60 Minutes Australia had Hugh Jackman and his wife sit down for an interview that aired this weekend and in it, once again, Hugh Jackman swears he is not gay. Jackman, who has been married to his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness for 17 years says that if he was gay he would be gay and his wife says the same thing. The couple, who got married when Hugh was 27 and Deborra was 40 says it is frustrating and Deborra says the rumors are stupid and offensive. Hugh says he does not really care but that his wife gets upset, probably because everyone thinks she is married to a gay man. She assures the world in the interview that Hugh is not gay and if she had some more Jada Pinkett Smith in her she probably would have had sex with him right there during the interview.

ReplyDeleteI know the rumor is out there, but I can tell you for a fact (and yes someone will probably oppose this) that he is NOT gay. My friend (who is 100% gay) used to work on "Boy From Oz" with Hugh Jackman. He told me he was so in love/lust with Hugh, as a lot of the people on set were. He was telling me that he was also the nicest, most normal and down to earth person. The gay rumors started going around, and Hugh used to just laugh it off. Hugh always said, I know I'm straight, what do I care what rumors go around. I'm happy with my life. My friend told me that he used to jokingly hit on Hugh, and Hugh always very kindly declined saying "sorry...not into men and I love my wife." My friend even let me listen to a voicemail that Hugh left him one time...his voice was so hot.

Wife is older and not conventionally hot, surely a stone cold fox like Hugh who could have any woman in the world (me right now, you bet) could "do better" than that, so she must be bearding.
Plus, that guy who lives with them (business partner, I think) MUST be his boy.

It was WAY back when, but the agism was exactly the same. That is---'a man can't love a woman a few years older. He must be gay.'
I remember the Pierce talk when he was the next it boy. He absolutely adored his wife and was completely devastated when she died.

But the fact is, if Hugh WAS really gay, ALOT of people would care enough not to buy tickets to his movies or plays. If you think I am lying all you have to do is look at the box office numbers. Any openly gay guys on that list? Didn't think so.

I really object to this type of post, regardless of how many times they deny it still the rumors persist I don't think anyone haas the right to intrude on someone's personal life to the extent they feel they have to do this type of interview in response. Gay people have fought for decades to keep nosey intrusive people (and the Government) out of the bedroom MYOB FFS everyone has the right to keep their intimate lives private regardless of sexual orientation!

Hugh story: a friend of mine kind of stalked him, not in a creepy threatening way. She just loves his performing so much that she flew from Chicago to NYC to see The Boy from Oz something like 40 times. She'd always get seats in the front row, sitting alone, and it got to the point where he actually recognized her, because he'd do these question and answer sessions with the audience afterwards. He found out it was her birthday (somehow) and sang to her from stage, so now she can die happy.

I'm an Aussie and when the episode of the police procedural show came out where Debra and Hugh first met. You could feel the sexual tension coming through the screen. She was the lead and he was a young, just starting out actor and I remember an interview/interrogation scene that I needed to go have a cold shower after. I still don't know if the sexual tension was in the script or not but man you could see how much those 2 wanted each other. Kind of glad they are still together after all this time.

ReplyDeleteYes, I do find it interesting that no one mentions Pierce Brosnan's wife who, I think, was 15 years older than him because she lived up to society's vision of beauty. Hugh and Deborah, to me, make a stunning couple because they adore each other. I personally can't have kids so what, that makes my husband automatically gay?? The fact that they adopted is wonderful and 2 very lucky children get to have an extraordinary life because of it!

It's insulting as all hell to her ("oh, the only reason he's with her is because he needs a beard"), which I admit grates on me, seeing as I'm an older, not-conventionally-attractive woman myself; also, it completely ignores that (a) physical appearance isn't everything, and (b) you really can't explain romantic/sexual chemistry; it just IS. If I had a dollar for everyone I've ever heard say about their spouse "you know, they weren't my usual type, but there was just something about them"...well, I wouldn't be in the financial pickle I'm right now (no thanks to being out of work for 6 months), believe me. The fact that he doesn't seem to get excessively bent about the rumors, but is mainly bothered because it upsets his wife (unlike others we all know about) also leads me to believe he's telling the truth when he says he's straight.

I think she's very hot. She's a beautiful, sexy, stunning older woman, who Gasp ! pearl clutch! is twenty pounds over weight. If he's straight and they're happy, good for them. I don't buy it. Say he's not gay all you want, do interviews every five seconds, rail and cry that it's so hurtful and unfair. BUT, he gives off a kind, sweet, feminine, caring, interior decorating, apron wearing, sweater knitting, cuddling by the fire with steaming hot cocoa (with a man), cupcake baking, man smooching, domestic partnership having, vacationing in Maine to see the foliage change, Will and Grace loving, well groomed, well dressed, well mannered, well controlled closeted beautiful sexy, gay man.
