If you went through your house right now could you find a pencil? After an hour of searching throughout the entire house, my mom found one pencil. Not sharpened. No pencil sharpener.
Does a mechanical pencil with refills count? I am an artist, so I always have a pencil. I wouldn't be able to stand it if I was ready to start a drawing or painting and I didn't have a pencil. Gotta have it.
Yup - I have kids, the oldest of which is an artist, and work in elementary ed - we've got pencils for days. If you want to make a million dollars, sell smencils. They're these smelly pencils that we sell at school as a fundraiser. Those little dudes can't get enough smencils! It's weird and cute at the same time :-).
@Stacey Charter Pens that never work that you never throw out are like the small pieces of paper with phone numbers but without names. Oh wait, I'm the only one who has them? Uhmm, okay.
Yes. If one is not handy in the kitchen I can go to the school supply closet for my "stockpile" of school basics. Got to buy em on the cheap during the back to school sales.
I don't usually write with a pencil, I do have a little desktop drawer with my pens. I do have a white and a blue marking pencil, sharpened, for marking when I sew and quilt if that counts--it is in my sewing room--there is a drawer for marking supplies and equipment.
I am drowning in writing supplies. Drowning in them. Helps that I have somewhat a thing for buying pens. Normal women buy too many shoes and handbags, I buy too many pens. (Feel free to judge me).
Regular pencils, colored pencils, mechanical pencils, one big boy regular turn the handle pencil sharpener and several little ones. I'm also a pen junkie, all mine work. I love real ink pens, but my second choice is gel pens, smooth writing, and if you should write a check (who does that?) it can't be washed and forged.
hahaha @trainrides - sticky notes with w/ various info on them - but sadly I am unable to find them when needed. @librariantobe - pen junkie here too. Get way too happy and klepto when I use a good one... Lock yo doors-Hide yo pens
I bought back to school supplies this week. so we are well stocked on pencils. but for some reason, half way through the school year all I can ever find is broken ones.
Ha, yesterday I found a pencil! It was new, sharp, and had an unused eraser. Score!
I love pencils, and I have millions of mechanical (and regular) ones all over the house. The other day I found one of my old Scripto pencils, the kind you twist, and got to thinking about how great those are. When the back-to-school sales start, I'm gonna buy way too many!
Yes a ton with kids!
ReplyDeleteSame here @sinkabella!
ReplyDeleteAll art pencils. I love pencils.

ReplyDeleteYes, although I rarely use them. I love dermatographs more.
Deleteno pencils - but a shitload of pens, half of which do not work. Not sure why I never throw them out...

ReplyDeleteI've only got mechanical pencils here.
ReplyDelete@MelanieH - I had a friend in high school who was completely ocd about ONLY using ticonderoga pencils, so apparently you're not alone.
I love pencils; I take notes and write messages at work with them.
ReplyDeleteUh, no. Washable markers & a shit ton of crayons & chalk.
ReplyDeleteMusician here. Always have mechanical pencils around, never a wood one though.
ReplyDeletehell yea. I have a child
ReplyDeleteI have one right here. They are useful to write important and immediate things once and again in the same notebook.
ReplyDeleteArtist household with children. Pencils everywhere.

ReplyDeletePencil? No.
ReplyDeletePens out the wazoo though.
Absolutely. 2 kids and myself go to school. They're everywhere! I discovered Ticonderogas last semester. Love them for math!
ReplyDeleteI have five mechanical pencils next to my computer keyboard.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big Ticonderoga fan too...they make cool black and chrome versions (and a nice "green" version too) that I'm hooked on lately.
ReplyDeleteI prefer pencils to pens. Very sharp and used until they can't be sharpened anymore.
Yes. But you can also sharpen a pencil with a knife. Whittle it
ReplyDeleteYes i could find a pencil. But not in great shape, lol
ReplyDeleteA lawyer who doesn't have a pencil in the house? I don't think I want him working on my briefs.
ReplyDeleteMy husband draws, we have a lot of pencils. I use pens. I collect them. Obsessively.
ReplyDeleteNot one single pencil in an attorney's house. Frightening.
ReplyDeleteMany pencils, all kinds. Colors, markers, colored pencils....engineer, no kids and I love to color...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I've got a stash next to the 'puter and next to the bed. Mechanical pencils. No sharpener needed. Yes, I'm a little anal.
ReplyDeleteI bought back to school supplies this week. so we are well stocked on pencils. but for some reason, half way through the school year all I can ever find is broken ones.
ReplyDeleteI'm an artist so I have all sorts of pencils with different graphite hardness. Don't think I could find a regular old #2 pencil though.
ReplyDeleteHa, yesterday I found a pencil! It was new, sharp, and had an unused eraser. Score!
