Your Parents Had Sex On Christmas Eve
According to a recent study, the most common birthday for Americans aged 14-40 is September 16. Yes, that means your parents probably thanked each other for their gifts in a very special way, or got drunk on Christmas Eve. Not counting February 29, the least popular birthdays are December 25 and January 1. Based on the chart above and the darker days for more babies, it appears that most parents are having a lot of sex in January and February, which makes sense because you really have nothing else to do when it is cold.
Alternately, if you were born in July like me, then there is a good chance a slutty Halloween outfit played a part in your conception.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome for that image - I'll wait while you catch up to it.
LOL!!!!!! :)
DeleteHeyyy I am a 2/29 leap year baby,lol
ReplyDeleteParents don't have sex on Christmas Eve; they're too tired from staying up putting together toys with complicated directions. And they know that their kids will wake them up at 3am to see if Santa came yet.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a young teen, I did the math and concluded that I was likely conceived on Halloween. I haven't felt the same way about Halloween since.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I totally agree with Karen's post. I have 4 kids... 'nuff said.
ReplyDeleteSecond, if I count back 40 weeks from my birthday (03/14), my mom probably got pregnant on or around 06/13. My oldest child's birthday is 06/13. Kind of a neat coincidence.
My parents got busy on Valentine's Day because I was due in late November. I made my arrival two weeks later. I had to be fashionably late.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Karen
ReplyDeleteI wish my dad was Santa Clause =(
ReplyDeleteI remember reading somewhere that Oct. 5th was the most common birthday date in the world, leading right back to a hot New Year's Eve.
ReplyDeleteSix of my bio-father's eight kids have conception dates between New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day.
I too was born in July. Its not that cold in October, especially in the Caribbean.
ReplyDeleteHow dreadful.
ReplyDeleteMy mother's birthday is 9/16.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I had about 10 friends that all had birthdays on Sept 14. Tis the season, I guess.
ReplyDeleteIm due with my son late July. He was conceived Halloween but it was that pre calculated baby trying sex.
ReplyDeleteI was born Sept 10, and my two kids are Sept 30 and Oct 3.
ReplyDeleteDammit Enty. I'm September 15.
ReplyDeleteHa! I was conceived New Year's Eve.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest son is 9/26, but we KNOW we conceived him on New Year's Day and not on 1/3 like the chart would indicate. My other son is 7/19, but should have been 4th of July. We still don't quite know how we got him :)
ReplyDeleteI however, just showed up on my parent's doorstep via stork delivery. There is no way my parents EVER had sex - nyah nyah nyah can't hear it/think it/etc., LOL
I was born on Dec 25th and my niece was born on January 1st. I've always suspected my family was unique.
ReplyDeleteI was almost assuredly a Valentine's baby--their first as a married couple. Almost exactly 9 months to the day.
ReplyDeleteMy original due date with our second child would have put her conception at New years eve. She was born Sept 15 .I have no idea when for sure she was conceived because baby number 1 had just turned 9 months and my cycle hadn't started yet.
ReplyDeleteHonestly either date was possible. That was 16 years ago, ultrasounds were done late so not considered reliable to guess gestational age. The doctor teased us that we thoroughly enjoyed Christmas eve and kept on celebrating right thru til New years day.
I'm pretty sure it happened NYE tho.
That's hilarious, especially considering that my husband's bday is Sept 16!
ReplyDeleteTotally a Valentines Day baby. Nov 14th. I am amazed Nov birthdays aren't the most common.
ReplyDeleteMy moms bday is in August, i was born in May. Pretty sure mom got me for her birthday :)
ReplyDeleteOMG. Christmas is the most stressful time of year. It was like that for me even BEFORE I was a momma. So, this is fascinating to moi.
ReplyDeleteI had to share this with my husband who was born on 9/16, I was born 7/13. My folks used to throw a lot of parties, maybe Halloween????
ReplyDeleteThink how often this means 9 and 16 are picked in the lottery.
I was born in February, which means I was conceived in May which my father said was impossible because he was too busy studing for finals.
ReplyDeleteMy son was born Sept 16, BUT he was 6 wks early!! I was born on valentines day but i was 2 was 2wks early. Wonder if they factored that stuff in!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was the Christmas surprise that came nine months later on September 19!
ReplyDeleteSo for those in the Southern Hemisphere, this chart would be flipped, right? Assuming that the cold-weather theory holds up. Therefore, lots of Feb/Mar babies, I think. Anyone from Down Under wanna weigh in? ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy parents anniversary was July 5, 1974. I was born March 10, 1976. I figure the 5 day grace period means I was conceived on their first anniversary.
ReplyDeleteNope! I was conceived on my dad's birthday. That day has never been the same to me after I figured that out. *I* have never been the same. O_O
ReplyDeleteRu roh. I just realized that since I was two weeks late and born near end of April, maybe fireworks weren't the only things that exploded the previous July 4th. Excuse me now while I go barf.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday was supposed to be Xmas day but I came a few days early--and the people at the hospital were mad because my mom had an emergency that interrupted the Christmas party. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a bad time of year to have a birthday--everyone is too busy to celebrate and a lot of people give you one present for birthday and christmas.
The positive is when you get older and get money for those days, you get a bit more money and you can usually buy something really nice.
Look how empty November is! I guess Valentine's day isn't so popular for love making?s
ReplyDeleteBoth my sister and I were both Valentine's Day conceived.
ReplyDeleteBTW, we always knew when our folks had sex because she would call him 'dad' all day. Ick, nast.
Makes sense why I have so many family and friends who's birthdays are all in the middle of September. LOL
ReplyDeleteI was born at the end of April. My parents were camping in August when I was conceived (on accident), which also happened at the same time the Manson murders were being done in So. Cal. Nice huh?
Semi-related, I was having a discussion about this once with my friend and her mother. We were talking about a cousin who knew exactly where and when her child was conceived. Her mom says to her, "I would NEVER be able to pin that down. Your father and I were having waaaay too much sex back then." Lol! I was laughing my ass off and my friend was horrified.
ReplyDeleteI was conceived on my grandmother's birthday on Nov 14. My mother remembers it because she was never too into my father. That's a LONG story.
ReplyDeleteMy twins are born Aug 2, but were due July 28. I know when they were conceived! It was October 24.
My husband swears he was conceived on Halloween, but Iran uses different calendars, so he's not totally sure. He's born in late July.
Thanks to this thread, I now know that I was probably a birthday gift to my dad. Thanks a lot, CDAN. I liked to believe that I was brought by the stork.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I are both born in August. Seems November is when it starts getting really cold here in Canada...L
ReplyDeleteI got inseminated (sorry) with my son near the beginning of December, but he had to come out early by C-section so he was also born in August instead of September. LADIES: If you are contemplating such planning, do yourself a favour and arrange things so that you are NOT pregnant all through the summer! That's the worst! Give birth in April or May if you can! L
@Tammy You and my daughter share a birthday... curse the valentines sex!!! (not really...)
ReplyDeleteI take issue with this. My birthday is 7/7 and I've only met two other people with my birthday...it's not that popular AT ALL. July 1 and 2 are very popular.
ReplyDeleteAnd my husband is 1/1 and has met many people who share his birthday. My son is 1/4 and out of his graduating class of 613, there were 4 others who shared his bday.
Hey, mynerva, I'm also Sept. 15--but I was 2 weeks early.
ReplyDeleteI'm an October baby, my mama and daddy were bored in January, I s'pose. I do use my birth month as an excuse for why I hate Spring Forward. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI'm a June bug but my mom said I was a month late and that's why I was a big ol' baby (and the smallest daughter, natch). Married in August, baby in June. 5th grade health + math = Mom's fudging the dates.
ReplyDeleteI was made right around valentines day.
ReplyDeleteMy eldest grandchild's birthday is September 16- mind bleach needed
ReplyDeleteMy cousin, myself and 4 other kids were born on Sept. 15th the same year in my hometown. Of course in New England during the dead of winter when there were only 3 TV stations and the Internet wasn't even dream of Al Gore's yet, not much else to do. There was the obligatory shotgun wedding in March and a not unexpected divorce three years later for my parents.
ReplyDeleteI was born Sep 17! But due on August 30, so who knows.
ReplyDeleteOMG my birthday is Sept 17th!!!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend's birthday is 9/14! So his parents must have done it a few days before Christmas, maybe while they were wrapping gifts. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm 9/26, but my mom always said I was 2 weeks late, which puts my conception around December 19...my dad's birthday. Ick, nast indeed.
ReplyDeleteMy maternal grandmother had six kids, 3 girls, 3 boys. The first two were girls born to a different father. The last four kids were born to my grandfather. Grandma had the girls on consecutive days 20 years apart. My oldest aunt, Feb 1. Seven years later, my younger aunt, January 31. Thirteen years after that, via Grandpa, my mom was born on January 30. I've always thought that was neat.
I was adopted so clearly my parents have never had sex.
