It is like Remington Steele or Moonlighting, but in a sitcom. These two stars of a hit network comedy can't stand each other. They always are competing for more lines and the male half of the show is really upset at the special treatment his female co-star gets because of her burgeoning career. He would love to see the couple get divorced on the show so he could have it all to himself. He actually said he would love to see her character leave the show in other ways, but they are not very sitcom friendly so would settle for the divorce.
Billy Gardell/Melissa McCarthy
As if anyone would actually watch that show if Melissa left. LOL. Okay, buddy. He should be thanking his lucky stars he has that gig.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't pick him out of a line up but I know who SHE is.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the shoe but I'm pretty sure MM is theism draw. Please lambast me appropriately if I'm incorrect.
ReplyDelete*show
ReplyDeleteYeah, whats his problem? Suck it up, count money and blessings, and ride that sitcom dough into land of richness.
ReplyDelete"Theism draw"? Totally chuckling. Gotta love the oh-so-helpful autocorrect.
ReplyDeleteWow...I give it a year before this guy is watching his show's reruns from his couch WISHING Melissa wouldn't have left the show, which we all know she will.
ReplyDeleteWe watch the show pretty regularly and her character and character's family are what make it funny.
ReplyDeleteI can see where he's coming from (they've both been in the business for ages without getting much notice), but now is her time to shine. Melissa McCarthy has to take advantage of the accolades while she can, because Hollywood is just fickle enough to forget her by next month. There are plenty of actors who would love to have the career Billy Gardell has had. He should be thankful that he's worked steadily over the past several years.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that all the lines about being fat are directed at him and not at her. They seem to have dumbed his character down. The show isn't funny any longer and I no longer remember to watch it. It seems pretty mean-spirited. Yeah, with Chuck Lorre involved, what else is new?
ReplyDeleteThe problem is, this will doom the show. And Billy's star's not rising like Melissa's, so he should make nice.
ReplyDeleteWe watch the show sporadically...I think MM is MUCH funnier in movies, but it's probably because the writing is better (sometimes). It's hit and miss.
ReplyDeleteWe also watch just to gawk at Swoozie Kurtz, and how teeny she's gotten. Her little stick legs look like they can barely support her implants. :/
I remember reading the guesses for this blind and hoping it wasn't them! They both seem really cool in separate interviews, and I've heard him really compliment her when it was brought up by him & completely unnecessary. And what great actors they both are - you would never guess this while watching the show.
ReplyDeleteMen.
ReplyDeleteI hope Mellissa loses weight, I saw a picture of her on a movie set and she had gotten much heavier, she looks better many years ago.
ReplyDeleteThis show tanks without Melissa Mc Carthy. If anyone gets written out, it will be him.
ReplyDeleteHim?
ReplyDeletesound like sour grapes on billy part...melissa is a bigger deal than he is and need to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteI think Melissa is overrated. I couldn't stand her character on Gilmore Girls (guilty pleasure show of mine).
ReplyDeleteThat's why they call it "acting."
ReplyDeleteI knew it was them. McCarthy should leave that stupid sitcom ASAP. She doesn't need it at all. And newsflash to Gardell: if McCarthy goes, so does the series, so thank your gods that she's still on it.
She's the only reason I'll very, very, very rarely watch that show. If she left then the show would just be called "Mike" and I don't think anybody wants to see that.
ReplyDeleteI love Carl and his grandmama. And Molly's stoned sister. They're funnier than hell.
ReplyDeleteThat show would DIE without Melissa. Let her leave the show and see where your career will be, Billy.
ReplyDelete@ Lilafowler....I read "shoe" like Ed Sullivan & the whole comment was funnier!
ReplyDeleteI never heard that Pierce and Stephanie couldn't stand each other. Who could hate on Pierce?
ReplyDeleteI'm not filled with near as much vinegar as most people on here seem to be. First of all it's a show whose punch line is "THEY'RE FAAAAT!!", so what is one to expect? Melissa is getting a lot of acting roles lately, but I'm positive that will subside SOON when people get over the "let's make a fat girl famous" syndrome. Don't take that as inflammatory, this is Hollywood, the same town that made Gaby Sibide famous. They will boost her up and let her fall, ala Katherine Heigl. In this guy's defense, when she eventually leaves the show, the fans will suffer, and shortly down the line so will she. Leaving shows to be BIG HOLLYWOOD stars has ended poorly for MANY, and continues to be the downfall of shows and actors alike. He's angry because his paycheck will disappear sooner rather than later.

ReplyDeleteActually, that's really OLD news. Pierce Brosnan eclipsed Stephanie Zimbalist in Remington Steele. The show was actually crafted for her, and the Steele character was never meant to be seen. The execs at NBC and MTM didn't think that would fly and wanted a physical Remington. Pierce Bronsan actually ended up with the bigger career. Also, his then wife, Cassie was always on the set. I hear Stephanie and Pierce are OK now and they both did the dvd interviews.
I LOVE the Diner Scenes with Carl and Samuel. They're hysterical. Carl's Nana is a classic sitcom character. I think that they are all very funny and love the show. It crosses over for both men and women.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has never watched this show, I feel superior. Plus, like Rebel Wilson, the whole "fat chick" thing us getting really old.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch it because I think MM is totally overrated.
