Blind Item #10

This actress is B- list if you are into cable television and C+ if you just remember her big big budget bomb that still spawned sequels, just not with her. One of her A list co-stars on that big budget flop is married. Our actress says she spent the night with him the night before his wedding when his bride to be thought it best they spend the night apart.

  1. Wow. I would not have that that would be a stumper:

    - Big Budget Bomb.

    - Sequels -- not featuring at least one actress.

    - That actress now doing pretty well on cable.

    That said, I've got nothin'.

  2. Samantha Mathis.
    Movie: Atlas

  3. @ian - Atlas wasn't big budget. Cloud Atlas was big budget - but I can't think of a cable actress from that movie.

This could be Clare Danes who did a Terminator movie 10 years ago - but that movie made money. Kate Bosworth did a Superman but she's not on cable either.

    Lena Heady? Emmy Rossum?

Not being able to figure this blind blows.

  5. This is going to drive me nuts! If we all work together, maybe we can get it! Here's TV Line's Cable Renewal Scorecard. Going to see if anything pops out at me!

  7. Please don't be Rachelle from Under the Dome. She was in Twilight and New moon, not Eclipse though.

  8. Laurie Holden- she was in Fantasic Four and on The Sheild and Walking Dead

  9. These are the biggest bombs, but I'm not drawing up any memorable sequels for them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_box_office_bombs

Bring It On was low-budget, with it really boosting more careers than capitalizing on big stars.

The first Atlas movie had a budget of only 20 million and no major stars - I refuse to read that book, but I'm assuming there wasn't CGI, etc. that something like the Lone Ranger had that propelled costs.

  11. I am trying to make January Jones and her X men movie fit. According to wiki it wasnt a flop, but from what i remember it wasnt well received :o

There are some that are CLOSE, like Tara Reid, Van Wilder, and Ryan Reynolds. Another might be Amy Smart (she's on Shameless and Robot Chicken), the bomb would be The Butterfly Effect (2 sequels) and Ashton Kutcher. Nothing quite fits, though.

  13. I know! I've "notted" a bunch that I chased down from the cable link. The clue says "sequels," so I'm thinking it has to have at least two sequels, right? I think the piece that's making it impossible to solve is that we don't know the timeline. It says they slept together the night before he got married. But when did he get married? Is this a recent item about old co-stars that hooked up, say, last month before he got married? Or is this an old item about co-stars that slept together during the production of their movie, and the actor got married during production?

  14. Laurie Holden aka Andrea on the Walking Dead with Sean Bean. Silent hill for the movie. I'm grasping at straws here.

  17. Kristy Swanson from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie and assorted cable tv shows since?

  18. What about Rose Byrne? Was in Damages and the flop could be Star Wars Episode II with the third sequel and the next three to come? Other than that I've got nothing.

  19. Laurie Holden's bombs didn't have sequels though, right? Maybe someone else from that show.

  20. Rachelle would be a good guess, but Under the Dome is on ABC isn't it?

  21. Channing Tatum in GI Joe, with maybe SyFy actress Rachel Nichols?

  22. @KP:
Rachel Nichols is a good guess! She was in several bombs and was on Criminal Minds for a while (glad she left, her char was MEHH)

  24. The first Twilight didn't bomb tho. G. I joe Didn't bomb either and it only spawn 1 sequel. It said sequels so its more than 1 but that's good guess.

What movie bombs and has sequels? What kind sequel we are talking about? Are they Straight to dvd sequels?

  25. The actress Taylor Schilling from the first Atlas Shrugged movie stars in Orange is the New Black, although that's Netflix, not cable.

  26. I think big budget bomb must have been a relative term. Maybe it didn't make quite as much as projected so some consider it a bomb- otherwise no sequels. Also- maybe not a direct sequel just some spinoffs.

  27. Big budget bombs that still had sequels - rare, no? Ok. SF movies tend to have big budgets, and still have sequels. Huge SF bombs with sequels, that starred one person who didn't return. The first Superman remake had Parker Posey in it, and spawned a remake...Green Lantern will get a sequel in the sense of the other DC movies featuring the character, and Reynolds got married after it wrapped I think. The only bombs with sequels I can think of are DC/Marvel movies at the moment.

  28. I'm still trying to make "Osmosis Jones" fit. It's a 2001 film that had Brandy Norwood (as an actress, she's B-/C+) and Laurence Fishburne (A list actor). Fishburne got married to Gina Torres within a year of the movie's release.

Osmosis Jones returned $14M and cost $70M to make.

But Osmosis Jones didn't spawn any movie sequels, just a 2-year cartoon series.

  29. I'm going with kristanna loken who was in bloodrayne which bombed. It had 25 mil budget but made 3 mil.

Bloodrayne had 2 sequels. None of which starred loken.

She's done burn notice and key and peele in the last year or so. That's cable.

Her A list co star: Sir Ben Kingsley.

He married in 2003 and divorced in 2005. Same year Bloodrayne bombed in the theater. He also married again in 2007.

Its gross but that's my guess.

  30. I think that one time she couldn't resist sir Ben

  32. Natasha Henstridge in Species? They made like 5 of those, I think she's only in the first (maybe 2nd). If not... someone from the Poison Ivy movies?

    1. Who was in species with henstridge? Sir Ben, that's who! Someone banged sir Ben and I'm going to prove it.
