Virginia Tech Mascot Thinks Nirvana Still Together- Kurt Cobain Alive
Apparently news is slow to travel to the campus of Virginia Tech. I guess the mascot of the football team could also be a closet fan of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam and was just was oblivious to anything else from the Seattle area going on in the 90's. I am trying to be generous and offering an explanation as to why no one has taught the students at Virginia Tech about this thing called Google. Anyway, as part of the homecoming festivities, the mascot sent out letters to various bands and celebrities and asked them to record videos. The mascot sent one to Nirvana. Yep. Apparently they thought Kurt Cobain and the gang could record a happy homecoming message for all the Hokies fans out there. Nirvana's old label, SubPop just had to share this letter with the world. Now, I am sharing it with you, and three famous NFL players.

ReplyDeleteLOL Topper! Totally makes sense!
ReplyDeleteCute bunny stationary.
ReplyDelete"we'd love to have HER in our video"
@goes in circles. Yeah, I caught that, too. Apparently, they're confusing Nirvana with Madonna.
DeleteA form letter probably sent to 100 places.. Forgot to remove the "her" in there...
ReplyDeleteAre you talking about the same University that had the mass killings a few years ago?
ReplyDeleteSeems like that person isn't the only one who needs to do their research.
To be fair, the surviving members of Nirvana have been performing lately -- most recently joining Paul McCartney on stage here in Seattle just last week.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, total form letter fail.
Maybe he meant to send it to the Foo Fighters and mistyped :)
ReplyDeletepathetic
ReplyDeleteI deleted my comment earlier by mistake, but basically, I said since the letter referred to "her" that they really meant "Rihanna."
ReplyDeleteDamn you autocorrect!
what really makes it is the kissing bunny family and pink flowers.....
ReplyDeleteMaybe he doesn't know who Nirvana is? It's been 19 years since Nirvana ended. This kid probably wasn't even born yet.
ReplyDeleteEven funnier: Sub Pop's reply!
ReplyDeleteIN VIDEO FORM
I think another university played a prank on Virgina Tech...
ReplyDeleteKurt is in Nirvana now - probably. So that must be what he meant.
ReplyDeletehaha, maybe
DeleteMaybe this is some misguided foreign exchanged student trying to be all cutting edge. FAIL.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't even need to look to know that this is all over Gawker.
Reminds me of the stupid fan letter I wrote to a member of Bread long after they'd broken up. In all fairness there was no Google back then!
ReplyDeleteI wonder how horrified Kurt Cobain would have been if his label had ever asked him to record a video that said "Let's go Hokies!"
ReplyDeleteapparently news is slow to travel to this blogger as this was all over the internet last week.
