She's been having too much fun playing around with the subtext with Sasha Alexander for the past 3 years. If she had a problem with the lesbian undertones she wouldn't be doing that.

I'm going with one of the OITNB actresses.

    ReplyDelete
  42. No, definitely not Angie Harmon. If you see their interviews or the bloopers you can see that she has no problem playing with the lesbian undertones. I don't think she would be doing that if it made her uncomfortable. And she definitely wouldn't be playing her character so butch, either.

Maybe one of the OITNB actresses.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This BI is Laura Prepon. She has had hits and misses on tv and she has left Orange Is The New Black.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I once had a girl crush on Angie Harmon way back. I guess my lifelong revulsion of conservative men doesn't translate to women.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Everybody is so off. This BI is about Mariska Hargitay. She's been trying for years to get rid of Olivia Bensons butch side. Harmon plays her character very butch and doesn't have a problem with the lesbian undertones. Hargitay OTOH always had a problem. And Hargitay has the clout to tell the producers what she wants after all these years.

  46. @eris hilton the article from the Daily News you linked to was a lie and has been called out. Go read Angie's interview in More magazine. She said nothing of the kind.

    ReplyDelete
  47. This isn't about Angie Harmon. R&I was never going with the lesbian angle.

This is about Kate Mulgrew. She was dead set against any lesbian subtext when she played Captain Janeway and she is still against it. She leans conservative and is against any lebian storylines for her character on OITNB.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yup, I agree that this is Kate Mulgrew. She wanted the subtext toned down when she played Captain Janeway. Harmon plays up to the subtext.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Kate Mulgrew FTW. Like others said, she leans conservative and she is the reason that the subtext was toned back from Star Trek Voyager. That turned me off of her and the show. Angie Harmon seems to enjoy the subtext on her show.
