Amanda Bynes Gets Another Week In The Hospital

Amanda Bynes tried her best to get a judge to cut short her two week extended vacation at the hospital, but the judge decided to go along with the doctors' advice for now and keep Amanda locked up against her will awhile longer. The doctors say they don't think Amanda will remember to take her meds. I think that is probably a true statement. The doctors also say that Amanda has not admitted she has a mental illness. I think Amanda is smart enough to say she has one, whether she believes it or not if she thinks it will get her out of the forced hospital stay. I think she was probably saving that card to play in case this release request did not go as planned. I bet she admits it this week. She wants out and she does not want her parents in control, She is making nicey nice right now so they will drop the bid for conservatorship. If they go through with it, I bet Amanda never speaks to them again. Ever. Like not go to funerals ever.

That's the hottest selfie I've seen since I threw up a kebab on my own face and posted it to Facebook. Give me time to rub one out.

  2. I just felt a surge of self-esteem after seeing that picture. And I've got 20+ years on this chic.

  3. I think the best thing her "people" can do is create a nice video, maybe set it to some of Drake's music, which highlights every single ridiculous thing she has said and done over the past several months. The people in that hospital then need to strap her to a chair in a darkened room (think "A Clockwork Orange") when she is at her most lucid and force her to watch it over and over until she finally gets it.

Either that, or they can just get her a shopping cart and a tin foil hat and let her loose on the streets muttering to herself, because that's where she's headed if she doesn't stick around and get some help.

  5. No chapter of this pitiful stunt has been worth the effort of either the actress or the onlookers. For me, the worth part of it all was the outfits. The script had some good lines, but they were drowned out by the bad ones. It's been a sad ride.

If she's faking then she's a horrible person. Schizophrenia is something like the third cause of disability in the world and to fake it is a kick in the face to those who live with it and the people who support them.

That said, if she is sick then I totally get it. I have bipolar 1 and it took four hospitalizations and a year of being almost completely stable on my current meds before I could be like, "Ya, ok, this is working so I'll have to accept this." When reports have said that the medication is working, I really doubt that because that shit takes time to work. I'd bet that being in a stable environment with regular food and routine (and no goddamn pot) has helped her to a point. Plus you meet really interesting, intelligent, talented people in the psych ward and I'm not even joking.

    1. @aliciabutterfly, I'm glad you've found the right balance in your bipolar treatment. I really hope Amanda can come to the same healthy balance that you did.

    2. I also agree with the view that you meet some really interesting, intelligent and talented people in the psych ward. Very few of the people who end up there are the TV version of mental patients.

Alicia: in all seriousness (dusts off DMSIV) scizophrenia isn't a laughing matter and there's a whole spectrum of clinical indicators that don't involve your TV telling you that you're reincarnate soul of Stu Sutcliffe. I think she is genuinely ill.

  9. That BBC makes young white betches crazy. Her only hope is sexual methadone. A nice white dick, that won't get her high, but will take the edge off the withdrawals. I'll help her out if her insurance will cover my fees.

  10. I don't think it's unusual for someone with Bipolar to not admit they are ill. It takes time. My cousin was diagnosed with BiPolar Disorder 16 years ago but he's till struggles, especially when he feels good. He starts thinking he's not really sick and the meds are unnecessary, sometimes it even goes so far as to accuse us of trying to make him sick by insisting that he take his meds. I feel like he is afraid most of the time. I'm sorry she has to deal with that.

  11. @BarberLady: I thought they tabbed Bynes as Schizo?

  12. I think the proper diagnosis of Amanda Bynes would require more evidence.

  13. Barton, I have to disagree. None of us know exactly what is happening in that hospital. There are many psychologist there, more apt to pick up on someone crying for attention by faking a mental illness.

  14. @CountJerkula and @BarberLady: I think schizophrenia is what the tabs have been saying. Either way the two have a lot of symptom overlap and the genetic aspect of the disorders may originate in the same part of the brain. There's not a lot that's known for sure about mental illness. I can't imagine we make for the best research subjects...

Personally I've had some EPIC psychotic episodes.

Psychotic episodes are just that, whether drug induced or otherwise. Only psychiatrists or clinical psychologists can diagnose a mental health condition.

    2. right, Rach (I hardly read the site anymore ut you are cracking me up!!!). however schizophrenia is neurologically based. the pyschosis is a side effect/symptom of the brain being screwy.

  17. I feel bad for her, must be terrifying to be locked up in their against her will but I don't she will continue her meds once she gets out especially if they make her gain weight which those kinds of meds tend to do.

  18. When she was admitted to the hospital, she had co-occurring things going on, she had been self medicating with drugs and she has a mental illness--so the longer she is there the better she will feel. Many people with schizophrenia, (if that is her diagnosis) have no real insight into their illness, which is why they often don't seek help or refuse to take meds. I am a mental health clinician and see a lot of that.

  19. @CountJerkula:
I get that being a jerk is your 'thing,' but had started thinking you might be an OK person after all.

But the ignorance is more than merely crass: methadone can be a relatively swift & effective treatment for dope addicts (most of whom are self-medicating w/opiates for depression).

Amanda Bynes does not show signs of depression--or opiate use--& is obviously suffering from a much more frightening mental illness, like schitz. Her case is tragic, & would not be surprising if she needs years of meds & psych treatment.

i.e., I have a fairly gross sense of humor myself, but did not find your remark to be at all amusing.
