This B list foreign mostly television actor in his home country is probably a C- lister here despite his great role on one of the hittest cable shows out there right now. When our actor got his start he had a huge hit in his own country and then crashed and burned until his US hit now on the air. Why did he crash and burn? Apparently he decided he wanted to remain faithful to his wife and turned down lots of great roles because it would have involved casting couch time.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau "Game of Thrones"
Oooh, I remember this one. I believe he was the popular guess. Love this guy!!!
ReplyDeleteLove him.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me like him :)
ReplyDeleteI love him! Glad to know he is one of the good ones.
ReplyDeleteI loved him when he was the lead in "New Amsterdam". Too bad the show was cancelled.
ReplyDeleteThis should have been labeled a "Kindness Blind"
ReplyDeleteamazing and awesome
ReplyDeletebe still my beating heart! Good for him!
ReplyDeleteHe's A+ in his home country, which is Denmark. Not all that hard - there's only 5.5 million people here, which is fewer than in greater Los Angeles. Basically, there are the same 5-10 stars in every single Danish movie. But he is huge - the only one bigger is Mads Mikkelsen.
ReplyDelete@Nutty, so he didn't crash and burn there then..
ReplyDelete@Phoenix - he has always been popular in DK, probably the equivalent of a Brad Pitt? His status over there has just risen even further after GoT. Less of a gap between him and Mads these days.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize there was a casting couch issue for male actors. Is it women producers or gay male producers or both?
ReplyDeletenow I love him!!! Texas` its probably more about power- ie, look what I can make you do. I hate predator, male and female.
ReplyDeleteJaime Lannister! Living the gimmick, Ser.
ReplyDelete@texas rose, my guess is both. I though I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteI thought Nikolaj was a pretty big deal in Denmark, this sounds like his attempt to make it in the US...he worked steady here but GoT is treated like his US breakthrough. Good for him for sticking to his guns.
I forget if I posted this before, but I seen some Dragon Egg pipes for sale, if any 420 friendly GOT fans are interested. Here they are.
ReplyDeleteThank you V! Apparently Enty lives on another planet, lol
ReplyDelete@Phoenix, I think the "crash and burn" was his failed series New Amsterdam, which was on Fox network.
ReplyDeleteI believe he still lives mostly in Denmark, which is a real sacrifice when you consider how much worse the weather is here than in Los Angeles. But he makes a big deal about putting family first.
His wife is an actress of Greenlandic descent - ie Inuit - and a former Miss Greenland, I believe.
someone clone this man stat
ReplyDeleteIntegrity is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteAdd to that talent, character and good looks. You really have to wonder whether consumers of Hollywood's products are best served by the famewhore system. What else have we been missing out on?

ReplyDelete@Nutty, thank you too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know him, but I love him in a straight way. I like people with good principles.
ReplyDeleteCasting couch???? Prolly from gay producers . There was a story about Brad Pitt being pursued by this gay producer in exchange for a part in a movie. Brad kept dodging him even to the point of lying about having a girlfriend at the time.
ReplyDeleteI remember that, smfh. I hate this industry
DeleteNow this is a truly shocking reveal from Hollyweird. An honorable man is very sexy. Too bad there are not more like him.
ReplyDeleteOoooooo those are cool Count thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWell now I will love him forever!
ReplyDeleteYeah for a happy marriage and integrity!! I love him even more now!!
ReplyDeleteYeah for a happy marriage and integrity!! I love him even more now!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely fits with what I've heard about him from industry friends here in Denmark. He's supposed to be one of the good guys. still Denmark-based as well. My husband often travels for work and has seen Nikolaj on the NYC-CPH flight several times.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the casting couch here is alive and well for both women AND men. I definitely know some older female stars in positions of power who've picked their younger male co-stars that way.
His wife is gorgeous! Bravo, NCW! Love you for this!
ReplyDeleteI want to add that since this item was published, I'd say he's moved up to C+/B- as he had a very big season on Thrones and has become much better known here in N America since April.
ReplyDeleteOooohh--he might make a good lead in 50 Shades of Gray.
ReplyDeleteGregory Harrison (Trapper John, M.D.) has spoken out about the casting couch. A female casting director invited him over to her home one night to "discuss the role", after he made it to the final round of auditions for a big show. He kept refusing, didn't get the part, and subsequently, he never got another audition where this woman was involved in casting.
ReplyDeleteI loved New Amsterdam they never gave it a chance
ReplyDeleteAnyone who reads this site regularly, or any other gossip site for that matter, and hasn't figured out there's a casting couch for guys as well, is not really connecting the dots. Or has reading comprehension issues.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think a lot of us guessed this one!
ReplyDeleteDid mama give any to his stardom?
ReplyDeleteLove him even more now, if that's possible
ReplyDeleteThe King-Slayer is an honorable man! I'm shocked!
ReplyDeleteCurious how often the casting couch involved another man, instead of a woman and how much that had to do with it..
ReplyDeleteAs if I didnt think Nikolaj wasnt awesome enough.
ReplyDeleteIMHO He and Charles Dance owned this season.
My only question is... did he do the casting couch slouch to get the role on Game of Thrones?
ReplyDeleteSaw a photo of him on set with his two daughters. Looked like a genuinely happy group, not a staged photo-op. If he is good to his wife I bet his daughters are Daddy's Little Princesses too.

ReplyDeleteAw, I really love him as an actor so I'm thrilled this is him. Not that people should actually NEED to be commended on staying faithful to their spouses, but I'm so glad he refused to play the casting couch game.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't need to with his talent, he's exceptional.
