Leah Remini And Scientology

It has been a few weeks now since Leah Remini announced she had broken away from Scientology. The thing is, her public announcement was only a few weeks ago, but it has been much longer since she left. I know she thanked her fans for their support in her decision to lave, but I have to say that I have been really disappointed in the actions of Leah since she made her announcement. She has let her sister handle all the public fighting and let her sister take the brunt of the criticism for other celebrity Scientologists. What I would like from Leah is her out front and center telling the world what a horrible place Scientology is and how it wrecked her life and how it wrecks the lives of so many others and what she saw when she was out fundraising and speaking for the church and telling everyone how wonderful it was. For three decades she has been telling the world how wonderful the place is and when she leaves she does not say anything. I know she and Tony Ortega are working on a book, but I think she owes it to everyone to speak up against as much as she spoke up for. She has never been silent when asked in the past about how much she loved the place, so I would like to see that same attitude when it comes to speaking out against it. If she speaks, lives can be changed. Maybe it will keep one person out of those buildings. She needs to use her daily national platform and hammer Scientology. The fact that she does not and does not even mention it, really bothers me.

  1. All in good time. Maybe she can't say anything just yet for oh, I don't know, safety reasons?

  2. I think it's incredible that her entire family left CoS with her. I'm sure she will talk in time.

  3. She left the cult, and frankly doesnt owe anyone anymore than that. If shes writing a book, thats where the inside info will be. Stop and think: who knows how far cos tentacles reach? She may have people to protect. She may feel like a damn fool and not feel like hitting talk show circuit to say over and over how stupid she was. Would you like that? Cut her some slack, shes been intwined in this pseudo church since she was a kid.

    1. @Auntliddy, agreed. And her sister has been out for years. I think she may need more time to process things and realize exactly how indoctrinated she was. Like so: http://www.lermanet.com/cos/8steps.html

I'm still hoping the "independent" Scientologists wake up.

  4. I'm guessing the silence is going to give the book and subsequent public speaking that much more of a punch. Be patient.

  5. I'm with you @reno. But she also doesn't own us an explanation. I don't see Enty harping on Lisa Marie for not speaking up.

  6. Her life, her decision. I'm sure her life hasn't been easy since her departure. The scientologists were ruthless to Katie Holmes even though she was being followed by paps 24/7... Imagine what Leah is having to deal with. Just glad she's out and that her family left with her.

  7. Ever think about her safety, Enty?

    1. Why does Enty seem to insist that Scientology is a place? Anyone else notice that?

  8. I'll cut her some slack on this. If she's working with Ortega then you can bet all the good stuff will come out in due time.

  9. @Kels: my thoughts exactly.
Wondering what the repercussions against her career will be for leaving.

  10. Give her some time. Leaving Scientology is very complicated, especially when you have a career they can ruin and friends and family that disown you.

I always liked this site because it was different than Perez Hilton but it's turning in to that with nasty comments about everyone you post about.

  11. @ Rose - Agreed with your entire statement, especially with Perez Hilton comment. Its true. The real Enty would know the intricacy of leaving CoS and not be snarky about it.

  12. Remini's exact words to People magazine, as reported this morning by E:

"It wouldn't matter what it was, simply no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to."

That also includes you, Entity. She'll talk when she's ready.

  13. Yeah, wtf? She doesn't owe anyone an explanation. If she eventually decides to talk, she will. As for her sister, I'm guessing that is her sister's choice, too.

  14. I know, this site is so judgmental these days! She's done a big thing already, leave her be.

  15. As well as all the valid reasons listed above, here's something else to thing about.

When you break up with someone, your heart is very heavy, and it often takes a while before you can speak about it. Considering she's been in Co$ since childhood, and this is all she knew, well, cut her some slack. She's probably just trying to find her bearings right now.

  17. So, you expect her to just line up to admit that the last three decades of her life were not only a huge waste of time and energy, but helped perpetrate a fraud on thousands of people who lost millions of dollars, family and friends? Scientology has killed. I completely understand her reluctance to come forward immediately.

  18. I agree with a lot of the posters here. She was in for a long time. And I am sure she is concerned for her remaining relationships as well as for her safety.

  19. Well ENTY you are disappointed because she chose to 'lave'.

I can't even begin to imagine what the past tense of lave is?

  20. You will hear more I am thinking......give it some time. She has never been a "quiet" girl!

  21. Leave Carrie Heffernan alone. It took a lot for her to leave CoS. She'll talk if & when she's ready.

  24. I know that if I went on and on about how great something is then I would feel embarrassed to say otherwise, I would be keeping my mouth shut... Oh yeah and fuck Scientology

  25. It's her business...

  26. Somebody give this Enty an enema so it/she/he can get the burr out of its/her/his' ass!!! It/she/he has been downright hateful lately.
BTW, why not demand Nicole Kidman talk? She entered Scientology as an adult, unlike Leah who grew up in it thanks to her mom. Her kids by TC are grown now and she, if you ask me, has no excuse to remain quiet. With Leah, they may threaten her mother, who was very high up in it, so I can understamd her being cautious. Nicole Kidman has no excuse.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't think Nicole really ever became one @scratchy. When her and Tom were together she got him to disengage from it almost completely until their divorce. That's when he went back in full force.

  28. Ent...she's been 'audited'. They know ALL her dirty little secrets and she isn't about to jeopardize any of that leaking out by going up against them publicly.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Fuck you, Enty.
    Just fuck you.

  30. @Megley, I was thinking the same thing. Thank you for saying it. Enty needs to get a grip, or at least a new job for the summer. This whole 'trash everyone and everything while I'm on a summer internship' is getting really fucking old.

I need a new site to visit. Suggestions?

    1. @silly girl: Dlisted. No question. I mean, people get trashed, but in such a clever and hilarious way, it's nothing but smiles!

And YEAH. This woman wrote a Knowledge Report on David Miscavige! How much braver do you want her to be? She's speaking out through her family and now on her own at her own pace. I'd like to see anyone criticizing her to get out of a cult after 37 years and see how quickly they deprogram.

  31. What is up this Enty's butt? She came out very publicly with her criticism of the COS, obviously, or we wouldn't be talking about it! Plus, there is an article in People or one of those other magazines about her experience, why she and her family left, etc. etc. She seems like a good person trying to do the right thing for herself and her family. Good for her. She could just sit back and write anonymous gossip blinds about the horrible things she has seen over the years in the church and wait for somebody else to have the balls to speak publicly!

  32. Whoever wrote this post needs to unclench and put aside their self-righteousness for a minute. Because you're not helping your anti-Scientology cause. This woman was in a cult for years. She's getting her bearings and also is not obligated to talk to anyone about it. (And I just saw that she has not stayed silent and has talked about it so the facts overtaking your fiction.)

I think Scientology is batshit crazy but I don't feel punitive toward its adherents and especially not its former adherents. This is the same thing that bugs me about atheists; that they're frequently even more sanctimonious and hateful than the religious. Mirror mirror.

  33. Leah made some pretty big bank on KoQ and I'll bet she's kicking herself in the ass that she handed over all that money to the Co$.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It really sounds like they've made her life miserable for the past few years and I suspect she is bracing for the possible onslaught of crap they will try to throw at her.

I don't think it's her job to fix this mess--she got out with her family at what sounds like a great cost--she lost a lot of people in her life from what I've read.

However she chooses to move forward is ok with me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

It's laughable that you want to point at other people and say THEY owe explanations to ANYONE, "Enty."

    ReplyDelete
  36. So many people have already pointed out the obviously unfairness of this post, I'm not sure I need to add anything.

Leah's been in a brainwashing cult for most of her life. Give her an opportunity to find her footing and move forward. The only timetable she needs to stick is her own.

That being said, what do you mean working on a book with Tony Ortega? Has Leah been his secret celebrity insider all this time? *dashing off to read everything Tony's written since the TomKat wedding in search of SEKRET KLUS*

  37. I am convinced the "new Enty" is a 13-year-old girl.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am convinced the "new Enty" is Perez - all we need now are the pictures with drawings of dicks and sperm all over them... goodness, do you remember those times?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah, she doesn't owe any explanations. Maybe she just wants to enjoy some time being free. I'm glad she made the decision to lave/wash.

Defs feeling this site is going the way of Perez. And I stopped reading Perez YEARS ago because I disliked his style.

  40. It's like a divorce in a way, leaving your faith, after so many years. It has to hurt no matter that she's pissed at them. So, maybe she's getting her feet back under her and soon she will come out fighting, but will hopefully do it with style so she can make Kirsti and the rest look even nuttier.

  41. It's hard enough leaving a cult without bringing the wrath of its members on your head - especially if that cult is Scientology. I think she's smart to lay low and bide her time. There should be more and more defections and soon people who've left won't be so leery of speaking out. As it is, it's amazing she got out. I respect that a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Very refreshing to see so many of you stick up for what's right in today's world. Knocking another when they are down is never a good move.
Sure, it's hypocritical for us to say on a gossip site. But this is different, just as January Jones was a different type of pain. No one should ever relish in pain that others inflict on an innocent person.
However, it's fair game when someone is a pain in the ass or a complete asshole and gets knocked down a few pegs. Or they play with fire time and time again expecting not to get burned.
A great example, look at RDJ now, who are his biggest supporters and fan base? Those that were bagging on him when he was at his lowest point and not utilizing his God given talents. He's a genius! He's back and we are so damn happy about that!

Thus, it's kind of okay to partake in a gossip site, as long as it's done with a grain of salt and a lot of good humor.

  43. Jesus christ, the enties are such bitches. She just got out.

I agree that she did a lot of damage with all the pro-CO$ publicity she was involved with over the years (especially since at the time she was defending the church on Scientology & Me she was writing up COB), she needs times to get her shit straight, to breathe, to heal.

She was asking where Shelly was before any of us were. She was treated horribly by the CO$ and she will talk when she's ready and able.
