Blind Item #5

This A+ list mostly movie actor has been in this space for being difficult. He is a great comic actor but his people skills suck. Even if he is standing right next to someone he will not speak to them directly unless he feels they are his equal. The only people he considers his equals are fellow actors who make as much as him or the director of his movie. There are times where he does not even speak to his wife directly but makes his assistant speak to her. He is in the top 5 most difficult actors to work with.

  1. Is Jim Carrey married? Not sure if he is (don't care enough to look it up) but he's an ass.

  2. I was gonna guess Ben. I hope not, though, I love his wife

  3. Ben Stiller is my guess, too. What a nasy, self-important little bastard.

  4. Will Ferrell, is he mostly movie at this point?

    ReplyDelete
  5. How about the dirty talk during sexy toymz? Does the assistant have to do it for him too?

  6. For some reason, I always picture Ben Stiller to be just like his character in Happy Gilmore

  7. I don't think Ben Stiller rates this high and his wife was too beautiful to put up with that crap. I think its Eddie Murphy.

  8. Eddie Murphy isn't married.

  9. Gotta be Ben, those Napolean complexes are a motherfucker.

  10. Ben Stiller, He seems like a cuntykarl dude. Attitude and agressive.

  11. I always wonder why Ben Stiller is purportedly such a jerk with parents as cool as Anne Meara & Jerry Stiller.

    1. Because he's a short, short man. Life is hard when your legs swing from the chairs at the grown up table!

  12. Because he was born into money and grew up entitled in NYC.

I hope the next dozen posts got some meat to em, cause this is a pretty boring day so far. Enty better have a juicy reveal in the chamber.

  14. I think that "There are times where he does not even speak to his wife directly but makes his assistant speak to her" is an exaggerated form of "Ben's assistant answers Christine's questions because Ben doesn't keep track of his own schedule" or "Ben's assistant answers his phone for him even if it's his wife calling."

I sincerely doubt that she asks something and he tells his assistant "tell her that I said...." Besides--why would he even talk to his assistant if he won't talk to people he considers his subordinates?

I have no doubt that he's a difficult person, but this seems a little OTT.

  15. Ben Stiller is a total douchebag. I know people who have worked with him.

  16. A+ comic actors to me implies a comic actor who can open a movie on his own. That list would include:

    Adam Sandler
    Ben Stiller
    Robin Williams
    Kevin James
    Will Ferrell
    Steve Carrell

Who else these days? Jim Carrey isn't married and has not had a successful movie in some time.

I have no clue on this one.

  17. Ben Stiller. My husband works in the theater, and has met him. Wife was lovely, Ben wouldn't look or speak to anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Totally Ben Stiller's m.o.

Also, he may make the assistant talk to his wife when they're doing a film together. Like maybe he's a method-douche who can't break character...haha.

  19. My brother did work as a movie extra in the past and a bunch of other extras told him the meanest actor they'd ever worked with was Stiller.

  20. It's Ben Stiller. I know his assistant pretty well & this is exactly how Ben operates.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I (Tony) wonder if his sister is as bitchy as he seems to be? I would hope nurture would override nature in his case, because if he sucks this bad with good (albeit rich & connected) parents, there's not much hope for all the celeb spawns made famous via the celebrity baby obsession of the past couple decades.

I've also heard Christine Taylor is super-nice.

  22. Ben Stiller was my first guess too!!!!

  23. That is so disappointing to learn people you used to like are awful people. Good to know though.

  24. I read somewhere (Here?) that Ben hires female assistants and expects oral servicing as part of their job. ~shudder~

Vera: oral servicing? Like a book report?

  25. Steve Martin. He'll even snub other celebs sitting next to him on the "Tonight Show" couch. He is a snob and, for a comedian, has very little humor.

    1. I was thinking Steve Martin too, Jennifer. He's manic depressive, isn't he? I think he's also very shy and private when he isn't 'in character'.

  26. Yeah, Stiller - a well-known asshole (I think he even parodied himself on Gervais's Extras, although self-parody obviously didn't make him change his ways).

It's that Napoleon-complex thing - he's a wee, tiny little man (I mean, shorter than Cruise, even) and obviously feels he has to overcompensate big time for it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. But Steve Martin is a good guess, too, although I don't know how "difficult" he is. He's definitely cold, humorless and stand-offish in RL, though. His on-screen persona of geniality and niceness is just that - a persona.

Actually, Will Arnett fits Martin's description with a little bit of Stiller's assholishness, but he's not A list.

  28. @jennifer, I heard he's a snob, but still love him, so many funny movies.

    I think this is Ben.

my abusive ex is extremely short, I absolutely believe in the Napoloeon complex thing, it's hard for a man to be always looking up at everyone, makes them very feisty, insecure, and controlling. Like a toddler, in my experience. Kind of like dogs, little dogs are yappy and snappy, big dogs are laid back and happy, friendly.

  32. OT, Napoleon was reported to be 5'7. That height was considered normal for the time period. A British writer came up with the idea that was was abnormally short in order to make him appear clownish. I am not a Napoleon defender or expert, I just happened to read trivia on this exact thing over the weekend!

Ben Stiller is known for treating Christine Taylor like garbage, always yelling at and belittling her in front of others.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Anna: Did he start out as abusive, or just "standing up to you, keeping you inline" like you talked about desiring yesterday, and then it progressed into something bad?

I'm sure I'm not the only one curious after yesterday's comment, so I figured I'd ask.

  37. The BI may be Ben Stiller and it might be true but there's definitely some exaggeration in this.

Stiller definitely works with people that are below his pay rate. He has lately done two TV shows, Arrested Development and Eagleheart, most likely as a favor to Chris Elliott, while he could have passed on these projects. So, I'm sure he's difficult to work with, but I challenge the claim that he talks to people only on a money scale. The guy also knows what talent is.

  38. Spent a fun evening with Ben once in Nantucket, laughing, nice, totally normal. My kids have met him also, in more of a fan mode, and he was completely gracious. Just want to balance out the negativity a bit.

  39. I have a friend who worked with Steve Martin on his recent bluegrass record who says he was very nice to her and her co-workers. He is kind of reserved, it is not like he is going to break out and be all "I'm a wild and crazy guy", but was polite and gracious to those working with him.
