Blind Item #5

This former almost A list mostly movie actor has been using his assistant's urine and the urine of production assistants for mandatory drug tests. The production company is on it with him because they want the show made. They think the actor can function even if he is using and will do everything to make the show and to fool the insurance company.

  2. I am probably so late but Robin Williams is on drugs? I guess I thought he was just like that.

  3. I was thinking charlie too but "former almost A list mostly movie actor" doesn't seem to fit, because I think he was A list on two and a half men

  4. Sad if it's Robin. He kicked the coke a long time ago didn't he?

  5. I wouldn't call Robin Williams almost A list. Solid A for sure.

    James Caan?

  6. I read that SMG said that Robin Williams smells very bad too. Total coke stink!

    2. @Ivana--
When you do drugs, sometimes your sweat smells rank.
Usually more so for guys, and Robin Williams looks like he sweats A LOT.

  7. Yeah, I'd call Robin Williams and James Caan both "former A", not anything 'almost A' about them back in their prime.

    That said, I've got nothin'.

  8. When I had a drug test it seemed like it would have been really difficult to use other peoples urine. Then I heard about a mother using her daughters.

  9. Robin Williams had a major heart attack followed by open heart surgery a fairly short time ago. I doubt if he is doing nose.

  11. Liev Schreiber? Or has his entire first season been filmed?

  12. Spader seems like a good guess - new show in production.

  13. Phillip Seymour Hoffman or is his new show not filming yet?

  14. I think PSH is A list.

  15. psh isn't filming his tv show yet

  16. I don't think Spader would be considered "mostly movie" since he has been known for TV for the past several years--"The Practice," "Boston Legal," "The Office," & his new show.

  17. Robin Williams has bipolar disorder, he's not into illegal drugs, not that I know of. However, the drugs used to treat bipolar to my knowledge can be the same drugs used to treat ADD/ADHD and those are like legalized cocaine (drugs that make you focus) so if this is him, that might be why he can't use his own urine for drug tests.

  18. Robin had his drug issues in the past. He was reportedly partying with John Belushi and Robert De Niro the night before Belushi died. Pretty sure he's been clean since. I do know he was a drinker for a few years as well.

  19. My uncle, a notorious drunk, shared a room with Robin Williams during one of his many stints in rehab. My uncle is also a heavy smoker and has had pneumonia more times than I can count. To be honest I'm surprised he's still alive. Anyway- shortly after arriving at the rehab and being assigned rooms my uncle is hacking up a lung per his usual. Robin's way of breaking the ice was asking my uncle "So, how long ya got?" He assumed my uncle had terminal cancer because of how bad he looked and sounded. Anyway my uncle said he was a real nice guy, not all hyper and frenetic. This would have been in the early 1990s.

  20. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Dracula. Rhys-Meyers has been in rehab a few times and the insurance company would require regular drug testing to be sure he's not off the wagon again.
But Rhys-Meyers also did The Tudors.

Robin Williams was A-list in late 80s-early 90s, not almost A-list. He got Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society and a string of starring roles in major studio productions.

Depending on which Enty is writing this blind, it could be James Caan, as Caan was a major star in the 70s (Rollerball, Killer Elite, The Godfather), something that a younger Enty could fail to know. But Caan has also been doing TV for a while.

James Spader has been mostly TV for a decade and he's quite frank and honest (he diplomatically explained why he was cast in The Office and why he stayed one season only).

  21. @librarian - I take Vyvanse for ADD. No one has ever told me that it would show up on a drug test as an illegal drug. ADD/ADHD drugs are variants of amphetamines, not cocaine. If he was legally prescribed the drugs AND he truly has ADD/ADHD, the drugs would calm him down, not speed him up. Plus the med gets ruled out because it is supposed to be there. Also, ADD/ADHD meds are NOT front-line for someone with bipolar disorder. Lithium, antipsychotics, anticonvulsants, antidepressants and others are the traditional ones.

  22. Thanks for the info, Samantha. I've never taken medicine for my ADD/ADHD so I suppose I'm wrong.

Back to the blind, I don't know if I would say this is Robin Williams anyway, I still consider him A-list, not former A-list. He's one of those actors who I think is permanently A whether he's working or not.

    ReplyDelete
  23. If Robin has a valid scrip from his doc, there should be no problem if those drugs he's taking for bipolar or whatever, show up in his urine.

I think Phillip Semour Hoffman as well.

  24. PSH isn't former anything. He just starred in The Master and has a few projects lined-up in film and stage, while the blind item obviously applies to a TV show.

I stand by my previous pick. It can only be Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, as Dracula premieres on October on NBC and he has well documented issues with drugs and rehab. Robin Williams might have known a few relapses but he has been working steadily for three decades. JRM can be a haunted and talented actor but he has been in rehab at least three or four times (he spent time there in 2011 for instance) and it's indeed a surprise that he was cast as the lead in a network show, given the pace they have to follow in production.

  25. librariantobe,

If you have a legitimate prescription for dextromethamphetamines,(Adderall)or opiates(Vicodin,Oxycodone), and are taking them as prescribed, unless it's a job such as professional driver, then all that's necessary before you take urine testing, is to fill out the "Are you currently taking any medications?" With the truth. It is true that methamphetamines can synthesize in your urine in a manner that reads as simply "meth" on a basic level urine panel. IOW, the test doesn't know if you are taking your 1-2 pills a day responsibly or whether you smoked a Breaking Bad blue meth rock the night before. Honesty is ALWAYS best. Even when many employees tell testers they have smoked weed within the week, unless it's a hardcore, zero tolerance policy at the workplace, I've seen many, many people who only had trace amounts get just a stern warning.

  26. One other drug/health related comment, heavy abuses of cocaine for extended periods of time tends to break down more than nasal cartilage. I've never heard Robin Williams come and specifically say, "The reason I have the bovine valve, is because I destroyed the other one with blow."

Now, I don't mean this in a malicious way, at all. I'm just thinking he could really be a cautionary tale for many, and I'd super respect any actor who honestly admitted, "you know, I liked it, and I f*cked up." I know I've had my own laundry list, would love to see an aging actor read a few truths off of his.
